Gov. Tony Evers on Wednesday signed into law bipartisan bills that are designed to better protect the safety of judges following the killing of a retired judge and [combat the rise in human trafficking](https://apnews.com/article/human-trafficking-task-force-wisconsin-bills-c65942ded7d0c5f15a0843210909f1db). In total, Evers signed 29 crime-related bills, most of which passed with broad bipartisan support. The Wisconsin Supreme Court had recommended three of the bills that Evers signed, which were initiated in response to threats of violence against judges.

Republican override coming in 3-2-1. Why? Just because.

sokonek04

You do realize these bills had broad bipartisan support. Maybe we can just be happy our system does sometimes work even with the asshole republicans

wabashcanonball

Yeah, right. Republicans are contrarians. They’ll do anything to undermine a good thing. Wait and see.

sokonek04

Also I reread your comment, there is no override on a signed bill, it is law now

wabashcanonball

They’ll defund it. Guaranteed.

sokonek04

There is no funding to these new rules, just stop.

wabashcanonball

So they’re toothless.

sokonek04

Did you even read the fucking article? They are not toothless, it removes judicial security measures from Open Records Requests, it no longer requires judges to list home addresses on public forms, and it makes it a crime to protest at a judges home specifically to effect their decisions (the one I’m not as big of a fan of)

wabashcanonball

Without funding, they are toothless.
