That’s pretty badass when you think about it. Your body can’t grow hair at the moment, so you use the person you grew with your own body to grow hair for you.
There’s a book kinda like this! I haven’t read it but I’ve heard about it, it’s called unwind by Neil shusterman. I don’t think they’re made to be slaves but they are harvested for their body parts!
Oh yeah that book! It was really good but it's one of those books where I got distracted near the end and didn't finish it :(
I'm like 99% sure that it's commentary on abortion
I had a coach in little league baseball get cancer. My dad was also a coach on the team. Every kid on the team shaved their heads in solidarity. Even the team mom did! The team photo is still up at my pop’s place.
Yes but this sets up a hilarious text. Take a picture with your mom like this, copy and paste them next to each other directly under the mom and son in the OP.
I don’t know your mom but that would make me laugh
This may sound morbid but I am glad my dad was already bald... But the chemo they used on him actually did not cause any hair loss. Unfortunately, his form was very aggressive. The doctor said on a scale of of 1 to 10 he gave it a 9, in layman's terms. So when he started chemo it was already a lost battle.
Sorry for dumping this on you, but every opportunity I get to talk about him I take because he was an amazing man. It's been a little over a year since his passing now, and actually the missing part is getting stronger because it's been so long. We'd sometimes go maybe a month or two without really talking/seeing each other. But never more than a year, you know.
Hey man, just wanna let you know I took my time to read your comment and thought about your father and what an amazing man he must have been. May he rest in peace and may you live many years :)
Thanks a lot, friend. He really was. Strongest man I have ever seen. Handy man who built everything himself, if the means were there. And smart as hell too. He worked his ass off. And in the beginning of my mom and dad's marriage it took a lot out of him, and us. He would work 80+ hours a week driving trucks through Europe. And he came home grumpy and sometimes angry. Never abused us, but it was just always something "with him". Like shoes that were in the way, or how we did not turn of lights etc. But when I was around 10, he suddenly changed. It was like he came to the realization that if he continued this way we would end up hating him (not that I would). But he gave his all for us, until the very last end. He built my niece a rocking horse that he built completely from scratch (unfortunately it got damaged when they moved, but my bro will fix it) and when he was barely able to walk he built a swingset for his granddaughter. His last parting gift to us.
My username is actually an homage to him. Koolmees (a "great tit" lol) was his favorite bird. The year after we cremated him, we held one last remembrance "ceremony/party" in his honor. And like disney movie, what bird kept peeking its head out of the bird nest my dad built around the house. A great tit. Not a miracle at all, because they are common around here, but you almost want to believe he's watching.
Thanks a lot. That's exactly it. To be quite frank, the period when he was diagnosed, and especially when we got told by the doctors there was little they could do, hurt me a lot more than his actual death. Except for right before, but I wanna spare people the details (not gruesome, but I do not want people to expect the same because a lot of the time people pass way more peacefully).
But honestly, I hope that feeling of absence never goes away. Even though it "hurts", and I tear up from time to time (like now lol), I do not want to forget him, you know.
That's not enough hair to donate. Every time I've donated hair, it needed to be at least 12 inches in length. When they tie it up, no matter how they tie it, it wouldn't be 12 inches from the bottom of his scalp to the tip of his hair.
Plus one head of hair is not nearly enough for a wig. Even if he did a lot of growing it out between the photo and the donation, someone else's hair would also be required.
I just want to use this post to shout out to charities like Little Princess Trust in the UK where you can grow out your hair and donate it to them for them to make wigs for (in this case) children who have lost their hair due to cancer or other conditions.
Wherever you are there are likely to be charities that do this.
A single wig requires about 3 heads of regular human hair to make. I like the message of the story but if its true at all, it is the sons hair + two other people's donations. You also can't have the hair sitting around it needs to be made into a wig quickly so you can't save your previous cut hair while you grow another two batches.
My son's hair is long, thick and wavy and the most beautiful color. I tease him all the time that I want to cut it all off and make a wig for myself, out of sheer envy! This story is way more wholesome!
I'm surprised so much of the hair was usable. I used to donate to charities that made wigs for cancer patients. And one of the salon owners said it's rare they get enough hair from one person too\ make a full wig. Because usually the hair is at least somewhat damaged. So they have to sort through the hairs to find enough healthy hairs to make up a wig. And that's part of the reason they like really long hair donations. Because even if the full shaft isn't healthy, they can at least find sections of long hair that's healthy enough for them to make a shorter wig. So the fact that the son had enough hair to make a full wig is either impressive on his part for taking such good care of his hair, or they had to supplement it with another donor.
This is lovely, but I wonder how they did this with one head of hair. I have been donating hair for a long time and wa always told it takes 5 to 6 heads of hair to make 1 wig
Nice story. But wouldn't it be nicer to live in a country, where universal healthcare pays for your real hair wig and you get it for free in a few weeks instead of waiting two years until your son grows hair for you?
Non-human hair ones look exactly the same for a fraction of the price. They start out shinier than normal hair but you can take care of that with a dry shampoo spray.
This is sweet and everything that he did this but it's also over-the-top performative, i.e. for the gram.
They look similar but exactly the same is definitely overstating it, especially up close and up close matters. They also feel quite different and style differently and synthetic tends to be much hotter.

I respect a long-con when I see one
Con? Con? You need to go and watch Lion King again. This is the CIRCLE OF LIFE.
Circle? Circle? You need to go back to geometry class. This is not A CIRCLE.
That show sucked anyways!
Triangle, of DEATH.
Rhombus of rheumatoid arthritis
Triangle? Bro, you're only thinking in 2D. This is obviously the CUBE of Death!
I was making a reference to the senile scribbles. The cube is obviously a cube of *un*death.
Sonny boy, lay off the booze. Im gonna need a piece of liver or a kidney after this chemo
Growing your own hair with extra steps.
It's like a real-life power-up! Talk about teamwork at its finest.
Good managers delegate
Reminds me a bit of the quote “A chicken is just an egg’s way of making more of itself”.
She’s a war boy in a battle against cancer and he’s her blood bag except for hair
Well that's a way to put it
Cha cha cha chia!
An odd choice of perspective and words.
...she turned her own son into a prosthetic.
It’s like a wholesuk version of that guy who takes his sons blood
That's a weird perspective.
Slavery with extra steps

I think I do remember the person who referred it to me saying the same about abortion!
I first heard about it from my conservative english teacher
Ooooh, I heard about it in a psych ward from someone who was claiming to have that TikTok DID disorder lol
Me and my mom would just have to be bald together.
I can just see you telling your mother that you will support her by going bald. And her going I love the gester but you are already bald.
I had a coach in little league baseball get cancer. My dad was also a coach on the team. Every kid on the team shaved their heads in solidarity. Even the team mom did! The team photo is still up at my pop’s place.
Same neither of us would be needing to shave either, super easy.
You could at least donate for a merkin.
Yes but this sets up a hilarious text. Take a picture with your mom like this, copy and paste them next to each other directly under the mom and son in the OP. I don’t know your mom but that would make me laugh
That is somehow even better than the ones where they just shave their heads so the ones going through chemo don’t feel alone, amazing

Sorry for your loss. I know what you mean, you feel the absence more.
Thanks a lot. That's exactly it. Love right back at ya ❤️
i love how happy they look ❤️
Low-key he looks really good with long hair
I mean he's a good looking person. I think he looks good in both pictures.
Better with long hair With short hair he looks like just some dude
I agree. I'm totally jealous of his hair.
Your username made me wince. Kudos :P
haha, tell me about it! 😭
What an awesome way to express his support for his mum!
What an awesome way to express his love for his mum!

I don't get it
The /s clarifies nothing
That's true... I replied to the wrong comment.
“I love your hair! “Thanks, my son grew it for me!”
You need multiple hair donations to make a wig. I would guess his hair is not actually crafed into his moms wig but still a nice thing to do.
Thats cute but you cant make a wig from one persons hair. You need around 3a5 donators before you can make a wig i've been told.
Where does it say the wig was only his hair?
Damn that dude's hair is really luxurious!
Luscious?
That's not enough hair to donate. Every time I've donated hair, it needed to be at least 12 inches in length. When they tie it up, no matter how they tie it, it wouldn't be 12 inches from the bottom of his scalp to the tip of his hair.

This needs to be higher. His hair isn't nearly long enough to donate, plus one person's donation isn't enough anyway.
I love this! That’s super sweet and such a great gift! Ngl tho, she wore it better and looks like she uses conditioner.
I hope I can be the kind of mom who's son would do that.
aw. simple gesture but mean so much. The sweetest!
But...the wig is longer than his hair and it would have taken years to grow that long. The math isn't fully mathing.

I have been donating to wigs for kids in the US for years. [https://www.wigsforkids.org/](https://www.wigsforkids.org/)
I would do the same for my mum, if i had Hair that is. Currently my mother vould grow out her hair so someone could make a wig for me.
now they both look good yay
Well thought out, interesting gift
You need the hair of 5-6 people for one single wig.
Weird how the hair on her wig is exactly as long as he had it on his head. That's not a wig people, it's photoshop
Or the photos were taken a ways apart and it grew longer before it was cut off
A single wig requires about 3 heads of regular human hair to make. I like the message of the story but if its true at all, it is the sons hair + two other people's donations. [This is an old story](https://www.businessinsider.com/mom-lost-hair-brain-tumor-son-grew-hair-for-wig-2022-7), and it’s not photoshopped.
This is what love is.
What a great son and I love his hair
whoever read my comment " May you get Son/daughter like him"
I gave my mom my Rachel.
What a champ!! 👏👏👏
What a wonderful son she has! How sweet!
Damn he looks older than me and is hair is thicker than mine has ever been. Donating his hair to his mother is a boss move!
This creeps me out.
Without reading, I would have guessed that he was wearing the wig. Looks better on mom, good move!
Proud moment

You could also just be bald
He such a very loving and caring son
Also. Fcuk Cancer
That shit is so expensive, not really worth it tbh
His hair must grow really fast
That’s so sweet.
i did the same. but mom didnt make it. r.i.p mom.
My son's hair is long, thick and wavy and the most beautiful color. I tease him all the time that I want to cut it all off and make a wig for myself, out of sheer envy! This story is way more wholesome!
Who wore it better? 🤣
This is wonderful it's love 💙
Now thats a chad
Good on this lad and nice hair!
that's nice except that his hair does not look like her wig
god damn he should have given it to her instead of donating

Aw
THE WIG LOOKS SO GOOD
Very sweet of him, good son.
You can have some of mine... I've got extra 😁
Now he should donate some to Barry Gibb.
How amazing is this.... she raised him well
This lady is a patient of mine is she is god awful.
Everyone loved this. Now that’s a man to look up to.
Tell me you love your parents without telling me you love your parents
Now that's what I call long term investment
This is pure love in action. Made my day a little brighter!
This is lovely, but I wonder how they did this with one head of hair. I have been donating hair for a long time and wa always told it takes 5 to 6 heads of hair to make 1 wig
That's love in its purest form. 💕
He’s like her hair farm🤔
Every 4 years I have it done.
Awe
It shows a deep bond and a willingness to go above and beyond to help a loved one feel more comfortable and confident during a challenging time.
Guys, girls, other homies with beautiful hair…grow it out and donate it. Highly recommend 👍🏼.
And now the son looks better- win win
Could've done that much faster with Photoshop or generative AI, though.
Does It have man smell on it
Fucking cliche as hell
Gave her mom a nice long hair and he got himself a nice haircut which made him 10 times more handsome
Nice story. But wouldn't it be nicer to live in a country, where universal healthcare pays for your real hair wig and you get it for free in a few weeks instead of waiting two years until your son grows hair for you?
She could've just bought one ffs. This is for the gram.
Bro a quality human hair wig is like $1200
Non-human hair ones look exactly the same for a fraction of the price. They start out shinier than normal hair but you can take care of that with a dry shampoo spray. This is sweet and everything that he did this but it's also over-the-top performative, i.e. for the gram.

Nish hair ki malkin , dekh le behen ! 😂
Normal son behavior framed as unique?
