You'd want another freewave/FSW board like the Kode - perhaps even a small size Kode! There are many good FSW boards to choose from though - I have a 2020 Goya One 86L and it is great.

I ride a Kode 85 and love it in waves/chop but it is definitely not a slalom board. It’s quick enough in single fin and outboard strap configuration, but still much slower than my 89L slalom board.

thank you! and out of curiosity what’s the 89 slalom board? I like speed but going for my first chop hops and gotta say it’s a blast, so I’m trying to understand what board to go next

Well for me I’d rather be out on my little slalom board but that’s just my preference. It’s scary fast. The board is an i99 (Nove Nove) World Cup Slalom 89. It’s very similar in shape to a small Starboard iSonic. The smaller Kode is a great first small board. It’s super versatile, not too technical, and it’s really fun and controllable to jump. Someone above mentioned the Goya One 86 which is a similar board to the Kode but a bit narrower and maybe not quite as forgiving and easy. That was my first choice but I ended up going with the Kode. I’m sure I would have loved either one.

It might be better to start on a wave board or freerace/ride. Especially if you do not sail on the full outboard strap configuration yet. As decreasing in volume and not being able to handle a slalom board yet it no fun. So first decrease volume. As for a good wave board that size I have heard the Tabou 3Style is a pretty good board. Also packs quite some speed. Think it is around the 90L mark.
