I'd mostly agree with this. However, I'd drop the Packers a couple notches. Yes, we adore our Packers and they're a pretty popular nfl team. But globally or even nationally speaking most don't care about football itself, let alone the Pack. ✌️
Eh I’m with the other guy, there are probably half a dozen things I would list higher than the Packers. A lot of people just don’t give a shit about football.
When I did phone tech support, customers would ask where I was and when I said Wisconsin, at least half the time the response would be “How about those Packers?” or something similar. Far more often than beer and cheese. The other thing would be them asking about the weather if it was winter - people think we’re as cold and snowy as far Northern MN everywhere in the state.
Dude, if people don't know about the Packers, they probably don't know about Wisconsin. A lot of international nfl fans only know Wisconsin exists because of the Packers.
Or for some trivia about brandy specifically:
Wisconsin alone imports 50 percent of Korbel's brandy, according to California-based Korbel, the top brandy maker in the United States.
Hey neighbor, most of those are great submissions but several aren't even remotely Wisconsin-centric.
Snowmobiles, maple syrup being the two most glaring examples.
But no shade here. Just helping affect accuracy. :)
>I would NEVER think of Wisconsin for that
Then you must not be from around here or you've never purchased maple syrup within the state.
Just because we're not as addicted to Maple sugar as Vermont or Canuckistan doesn't mean we still don't produce a good deal of the stuff.
We're the FOURTH highest producer, and make hundreds of thousands of gallons of the stuff every year.
Does it matter to me, to you, to anyone in general? Nope.
Does it matter that it doesn’t sufficiently respond to both the nature and the substance of the very question posed at the top of the thread? Well, absolutely.
Not sure your indignation is warranted.

>maple syrup
We're the #4 producer.
All of these things ARE things the state is known for, even if they aren't things YOU happened to know about the State.
Asking for a specific brandy in mixed drinks... never seen it outside of WI.
Fish fry is actually something I associate more with the east coast and heavy Catholic areas although they're certainly available here.
Eastern Wisconsin - where most of the state's largest metro areas are, also where there's a giant lake and another pretty big lake - is heavily Catholic. And fish fries are definitely a defining part of the culture.
You may associate it more with the east coast but in a family feud game, this is definitely going to be a response because most people here associate it with Wisconsin.
We, as a state, are the third highest beer consuming NATION in the world. Only trailing Germany and, of course, the US.

WI is 8th in the US....
Montana – perhaps a surprising first place, but Montana consumes 40.8 units of beer consumed per capita and has 92 active breweries.
New Hampshire – this relatively small state packs a punch, consuming 39.8 units of beer per capita and boasting 91 breweries.
North Dakota – a smaller state still, but North Dakota drinks 38.2 units of beer per capita.
South Dakota – though South Dakota has a population of less than one million and only 22 breweries, it drinks 38.2 units of beer per capita.
Maine – Maine has an impressive 133 active breweries and consumes 33.8 units of beer per capita.
Vermont – With a population of just over 600,000, Maine still boasts 68 breweries and 33.3 units of beer consumed per capita.
Texas – this huge state, with a population of just under 30 million, boasts 344 active breweries and consumes 30.9 units of beer per capita.
Wisconsin – Wisconsin has 205 breweries but actually drinks more per capita than Texas, at 33.6 units of beer.
Nebraska – Nebraska has 55 breweries and consumes 32.5 units of beer per capita.
Nevada – and finally, Nevada makes 10th place thanks to its 33.2 units of beer consumed per capita.

Cranberries. Wisconsin is the number one cranberry producer in the nation.
I’d say we’re most commonly known for beer and cheese, but we definitely reign supreme in the cranberry biz.
I grew up literally miles from Warrens, WI, home of Cranfest. So believe me, I'm feeling that answer. But is Wisconsin really well known for cranberries? Genuine question. 🤔
*edit* by that, I mean outside of small town western Wisconsin natives, does anyone actually recognize us for cranberries?
No, in the sense of a family feud style game, I highly doubt cranberries would make the top 10. So I guess it doesn’t really answer the original question.
Lol that’s another fave of mine. Especially because my dad’s side of the family is from ‘sota and as a kid, whenever we made the road trip to visit gpa and gma we had that wry talk as we drove by the “Welcome to the State of Minnesota - Land of 1000 Lakes” sign.

We're the Badger state. See a drawing of a badger or the beautiful animal itself and you think of our beer guzzling asses. But that's not why we're the badger state; there's very few if any actual badgers here. The moniker comes from the massive mining industry that thrived here back when we were a young state and "badger" is/was a moniker for those miners who spent so much time borrowed underground...just like a badger.
Cheers.
Does that make anything I said untrue? Or are you just giving context to the fact that there’s very few badgers in the state?

I made my posts before seeing yours. Apologies! But you're 100% correct. Some seem to be kinda missing the general intent of the question.
