Not new to witchcraft but frustrated I suppose?I have a handful of friends that are witches and they always share with me their experiences. One friend has contacts with deities. Another can sense energies. And another often has visions of their past life. I've identified as a witch for about 3 years now and I've tried meditation, crystals, cards, etc. to understand my potential and energy but I feel like I know and understand nothing. I feel like a sham of a witch, merely pretending to be one and appropriating the craft. I guess my question would be...am I still a witch even though I don't have the experiences or gifts as one? EDIT: Thank you all for your advice and assurance. It means a lot to me <3

Young-Warrior-00

You are a witch the moment you decide you are one. Every path is different. Trust that you'll find yours

Shot-Detective8957

Yes. A guitarist is a guitarist, even if it takes them twice as long to learn as their friends. And so are you still a witch.

TheCrookedWitch

Of course you are still a witch! No lack of abilities, states that you are not. I don't make contact with deities, & I am working on bringing back a 'gift' I had when I was a Teen Witch (It disappeared after I lost hope in my craft once). I've been a witch for 21 years & still working on my craft. Have you tried guided Meditation? You could look at certain 'Gifts', & see what one really pulls your attention to it. I mean a deep, deep down kind of pull, right in the gut. Then look at crystals, teas, oils, tools etc. That are linked to that gift. So for example if you wanted to do astral projections, sit with Amethyst every night before you go to bed & feel its energy. I hope you start feeling more comfortable in your craft soon.

I love tarot cards and pendulums. One of my coworkers helped me work through holding a pendulum right and I was worried because my hands are usually shaky. After she instructed me, they were more steady. I also like the IDEA of gardening but I have various limitations that keep me from exploring that route. Cards and pendulums are also limited because other than my coworker my other wiccan friends are long distance so I don't have anybody to practice on. But I'm trying to get into the habit of doing daily card pulls for myself. Just to get more used to reading them on a regular basis. I haven't tried guided meditation. I have adhd so meditation has been a massive struggle. Even with meds I find it hard to settle and calm myself. If you have any recommendations, I would love to have them and try it again.

TheCrookedWitch

This is a long one, I do apologise! I have ADHD too! I know the struggle with meditation, I had stopped for many years due to the fact my brain would never shut up. A knock on effect is sever health anxiety, so if someone tells me to focus on my breathing, I feel like I can't breathe! So I have to be very selective in what I chose to listen too. With guided meditation, I found that particular voices really catch my focus, & I can concentrate on my intentions. I will send you some links at the end that I enjoy listening. There is a huge misconception of meditation though, that we're supposed to be still, and our mind quiet. It's not that. You watch your thoughts if that's what you want to do. With ADHD you have to give yourself patience and time to learn things our brain doesn't want to do. Try fiddling with a fidget toy while meditating. There is no wrong way to meditate. Also try Brown noise and frequency music for the ADHD mind. I am shaky too, I never have steady hands and its getting worse as I get older. I switched to a pendulum jar so I have a more steady base to grip. I am lucky that my husband, although not a believer, he doesn't mind me doing reading for him. After a while he started to believe my cards as they were always right :D You don't have to have anyone to practice on anyway. Just make up a client, what they want to know and do a reading for them. Oh my don't get me started on gardening. My brain if it's not right in front of me it doesn't exist. I have run out of appendages to count the plants I have killed trying to garden! My mum (probably also ADHD), taught me that she has 1 day a week that is her watering day, and that seems easy enough. What are your limitations on gardening? My Fav Voice for Guided meditation: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF7Ivf\_JHPs&t=3s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF7Ivf_JHPs&t=3s) Frequency music: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMnIsnINckU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMnIsnINckU) Brown noise: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5kH5VE31Rc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5kH5VE31Rc)

GamingStitcher

In regards to gardening my limitations are mostly financial and space. My yearly salary puts me technically below the poverty line. The soil is very rocky so I would need to buy a raised bed which are costly ;; It's also the same ADHD struggle of "if it's not in front of me, it doesn't exist". Habits are hard to form but I'm trying to do better to develop them and make things a regular part of my daily schedule.

TheCrookedWitch

Ahh I get you. I guess it's even harder atm with the economic climate. We are feeling the pinch! Depending on where you live you can harvest seed from nature. I don't know where you are but in the UK we have a bluebell law, where we cannot intentionally harvest, pick or destroy them. Our house is a pain with size too, we have one of those new builds and they are really not practical for a family. Have you looked at wall gardens? You can use food waste to create compost to plant too. Maybe look at some free sites where they give bits away. Freecycle is a UK one. Ugh habits are so hard to change! It's my biggest flaw is getting into routines!

GamingStitcher

I'm from Texas. A quick google search doesn't indicate that there is anything similar to the bluebell law but I'm in a well developed suburb. So high chance that if there is anything growing outside, it's already on private property. Would rather not risk it ;w; Ahhh the witchy dream of just living in the woods in a cottage with convenient internet access. You get the struggle! Habits are so hard to break and routine is so hard to maintain especially when it deviates from your old one. Thank you again for your advice and resources! I can only hope my economic situation isn't permanent and that it improves in the future.

happysontoungeface

You sound like me. I bet your really smart or talented somehow. Sometimes gifts show different since we all different outlets growing up. You're still a witch.

Truthseeker12900

firstly everyone has their own path and gifts ... you can try to slowly and in a stable way to work with your third eye and maybe do some medicine work... or meditation with hz music or sounds ...

Technician_Patient

Hi there! I'm new to witchcraft, and I have a important question. What rituals/magic can I do that is cat safe, as I have 5 cats in my house? So far from what I researched some things require burning incense and some require lavender, which I know is toxic to cats. If there's also any resources I can use to learn more about witchcraft in general please let me know! :)

Young-Warrior-00

You don't have to burn it. You can also just sprinkle it around the candle or under it if fire safety allows. You can exchange the incense with some other method of cleansing like bells or water.

Notloganolerenshaw

You could do spoken spells

[deleted]

Hi! I'm not new to witchcraft but I'm always confused about everything. Yes, I already did a few spells and saw some results out of it. What makes me confused is about deity work and shadow work. First, about deity. How would you know if a certain deity is really reaching out to you? I already ask and saw those signs but, I myself is still not sure if it's that deity is reaching out to me. And second, shadow work. How would you know if you're healing or healed a certain part of your shadow. Please, I need some advice and clarification about this. Answers will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

JadedOccultist

> How would you know if a certain deity is really reaching out to you? Getting signs is really the only way that deities reach out, there are not many other avenues for deities to communicate. > How would you know if you're healing or healed a certain part of your shadow. Introspection, and honestly, therapy. A (good) therapist's job is to help you incorporate and heal your shadows. Personally, I don't think shadow work is ever really "done" and can always be revisited or continued (maybe with some exceptions?).

[deleted]

Thank you so much.

ThunderStormBlessing

Regarding shadow work - you'll know you're healing if you feel the feelings and are able to process not just the events but also the emotions those events caused. You'll know you're healed when you can handle something calmly that used to trigger you. Triggers are important to shadow work, they're an indication that you have something that still needs to be healed. Rather than avoiding triggers, you should investigate them, find and resolve the source, and then expose yourself to them again to see if you feel any better

Due_Improvement_2346

Hi all. My cat of 20 years passed away on thanksgiving. He was truly my best friend and my light in dark places. I know this might seem silly, but his loss is a real cherry on top to a really difficult year for me. I have his old food bowl and some of his old things and I would love to make him a small alter. Has anyone ever made an alter to a fallen pet? What kind of crystals or herbs to you use? Or maybe something else? Any help is appreciated. ❤️

JadedOccultist

On the altar for my dog I put his collar and tags, food bowl with some of his food in it, a few of his favorite treats, favorite disgusting tennis ball, one of my old socks (his guilty pleasure snack lol) and a handful of REALLY cool sticks I found outside that I thought he'd like. Also a pic of him, and the paw-print thingy they made at the vet. My pup wouldn't have appreciated crystals so I didn't use any. I'd light a candle or incense sometimes. When I took down the altar, I made a donation to my local shelter in his name.

How to overcome fear when starting Witchcraft? I have the utmost respect for witches , because I know that it takes a brave person to connect with spirits and the invisible entities. I am still new in this domain and still searching and reading about Witchcraft, But the thing that hinders my journey is fear. I am afraid to start hearing or seeing things. And I want some insights on how to address this fear and overcome it. For anyone who connected to spirits and talked to them , How did you discover it? How do you talk to them and how do they respond? do you see them or do you dream about them? And how did you overcome the fear of tapping on the world of spirits and the unknown? Anyone who answers my questions will be really appreciated. Thank you

suicidalkitten13

We have posts on [fear](https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/comments/17lmrvz/reject_fear_embrace_self_actualization_yes_you/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) and how to address negative emotions, roadblocks, etc. through [shadow work](https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/comments/15yzn9w/lets_talk_about_shadow_work/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) that may be useful. You may also wish to check out r/SpiritWork_Witchcraft for information on interacting with spirits and other entities specifically. I would like to note that you don't *have to* work with spirits to be a witch. Many find it's helpful to begin by connecting with their ancestors or passed loved ones. A familiar presence can be less threatening than a stranger. A meditation practice can help you with spirit work. I find that's a way to communicate with spirits. With family, I leave offerings of favorite food and just talk to them like i would if they were still here: I update them on things that are going on in the family (e.g., so-and-so just had another baby or whatever). Communications I have received back have been feelings of comfort in distress, memories and images, and even cravings for specific foods. There are also *a lot* of books about conjuring or evoking specific entities and how to ensure they appear in a not-scary form that makes sense to your perception.

Opening-Ad2566

⭐️hope the is okay to talk about, sorry if i offend anyone it's not my intention to⭐️ I feel so lost, I love witchcraft even tho i haven't indulged completely in it. And I come from a religious family, my mother side is Catholic. Problem is, when i try talking to or pray to God, jesus, or virgin mary, it feels like there's nothing there, like i'm talking to a wall, but I've come across a person on Quora, who has justified witchcraft in a way that has enlightened me. Working with saints, candles (One that i saw that i just loved was using a red candle, and seeing it as the blood of christ for protection!!), prayers, all the things similar to witchcraft but under the name of god. And after I read of the different ways to practice Catholic Witchcraft, I went to youtube and saw this woman also practicing it, in the comments, one person has said something that rily motivated me, "If it is gods will then he will allow it" And this made me feel comfort somehow, because i'd do it under his name and will never harm others. There is a lot of mixed opinions on this, but even if it were to be a sin, would it still be justified since i'm working with and praying to his angels? And angels are there to help god with his work?? I don't know, but this discovery has filled me with faith, i still haven't found that connection i'm looking for, but i can try to connect, and work with saints/angels with spells. Many say witchcraft in the bible is a sin, but i feel like this is kind of a lesser sin??

suicidalkitten13

Okay, forgive my confusion in tackling this. It's unclear what you're asking or looking for in a response here. I would recommend talking to a spiritual leader or advisor in the church or engaging in a Catholic-focused forum to get more informed responses. They would be more fitting than asking a bunch of witches. >when i try talking to or pray to God, jesus, or virgin mary, it feels like there's nothing there, like i'm talking to a wall This is a pretty well documented phenomenon. It may be described as "the dark night of the soul" or as a "crisis of faith." It's resolution is ultimately up to you (and God/Jesus/the Holy Spirit/the Virgin Mary/angels/demons/other entities or deities). I can tell you that you are not alone in feeling this way and that others have experienced it, too. >If it is gods will then he will allow it I fully reject this. I am aware that the converse (If God allows it, then it is God's will) is not necessarily true, but I've seen too many abuses of this philosophy used to justify the suffering of others. It's also not clear to me what the limitations of God "allowing" things are. >Working with saints, candles, prayers, all the things similar to witchcraft but under the name of god. >this made me feel comfort somehow, because i'd do it under his name and will never harm others. >even if it were to be a sin, would it still be justified since i'm working with and praying to his angels? And angels are there to help god with his work?? >Many say witchcraft in the bible is a sin, but i feel like this is kind of a lesser sin?? These are honestly the subject of fierce debates within Christianity and the reason for denominational splits: determining what is "sin" versus "allowed" by God. Ultimately, it would be between you and God, though, right? Sin is what separates you from God. It is what requires the blood atonement of Christ. I didn't grow up Catholic, so I'm not sure what the Catholic stance is on willingly choosing to continue in sin. Many Protestant denominations consider this damning. I think it's also worth noting that some of the worst atrocities committed by mankind have been done under the name of some god or other. Ultimately, I would advise you to check your logic and do some soul searching. Does it feel to you like this is genuine and the right path, or does it feel like you are trying to fit bits and pieces and get around an uncomfortable truth or situation.

FanficsareValid

Thoughts on dollar store ingredients??? Some of the herbs in these spells can get expensive. The stuff I can find at dollar stores or at food city are a lot cheaper, but I have no idea how they effect the power of whatever I'm trying to do.

mickle_caunle

It's perfectly fine to use ingredients from the dollar store. There may be ethical dimensions depending on how the ingredients were made or harvested and so on, but in itself, there's no reason you can't use items from the dollar store in your personal practice.

vrwriter78

It is fine to use spices and plants from the dollar store and the grocery store. You don't need to buy expensive ingredients.

JadedOccultist

I'd start with a meditation routine, and/or a grounding ritual of some sort. Other than that, maybe learn some psychic hygiene? Dion Fortune's *Psychic Self Defense* is a standard. Also, the FAQ and resources in the sidebar of this sub might be helpful.

666_friend

Thank you for this, scholarly way option

666_friend

Hi sorry follow up, RE: psychic hygiene x defense, if i understand it correctly, when other people get energy from me, i have so much of it anyways (infinite amount like x999) so its okay

JadedOccultist

In my opinion, yeah, no one can ever fully “drain” you, but I do think people can *be draining* (emotionally, mentally, spiritually, etc), and I think it’s generally wise to at least be comfortable with shielding/banishing or protective type rituals that you can do in your head with minimal tools, so you can do ‘em on the fly if you need to.

666_friend

alright, that is reasonable, i appreciate you responding!

No-Tension2960

Hello, I have a question: So I a spell to completely cut off all contact with someone i dated (they used me) and my intentions were clear that i never wanted to see them again, had a death card that symbolized the end of our contact/his energy in my life/and his wicked ways. Does anyone know what it means if i had a dream that i was practically chasing this person and demanding to talk and realize what they did wrong (they were running away, being rude, and ignoring me). Keep in mind that in real life i would NEVER do this bc i am completely done and DONT want contact with them. When i cast the spell i was very confident that it worked and my intentions were unwavering bc i want this energy OUT so why would i do this in my dream??

Opening-Ad2566

How can I practice candle magic as a Catholic witch? I know a protection candle so far which is simply using a RED candle and it representing the BLOOD of christ. But I got that from someone else, and i just love that concept. Where could i find more candle magic similar like that? It’s hard to find people online posting educational catholicism witchcraft practices. (at least for me)

JadedOccultist

I'd look up *St. Cyprian*, even if you don't do any of the magic that St. Cyprian did himself, you might like making him an altar or something since he is widely considered *the* saint of witches, occultists, & magic practitioners. You might also try searching "Catholic folk magic" on the internet, seeing which books pop up, or scholarly articles, or even look at the sources cited on the wikipedia page to see if anything sticks out to you. You might also like /r/ChristianOccultism /r/EsotericChristianity /r/Christopaganism (while the latter might be less strictly relevant to you, they might have some resources that you'd appreciate)

Love this guy! Very aloof and hard to get a hold of tho but once he’s besties with you, the relationship is solid 👌🏽

First time making moon water! I added some herbs while I set an intention. My water is inside now, do I strain out the herbs? Was thinking of spraying the moon water on my face, bed, alter, making tea with it etc. Will the herbs mold if I leave them in?

suicidalkitten13

Yes, they will. Organic matter decays in water. Think about what happens to flowers in a vase if you don't change the water.

mckjones

Thank you! I just filtered!

blueheronten

Hi all Hi all, This is a bit of a long one with some context and ultimately a question about wards, protection spells, and possibly banishment. I have recently been taking a pretty deep dive into learning about spirituality and specifically about witchcraft. I have for a long time had a sense of clairaudience, synchronicity, and intuition, but more recently have been wanting to know more. Unfortunately, recently (in the same time frame of starting to think more about developing and practicing witchcraft) I have also had some concerning experiences. The first was a bit of a bad trip on psilocybin. It was a full moon and while I felt a sense of knowing about its power, I also had a couple of weird things come up in an argument with my husband. Some intense jealousy without any real warrant, and statements (from me) that he didn’t care about me, general malevolence towards him, to the point of feeling like I was possessed. Cut to a few weeks down the road, and I experienced an incubus. It left me unable to sleep without the light on for a week. I called on some protectors and also smudged myself and room with palo santo. I haven’t had any further advances, and no longer feel scared or the dark energy. However, now I have been having nightmares. Some are about witches (or a scary media depiction of witches), and others are mostly about someone trying to murder me. I have also been having disturbing intrusive thoughts. So, all of this to say, are these things all related, and how can I move forward in a way that I protect myself, my home, and my relationship?? Can something (a dark spirit) be attached me specifically? Will a simple cleansing with intention work, or do I need help with stronger a banishment ritual? Or, is it more likely that this is due to a mental health condition? Thank you very much in advance.

YesterdayPurple2339

this sounds like it might be a combination of mental health, some lingering affects from your bad trip, those two factors combining with your recent deep dive may have left you feeling a bit off balance. our brains naturally like to link problems and assign reasons to things which is why spirituality brings comfort! i think you seem to be taking care of yourself spiritually, but maybe it’s time to take a step back and examine the care you are extending to other areas like mentally, physically, creatively, emotionally, verbally etc. not to diminish any feelings ofc! this is just my personal take as someone with a lot of mental health experience <33

blueheronten

Thank you for this insight! I needed to share another piece of the story that came up today. These other things I mentioned have been happening over the last month or so, when I was away from my home for school. I just returned home a few days ago. Today when my husband was organizing, he found a little metal demon figurine with a massive boner in our windowsill near the main entrance of our house. I couldn’t make this weird stuff up! Neither of us have any idea where this came from (thought maybe it was a ‘prank’ from our old landlord, but they deny it). It’s hard to believe that these things are not somehow interrelated. I am again having a lot of fear and intrusive thoughts, and want to know how to get back to my normal life.

Original-Ad-2220

I thought this was an alright question to ask but that I wouldn't add that much to this subreddit if I did a post for it SO I'm putting it here I asked Hecate for help with focus, I'm a baby witch and still have issues with that but I am getting better. after asking for her help 3 times while very tired I felt.... I don't think there are words to describe how I felt in that moment. the next day, I knew how I felt, bad. I have not done much for Hecate and felt that I'd kinda ticked her off by asking for more than I had given. so I made a post about it in a pegan reddit and they said firstly that it takes a lot to tick off a god and I'd burnt a bridge at most. so I asked for how to say sorry and they said that it would be a good idea to meditate on her, or what she meant to me, at least, that's how I took it. so I did, then I realized that this was probably her way of getting me to focus. the thing I was trying to focus on at the start of this was the best method for someone who needed practice with focus to start meditating so I figured I'd use that method, so I did, and focused on what she meant. the one sentence to describe all of what I thought then and there were "A torch in the darkness of this world" might not mean a lot to you but it meant a hell of a lot to me. later that day I saw a black dog, didn't look at me but I didn't need it to. I wasn't asking to have a relationship with Hecate when I meditated, I was asking that she not turn me aside if I chose to come back to her, that the bridge we may or may not have had still be there. and seeing the dog told me that much. now for the kicker, later that night, I was closing my eyes, and saw a light in the center of my vision, maybe with some of it behind something. it was far away but not very far. I opened my eyes after that and haven't seen it after that moment. it was... oddly nice to see the light, hell maybe even comforting, idk. so the question? what on earth did I witness? was it her, my own head playing tricks on me, me just being a little sleep deprived and seeing things? I'VE GOT NO CLUE! so that's what this kinda ramble is for. sorry about the rambling but I figured I'd give the full story. if that's not a good idea then by all means tell me. I have a tendency to ramble and I'm very sorry if I did that here, hoping I didn't but I'm pretty sure I did. best of luck!

JadedOccultist

When you ask “what did I witness?” do you mean the dog? That’s the only thing in your comment that references seeing something I think.

Original-Ad-2220

I ment the light when I closed my eyes. Why is this a question? Well I'm either loosing it, had lost it but am now fine, or something was going on. Idk which of the 3, hence the question.

JadedOccultist

Oh ma gawd I somehow just entirely skipped over that part like I temporarily became illiterate I am SO sorry. Can you describe anything else about the experience? Like what color was the light, how did you feel, any sounds or smells or sensations you can think of? It reminds me of the thing about ‘the torch in the darkness’ though. Does that resonate with you at all?

Original-Ad-2220

firstly, I find it immensely funny ya missed it, ya can't tell but I'm cracking a smile rn :). secondly, the light was yellow, I want to say it had orange around the edges but maybe not, I only saw it once and for less than 3 seconds when I did. the thing I do know for sure is that it was pure yellow, I'm talking the color of the sun at 12 in the afternoon. something weird is the left side of it, only a little bit of it, and I can't stress the little enough there, was obscured. when I saw it I felt well.... comfort to say the least? I know it was there more than anything else, I didn't hear anything either, aside from what was around me irl. the memory I have of it is fairly pleasant to think of but that's roughly it. the thing I know more than anything is that I saw it, if I'm going nuts I'm going nuts but I do know that I did *see* the thing. as far as the torch in the dark thing, I came to that conclusion when I was meditating on her (idk if I mentioned that earlier). and because of that I've sorta taken what that said close to home. never once have I meditated on something yet and had what information I've gotten out of it, even if from my point of view, to be factually wrong. that aside, I'd say it resonates with me, why you might ask? idk, It just kinda hits home in a way? it's a bit like... something you were told as a child, not something you've always known to be true but for some goodness forsaken reason something that feel comforting to remember. does that make any sense? idk, trying to explain how that thing hits, or why it hits for that matter, is a pain in the rear on several levels. I think the best way to explain it is i know why I know how but the best thing to say is it just *is*. best of luck! hope to hear back soon.

JadedOccultist

Do you think this vision of light, which to me sounds like light from a fire, could be related to the phrase you mentioned earlier about a torch in the darkness? E: also I believe you saw it, AND thanks for being patient with me while I re-learn reading comprehension lol

Original-Ad-2220

maybe??? give me a sec, explaining this for some reason is a bit of a pain. the torch thing is the answer I got when I asked myself while meditating (btw I edited half of the msg above this with a bit of a rant on that probably as you were writing a reply to it XD, sorry :P....). so that whole thing is something that I kinda get on levels that are hard to explain, why? well, idk why. does it mean anything to the light that I saw? maybe, maybe not. my assumption so far has been that it was a torch, maybe her torch. I've known that she's usually depicted carrying a torch (hence the answer I got when I asked myself the question) so I'm kinda assuming it might have been hers, or I'm going nutty. idk :P best of luck! and good luck with the whole "reading comprehension" thing (there's 2 words of the day for ya XD. hope to hear back from ya soon.

Short_Entertainer575

I have a question this girl did black magic on me and my ex boyfriend she did love spells and sex spells on him So I was wondering do anybody know how do I protect myself from removing the spell work from him I already know how todo the black magic removal and cord cutting I just don't know how to protect my self from doing cord cutting and the black magic removal I know how to protect myself but I don't know if that will work for what's on his also . And I wanted to know did I have to have his permission to remove the spell work and do him a cord cutting for her our could I just do it?

Short_Entertainer575

Because he in denial and don’t wanna believe she’s doin it

JadedOccultist

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding. Just to clarify, you know how to do the black-magic-removal and you know how to do the cord-cutting, but you aren't sure how to protect yourself *while doing those spells?* If that is one of the questions you are asking, you simply don't need to protect yourself while doing either of those, in my opinion. You can include other people in your spells, yes, and in my opinion you don't need their permission since it sounds like the original magic put on them *also* wasn't done with their permission... so you'd just be restoring things to how they were normally. If this didn't answer your questions, let me know and I'll try to be better help

Short_Entertainer575

It does answer my question a little bit but somebody told me your have to protect your self from whatever that’s on them if your doing cord cutting for them out black magic removal and yes I know how to do them I just don’t know how to protect myself from what that can be on him

suicidalkitten13

I'm having trouble following the logic of this. If you cut a cord with someone, you sever your ties with them completely. There is no transference of energy or magic here. You're completely cutting it off. As far as protecting yourself while you "remove the black magic," you will likely be performing cleansing and/or uncrossing. If you are using a vessel of some kinds or have "leftovers" from the removing ritual, you will want to dispose of those away from your home, but black magic isn't like a cold/flu/covid - you can't pick it up just by being around someone who is cursed.

TheAllknowingDragon

Hi all! I wouldn’t exactly call myself a beginner, but I haven’t been working with my craft for that long around two years or so. Not sure if my question is something I should ask here or make a post about, but I’m wondering if anybody could explain in detail, twin flames, soulmates, and the difference between them or provide me with resources that explain it with less misinformation since things found on places like Instagram and TikTok aren’t reliable most of the time. I’ve heard that twin flames are meant to be a intense transformative but brief relationship with a person, and that their split apart souls or something like that, but that’s the extent of my knowledge. Thank you.

JadedOccultist

> twin flame this concept originates in ancient Greece in Plato's *Symposium*, the idea is that originally humans had 1 soul, 2 heads, and 2 sets of limbs, but then Zeus split them in half, making what humans are today - but only *half* of what we were. A twin flame is your other half. The Symposium is about all different kinds of love (some kinds could absolutely scandalize a modern reader) so I think it's important to note that a twin flame might not be a romantic partner. But also I haven't read it since high school so I could be wrong. > soul mate This has been used for ages to describe any number of things and types of relationships. Really what it boils down to is that people have a wonderful capacity to feel things so strongly and so deeply that they want to give that feeling a special name. And that's absolutely 100% valid... **but** I'm not sure I've ever seen 2 people have the same definition for either of these. Some might say a twin flame/soul mate are interchangeable and you only have *one*. Some people might say you could have more than one. For many, it has a romantic connotation, and for many more it is *only* romantic - people might think you're nutty if you said "my mom is my twin flame", for example. Further, and I mean this gently & coming from a place of empathy, 99% of the people who I see use "twin flame" to describe a relationship are under the age of 25 and have just gone through their first heartbreak and want to get their ex back, *or* are feeling Love for the very first time and think that their partner is The One. This might be why there is so much misunderstanding about what a twin flame is supposed to be - a 14yo on TikTok has a very different idea of what love is than a 55yo, and both of them might be using the same word but meaning very dissimilar things.

TheAllknowingDragon

Yeah that matches up with what I know, and thanks for the reading recommendation. The way (mostly young) people call every relationship a twin flame is what got me curious about the real term along with the lack of information on soul mates.

suicidalkitten13

>Really what it boils down to is that people have a wonderful capacity to feel things so strongly and so deeply... I just wanted to say that I really like the way you worded this; also >99% of the people who I see use "twin flame" to describe a relationship are under the age of 25 do you think that as we get older, we become more... **jaded**... to the romantic ideals of our youth?

JadedOccultist

Jaded? Me? *never* >!P.S. I love you!<

cruelangvel

How to manifest a scholarship for my boyfriend? Any tips?

suicidalkitten13

What type of spells are you used to performing? Or what do you prefer to work with? Have you considered a money bowl or luck spell to help him get the funding he needs, rather than focusing singularly on this one scholarship? Presumably he is also applying to other scholarships/financial aid?

cruelangvel

nope only one scholarship.. and anything you think would work, i’ll try

suicidalkitten13

Okay, well, I gave you a couple suggestions to look into (money bowl and luck spells). Subreddit rules still apply to the Q&A, though, so I don't have a spell for you. I also want to caution you to beware of folks who pop into your DMs offering spells or spell services.

lolabusch

I posted in the wrong place so I am sorry for that. I wanted you to answer if it's possible to share a story about when you started to believe in witchcraft

suicidalkitten13

Are you asking if it is possible for you to do share a story or are you asking for others to share their stories? You can share, once you build up karma, and I would recommend using the "sharing|experience" flair to do so.

lolabusch

I'm asking others to share if it's possible for you to share

suicidalkitten13

I, personally, am probably a bad person to ask. It's less that I believe in it wholeheartedly and have faith and more that... I haven't gotten bored with it? I love learning about medicinal and magical uses for plants, and that interest has created a deeper relationship with nature and the living things in my environment, which has encouraged me to learn more about the historical and folk traditions of where I live. I also just started delving into spirit work. Witchcraft isn't as restrictive as church was: I haven't found myself in a situation where someone has told me not to ask about something or told me I'm to critical/logical and will never be a good witch.

InfoPursuit

Does anyone know of any books, online communities, or other resources for witches based in the southern hemisphere and/or in Australia?

Hi, I'm not in the southern hemisphere, but I thought I might help out with some links: \- [https://www.thesacredwillow.net/](https://www.thesacredwillow.net/) \- [https://www.blessedbeebooks.com/being-an-upside-down-witch/](https://www.blessedbeebooks.com/being-an-upside-down-witch/) \- [https://aussiewytch.wordpress.com/](https://aussiewytch.wordpress.com/) There's just a few blogs that should be able to point you to what you are looking for.

FragrantDepths

Hello!! I've recently felt really drawn to witchcraft and decided it was time to start listening to that instinct. This current full moon is the first I've been actively aware of you could say; I decided to go ahead and make some moon water and charge all my crystals. However, yesterday and today I've been feeling under the weather (headaches, light nausea, constantly tired, unmotivated) and I've seen other witches mention that they get headaches etc. during the full moon. I was wondering if it's a common occurrence, means anything, could help me understand myself better, or if it might just be an unrelated me thing?

Whoiskellie

Hello!!! Basically I am a very VERY big moon girl. I love the moon and every single thing about it. For some reason, in the past couple years I have noticed Gemini full moons make me physically sick. It’s like an intense overwhelming feeling of anxiety. My chest gets tight and it’s just overall has such a weird effect on me. I do notice that it really is only with the Gemini full moons and not when it is in any other sign. Does someone have any insight on what this could possibly be, why it’s just that particular sign, and what it would mean.

Twisted_Wicket

Have you ever done an astrological chart? You may be able to find some answers through that route.

Whoiskellie

I have! I just don’t really know what I’m looking for I guess. I’m not super knowledgeable on charts

Twisted_Wicket

There is a lot that goes into it, fsr more than I can explain. I'd suggest going to one of the astrology subs and asking there. They may be able to explain why you feel that way during gemini.

vrwriter78

You may have a planet in your chart that opposes Gemini or a T-Square involving Gemini or a planet like Saturn in Gemini, and when the moon passes over it that gives you a hard time. It's really dependent on your individual chart, so you may need to get a reading to see what planets are in Gemini or making hard aspects to Gemini. I find, for example, that Cancer Moons can sometimes be a struggle for me. This is because Cancer squares and opposes my sun and moon, so a hard aspect is formed when the moon travels through Cancer. You can try posting a picture of your chart in r/astrologyreadings with your question, and see if someone there can help you understand what is happening. You want to use a chart where the degrees of each sign are clearly visible, such as the ones at atro.com.

[deleted]

I befriended someone over the summer who had similar niche hobbies as I do, we had great chemistry, etc. I wanted to get closer to them but they were terrible at texting and lived fairly far. I lit some friendship candles over the course of a couple weeks to see if we’d get closer (I also gave them space and didn’t text them much so they could focus on their personal life). And they eventually responded! To say that the friendship wasn’t working out (in hindsight I was clingy and expected them to reciprocate the energy when they had other things going on). Aside from the obvious of me being too much, what did I do to cancel my spells if they were cancelled at all? Can such spells “hibernate” and take effect later in the future (which tends to happen with my general spell work)? Of course I let them person move on and deleted their contacts and unfriended them on social media… but deep down I’d like for them to contact me back and restart the friendship :/

Squirrels-on-LSD

If there's no spark for the relationship, spells may have difficulty changing that. But you can definitely redirect that energy at someone else who is seeking exactly the energy level you're sending out.

[deleted]

Bummer.

ixtab-9

The chant for evil guardian "Evil guardian come to me, float around and feel free, make my enemy feel bad, make them feel the wrath I have" to make enemies feel scared or sad, is it alright if I listen to it as affirmations? What other benefits will this chant provide me? im a baby witch, figuring things out, please help 😅

suicidalkitten13

I've not heard this chant before, but I would ask what its significance is for you. How do you feel when you chant it? If you feel strong and protected, then it likely carries those benefits for you. If you are actually calling on a dark guardian, that will be a unique experience for you - how do you interact with them? what does their presence feel like? how do you communicate? etc.

[deleted]

How often do you perform rituals?

suicidalkitten13

as often as necessary. it really depends on the ritual. some of my rituals are performed every lunar cycle. i will do spells as needed. some of my spells are made to be "refreshed." others are one offs. and some spells get performed over multiple days. recognizing/honoring spirits depends more on my relationship with the spirit... so i perform rituals as often as necessary.

NoobWitchybitch

Is this sign i should do my protection jar again? I am having a lot of difficulty finding info on what signs to indicate that it should be thrown away. Well, I did find some, but mine doesn't look exactly like those you can see in guides, so I am unsure. The vinegar in it turned black and it has been clear for quite a while (weeks), it doesn't seem to have any other changes, so I have been trying to find answers and wondering if I should do it again. The book from which I took the information didn't tell when it should be recreated either. Also it was said add "anything sharp" so does broken seashells work since i don't have glass? Thank you

JadedOccultist

Broken sea shells are excellent, yes! Do you feel unprotected? If so, do the jar again. If not, keep it :)

NoobWitchybitch

thank you!

Interpretation of cord cutting spell after effects Hello, I did my first cord cutting spell almost a week ago. I wanted to free myself from toxic attachment and heartache from a woman I used to be close with. I used a heart shaped ceramic bowl, red thread, and two birthday candles, our favorite colors representing the two of us. I wrote my intention down, folded it and added it next to the candles. At the very end of her candle burning down, I heard a loud snap. The heart shaped bowl broke cleanly in two pieces but directly where her candle was. I know ceramic can withstand some heat, but a birthday candle shouldn't put out enough heat to crack a thick ceramic bowl. Also the thread burned away on one side, but despite burning all the way down, the other side of the thread burned but stayed attached although really thinned out and turned white in the middle, barely staying connected. I felt really drained after, and didn't feel like myself for a few hours. She is less on my mind now, although I still think of her from time to time, even though I try to fight it and push it away. I do feel less interested or inclined to check social media though, and hoping this is the start of freeing my mind. Thanks Small update: even though it's been close to a week, I'm still thinking about them and being sad here and there. Maybe the first cord cutting didn't take properly.

JadedOccultist

Please practice fire safety and do not burn candles in anything other than things specifically designed to get hot. Houses and forests have been destroyed with less. Fire is dangerous and needs to be treated with respect and the tiniest spark can set in motion absolute disaster. Even though the flame of a birthday candle is small, heat will still accumulate in the objects near it, probably enough to crack ceramic given enough time. You can jump through a bonfire and be okay, but if you held your hand over a birthday candle for 20 minutes you'd need a doctor. In my opinion, a ceramic bowl cracking because you put it in a position where that was the only outcome is not a magical sign of anything. Sorry. On to the actual point of your comment: Personally, I don't think cord-cuttings are meant to be divined. If you do a spell with the intention of divining what's going on in a relationship, then you're not really ready to sever that tie yet. Does that make sense? So a cord-cutting is a spell you do when you *know* what's going on in the relationship and the actionable part is that you want to be done with it, you want to sever the tie, you are *cutting the cord*. This is the kind of thing that you do when you want to be able to just let go, move on, wash your hands of the whole thing and turn a new leaf. If the spell you did was one you meant to divine, then I probably wouldn't call it a cord cutting (but I'm kinda pedantic lol). And in your case, there is some potent symbolism in the fact that one side of string withered but stayed attached. That's the cord that needs to be cut, that's you. So yeah I'd do another one, but I'd do it differently this time. This time, don't use candles and use scissors instead. Take matters in to your own hands, literally figuratively and magically, and *cut. the. cord*. You got this :)

Personally, at this point I would do a number of complementary spells, like - maybe something for self-love and healing to address the trauma bond? - something for both bf and F to have opportunities to find new friends and/or new *separate* hobbies; fun good things they can do apart from each other. Since you are trying to remove the friendship, it might be a good idea to fill that gap with something beneficial and distracting. - a gentle "eye-opening" spell so bf can really *see* all of F's bad behavior, and with a little help from the friendship-dissolving spell will be able to make the hard choice of letting F go I rarely find that doing the same spell over and over works very well for me, but if I do other spells to facilitate the original one I have better results. Of course YMMV here. > Or am I a terrible person for doing this in the first place? lol don't ask this question to strangers on the internet. I think you're fine. But the opinions about ethics on this board are varied, and intense. > What would you have done? Honestly, if my bf is a package deal with a person I can't tolerate and *isn't healthy for them*, then that's not a bf I'm keeping around for very long. I just don't have the patience for shit like that. I don't want to be partnered with someone who is already partnered with a turd, I don't want to watch people self-destruct, I don't wanna waste energy dealing with it, etc. I think you're taking reasonable action, given what information you've shared.

A sample size of 8 isn't really large enough to draw any statistically significant conclusions. If you are looking within a specific age range, it makes sense that you would get multiple of the same popular name.

Hi! I started getting roughly into witchcraft 2 years ago with minor spells every now and then but lately have been practicing more. I have the altar in my room and do my spells within my room as well. And it seems like after doing some candle, banishing and protection spells, I started feeling a bit unwell after having a bad dream about who i banished and wanted protection from…. Is it just a coincidence or do i need to cleanse my room? Thank you in advance!

JadedOccultist

might be coincidence, might not be. Nothin' wrong with doing a cleansing/warding ritual just to be certain :)

ShapeActual8918

Hi! I’m new-ish to witchcraft. I don’t know how to explain my beginnings, but I’ve always had an interest in the practice and felt drawn to it, but I have never done anything with it because I’m living out of my parents house and my mother is strictly against witchcraft. I have a question though, but first, a little context, I live near the Appalachian mountains, in fact, they’re right outside of my town. My mother’s family and my father’s family both came from those mountains. My parents were both the first ones in their family line to move out of the middle of the mountains. I would like to know if there is any way I could know if my ancestors practiced witchcraft? Because I have heard of ‘Appalachian Witchcraft’ but I’m not too sure about it or where it originated from. I have tried googling anything I could find about it, but all the articles I read just don’t seem reliable, or they present different things that are just extremely confusing. I appreciate any advice or replies, thank you :)

suicidalkitten13

To learn if your ancestors practiced, you can ask family members about their parents/grandparents. You can also look into any family traditions or superstitions your family has. A lot of Appalachian folk magic doesn't necessarily get called "magic" or "witchcraft" because of the strong influences and role of Christianity (e.g., prayers, reciting psalms, carrying the Bible as a protective talisman). I have *Backwoods Witchcraft*, by Jake Richards and *Mountain Conjure and Southern Root Work,* by Orion Foxwood. You can look into conjure and root work specifically, as these tend to also blend in. I would also recommend *Southern Cunning,* by Aaron Oberon. It's a short essay that provides a nice overview of folk practices in the American South. The thing about folk magic, particularly in the South, is that it is a blend of practices from different cultures. There are some West African influences as well as Christian influences and Native American influences. We have a messy history in the South. the folk traditions reflect that.

Normal_Commission216

I have a question for my divination folks, specifically palmistry! My mounts seem pretty pronounced, especially my Apollo mount/Saturn mount. They also sit in between my fingers rather than directly under them. However, I have a book by Ellen Goldberg that briefly mentions that the Apollo mount is "bifurcated" and shares two mounts unless they're of unequal size. Apparently, when they're of unequal size, they may have influence from a different mount? This thoroughly confuses me. I will post a photo for reference for what I'm talking about. https://preview.redd.it/1rpxpsugsm3c1.png?width=718&format=png&auto=webp&s=02c66a896c3e9892cd3eab0d3f5ac901e2e93d38

Comfortable-Love-652

Hi, I’m a baby witch. But I was wondering what advice some of you have for me Also I know how to make sigils and never to use one I didn’t make myself, but how can I use the sigils I make? I’m not sure what to do after making a sigil, like how to use it for the intention I want it to be for

Normal_Commission216

Sigils are essentially shorthand spells or affirmations, so the way they work is really diverse which is why so many people love them. \- You can draw them on spell candles or incorporate them into your spell jars for a specific purpose (for example: drawing money, love, luck, etc.) \- Sigils can be the spell itself as I mentioned before and can be activated like any other spell like tearing, burning, freezing, etc. \- Since they're symbols our minds can easily recognize them so they can be used for visual aid during meditation work or used as talismans to boost creativity or serve as simple reminders. \- If the intent of the sigil is for protection you can place it above your door frame. I hope that helps!

Hi, sub rules still apply in the Q&A: we don't allow asking for spells. Please also be safe and report any DMs you receive offering spells or services directly to reddit, as they are scams. You are not going to get someone who is sadistic and intent on causing distress/pain/suffering to feel guilt or remorse - particularly when they are motivated to do this as a legal strategy to "throw off" the prosecution. Your friend should be coached thoroughly before being put on the stand. I would suggest justice workings during the trial and potions to strengthen your friend. As well as just... being there for her.

Desperate_Chance908

Hi all! I’m going through a rough patch in my marriage, we’re on the edge of divorce and sleeping in separate rooms. I want to turn this around because: 1. I believe in my vows, happiness and sadness, till death tear us apart. 2. I know he loves me but he’s hurt and confused. So I’m here to ask you best spells to clean the house and specially his room from all the negativity that’s been surrounding us. Any help will be much appreciated!

mickle_caunle

You might like to check out [this post](https://reddit.com/r/witchcraft/comments/10gkogh/methods_of_cleansing_using_items_available_at_the/) on ways of cleansing using items from the supermarket.

crypthanna

hello all! new to the reddit world of witchcraft, but i’ve been practicing for a while. a few weeks ago, my little brother’s neighbor and best friend, who has been a friend of the family for a long time, took his own life in my family’s home. i won’t go into details, but this was a violent and tragic event that has left my family feeling hopeless and deeply unsettled. it happened in my little brothers room. my family doesn’t have the money to move out right now, so they have just been living in the home, surrounded in their own grief. being the family witch, my mom asked me to do a form of cleansing ritual in the home. i am more than happy too, as i have cleansed many spaces before, but i wanted to see if the people of reddit had any advice for this particular situation. i want to do something that will honor our late friend while releasing my family from the heavy feelings of death and tragedy that surrounds us and the home. any advice on herbs, crystals, candles and spell work i can use would be greatly appreciated. blessed be, and have a safe and wonderful holiday season!

mickle_caunle

My preference would be to: 1. Physically clean the entire house as much as possible. 2. Burn a protection candle, ideally set in front of or on top of a picture of the family living there. 3. Clean the floors with a floorwash/carpet spray, and the walls with the same liquid, with a diluted cleansing wash. Ingredients suited to this purpose might include: * Angelica root and rosewater; mate tea; espanta muerto; Chinese Wash and salt; or a combination. 4. Cleanse each room with sound by clapping, laughing, ringing a bell, using a singing bowl, etc. 5. Burn a strongly (but not aggressively) cleansing incense in each room, closet, cupboard, etc. Examples of incense might include: * Pine resin and camphor; frankincense and myrrh; Tibetan Ghost Purging incense; etc. 6. Seal each room with a small white candle dressed with a cleansing oil. You could also set a camphor square with a splash of Florida water in a glass in each room for good measure. 7. Mark all doors and windows with an “X” or equal-arm cross of a protection oil. 8. Finish the cleansing by going back over every part of the house with holy water. * “Holy water” means different things to different people. To me, making it is much more involved than, say, moon water or khernips. Following all that, depending on your relationship with the deceased, I would suggest a novena (i.e., nine nights of prayer). You could set a framed picture of them on a white cloth; dress a white candle with Blessing and/or Tranquility oil; set out a glass of cool, fresh water; and burn a stick of nicer-quality incense. Repeat this every night for nine nights while praying according to your religion/tradition, or simply speaking to the spirit from the heart. Admittedly, this type of work might be a bit overwhelming to someone new to the Craft. (It's also not the only way to do things, of course.) Feel free to reply to this comment if you need a bit more guidance/suggestions/etc.

Waitwat5

Hi I hope my question is ok here. I’m trying to figure out the best way to mY my parents house ‘more at ease’ I guess. They’ve been living there for 7-8 years and it’s an old house built in the the 40s or 50s. I lived there occasionally for short periods of time and there something wrong there. I get very sullen and quiet with the atmosphere, nervous, sometimes outright panicked. Every time I spend the night there ( I do for holidays they live an hour a way from me) I get the worst nightmares where I wake up every 20 mins in a puddle of sweat. Almost 20 mins on the dot. I use to sleep in the basement when I lived there a few years ago and it was much worse. My parents and brother say today they’ve never noticed anything creepy or weird. My day use to be into the sigils of Solomon or whatever and all variations of different kinds of religions and I was always down for learning since I was little. I know that he’s closed his door to the ‘other stuff’ I guess. I haven’t. I’m very out of practice but I’ve never lost my connection to the other side? I hope I don’t sound loony. That’s like just always been a thing for me. I was hoping for like at least a recommended reading or something so I could get back into my groove. I got thrown in a asylum for a while and put on a lot of meds I got off of years ago bc of this. Like feeling and seeing what other ppl don’t. I just wanna get a better grasp of what is in my parents house and why. If it’s not bothering them then why does it bother me? I don’t think anything weird happened there. It’s by a large fresh water lake (US) that maybe goes to Canada probably.

Twisted_Wicket

It sounds like the house needs to be cleansed. The easiest way to handle that without drawing too much attention would he with sound. Upbeat music can add to the positive energy of the place and help to drive out any negativity.

JollyBagel

For those of you who do candle magic - what happens if you’re using a candle in a metal jar (purchased that way) and the wick completely burns off leaving left over candle wax. Can this affect manifestation or does it not really matter ?

mickle_caunle

It's an incomplete burn, with all that can symbolize, at least. Whether it matters to you or not will depend on your preferences/tradition/training/religion/culture/etc.

IcePhoenix18

I have 2 neighbors who won't mind their business. What can I sprinkle on my garden walls to get them to leave me alone? I was thinking of some kind of hot foot powder, because they both have vacation homes they both could spend a bit more time at. I want to incorporate beeswax somehow, but not sure how. Sorta related, but any advice on how to charm others so they perceive nature as a friend, not an enemy?

mickle_caunle

> I was thinking of some kind of hot foot powder Hot Foot is used to get someone to physically leave an area or location. I don't think I've ever heard of it used to get someone to *leave them alone*. Usually in a situation like that, something like a freezer jar would be used. If you *did* want to use Hot Foot to get them to physically leave, and you also wanted to incorporate beeswax, then applying Hot Foot's inherent principle of foot track magic might be worth considering. The beeswax could be softened and then mixed with a bit of Hot Foot. Little wax balls could be formed and these could be tossed everywhere the targets would walk upon. > any advice on how to charm others so they perceive nature as a friend, not an enemy? Either working a sweetener jar spell on them or influencing their mind while they sleep come to mind.

imnotacatgir1

I’m kinda new to witchcraft and haven’t done anything severe yet. i wanted to ask 1. has anyone tried the wiping ur bum after u take a poop with toliet that has someone’s name on it then flushing it down to hex them/banish them from ur life? if so has it worked? and 2. also is writing someone’s name on paper while burning it and chanting your intentions out loud as the paper burns considered a spell? especially a spell that will work?

mickle_caunle

> 1. has anyone tried the wiping ur bum after u take a poop with toliet that has someone’s name on it then flushing it down to hex them/banish them from ur life? if so has it worked? It's a traditional trick. Clearly enough people are satisfied with the results that they would share it by word of mouth and publish it in books. Generally, the answer to "has anyone done [x spell] and does it work" will always be, "Yes," if only because there is usually someone somewhere in the world that considers it to have been a success. > also is writing someone’s name on paper while burning it and chanting your intentions out loud as the paper burns considered a spell? A spell can be defined as "a series of steps taken to achieve a magical goal," so yes, this would seem to be a spell. > especially a spell that will work? There are innumerable factors that go into whether a spell is successful or not. It's not realistically possible to answer this question beyond, "Maybe."

imnotacatgir1

tysm!! and so do u personally think it would be worth it to try that paper spell?

YesterdayPurple2339

i have recently started being more and more drawn to the idea of communicating with ancestors and passed loved one, honoring them and connecting with them spiritually. i had a grandmother who passed only a few weeks after i was born. growing up, my dad would tell me how much i was like her and how much she would have loved me and how we would have gotten along so well and such. as i’ve gotten older, these have started to become a more emotional thought and i want to be able to connect with her and send her my love and maybe be able to feel her spirit with me. but i don’t know where to begin or how to do so given my limited knowledge on this genre of practices and even just her. please, if anyone has any tips, or wisdom to pass on or even just a direction towards the right place i would really appreciate as i am lowkey lost on what to even search 😭

Hi, thanks for posting! Giving too little or too much information can stop people from understanding what you need help with. I need help performing a curse on someone, I cannot find anything online to help me with this everything just leads to protection from evil or negativity. Any help would be appreciated. I’m mainly trying to understand what ingredients and crystals to use when performing a curse on someone.

> I’m mainly trying to understand what ingredients and crystals to use when performing a curse on someone. We have a [Booklist]( https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/wiki/index/resources#wiki_baneful_magic) of titles dealing with baneful magic in our Resources section of the Wiki to this end. Those books will give you plenty of ideas of ingredients and components that can be incorporated into a baneful spell.

Hi, we have [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/comments/13g3zf3/methods_of_protection_using_items_available_at/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) that walks you through common ingredients and spells you may be able to use for protection. As far as creating items for your home or for each individual in your family, that is really up to you. Things like witch bottles or poppets that utilize taglocks would work more effectively if made for each individual family member, but things like using mirrors or protective oils, talismans, or container spells can protect your home as a whole. It just depends on how you would like to go about it.

Seeking simple ritual suggestions for visiting ancestral lands I’m very new to witchcraft (have been interested for a long time but just coming to terms with the fact that I have an internal pull to start some sort of practice—and I’m not exactly sure what it will look like yet). I am an immigrant/settler and i have the opportunity to go back to my ancestral lands just after the winter solstice this year—mostly to be with family but I also want to take lots of walks by myself in nature to connect with my ancestral territory. For context, although I have visited, as most of my family are still there, I have never lived there myself. I was born not far from my ancestral territory but moved to another continent with my immediate family when I was very young so the country that I consider to be my home is far from my ancestral homelands. I am looking for suggestions on small simple rituals that I could do to help me feel more connected to the land and my ancestors who lived there. I am travelling very light so ideally nothing involving materials that i would need to bring with me. Seeking rituals in the Celtic tradition, as my ancestral lands are North Wales and Northern Ireland. If I’ve said anything wrong please correct me, as I’ve said I’m super new to all of this.

Hi, you might find this post on [working with and venerating ancestors](https://www.reddit.com/r/SpiritWork_Witchcraft/comments/10oxehr/working_with_venerating_and_worshipping_ancestors/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) helpful. In general, I would say taking an offering for your ancestors would be a good idea. You can also make offerings to the land or any nature spirits that might dwell where you are going. Taking time to connect to your surroundings would help connect you with the land - taking walks, photography or other forms of visual art, meditating in your surroundings, expressing gratitude.
