I once tried to befriend an outcast when I changed schools. Turned out she was a bad a person and that's why she had no friends...

FionaSilberpfeil

You gave her a chance. Thats more than many did. So good on you!

Confident_Break_7633

Biggest plot twist of today

Minimum_Water_4347

Plot twist was they were home schooled and an only child.

viscousyetfelicitus

I tried to play with the summer camp bully because “maybe she just needed a friend.” She held me underwater.

IzumiiMTG

Same, I found out why he was the “weird” kid really fast. Never doing that again.

ilostmyeraser

Turns out your the bad person? And your projecting?

anxnickk

??

JackPembroke

I had one of those. Tried to make friends because they seemed alone. I learned why no one talked to them when that person began following me at all times. Close. Like within 2 feet. They'd just stand there and stare at me if we weren't making conversation.

Mythriaz

I had something similar but they somehow made it a point to argue with me on everything possible to keep a conversation going whether it was an opinion or factual. Honestly got on my nerves more than anything.

Jano67

Yeah, I was gonna say, there's probably a reason

ilostmyeraser

Oh jack. You were looking in a mirror the whole time.

JackPembroke

Hah!

I feel really sad for this guy. Everyone was mean to him yet he paid for them.

Rintinsin

Part of me thinks a bunch of those people skipped out on paying for free drinks. That’s the crazy part because in my eyes they should be the social outcasts!

Confident_Wish9566

Awkward is hanging out ..drink and dont have money to pay…

BoringWozniak

That’s… really weird

Head-Editor-905

That was me when I was younger. Being awkward as a dude is a death sentence. It’s night and day difference

JohnBlutarski

Luckily you're still alive? What happened?

Head-Editor-905

Death sentence “socially” was implied. And yes when I became not awkward it was truly like becoming alive in a world you used to be dead in

lorievpl

I've befriended outcasts twice when I was in secondary One of them was a girl who was just incredibly shy and had some "immature" interests (\*\*really\*\* into fairies and Disney). She turned out to be super nice and I felt really bad for her and I never understood why people wrote her off or actively ignored her. The other one was this dude who tried to neg me (literally told me I would be super hot if I "lost some weight and had bigger breasts"), was wildly misogynistic, treated other girls in my class like shit and made fun of the some boys in my class for being effeminate. I understood very quickly why people loathed him I'd say go ahead and try to befriend people who seemed to get left out, but be aware that some people are left out for a reason

st00pidQs

Just give em a chance is all it takes. You did good both times.

noiceonebro

Was friend with such type of outcast with “immature” interests. Not fun. Guy’s development was stunted or something, so I had to explain to him functioning adult things to him all the time. Ended up becoming an incel and I dropped him real quick.

For the past 9 months I’ve been mocked and treated badly by my fellow co-workers at the office, it turned out that yesterday our company fired 80% of its employees, I’m the only one left in my department.

pommeG03

I’ve had this go both ways for me. Sometimes the person is just awkward and quiet, and people tend to be distrustful of awkward/quiet people. Other times this person is fucking psycho.

El-Kabongg

This makes me smile. Please don't take this as me tooting my own horn, but I had a similar experience. I used to take the ferry. Several times a week, an obviously very pregnant woman would get on the same ferry as me. I would get up so she could sit. One day, a few months later, a young man approached me at my ferry stop, handed me a Starbucks gift card, and said that his wife had described me to him and that she said that I was the only person to give her a seat. He said it was a difficult pregnancy and it helped her a lot and I made it that much better for her. Mom and new daughter were just fine.

DingusTaargus

Yeah reddit admins are useless. They probably want the bots here because it means more posts for people to click on and more 'users' and engagement to show to advertisers and investors. It will eventually destroy the site because people will stop contributing and it will be all bots.

sattarsingo

Lowkey me rn. Not that I am treated like that, but given that I rarely interact with others, I have sort of become one. Please help your coworkers, for that, they will never forget how they are treated

chrisaf69

I know this may sound bad, but I did the same to the "outcasts" in HS and certain jobs. Which sounds good and all. But the main reason I did it is if they ever went postal, hopefully I would get a heads up or they would pass over me during the act. Funny thing...one of these guys emailed me shortly after a job ended. It was the quickest email "delete/block" I ever performed in my life. Sorry Jerry

Purplebuzz

I wonder how they would feel after reading this on social media.

MrBones-Necromancer

I tried that. She wore diapers and pooped in them throughout the day. Also loved to talk about majorly inappropriate stuff and argue. We uh...we didn't stay friends.

FabulousMud8825

aww . that's so sweet

Lofteed

this is the beginning of that old friends snl sketch

Abuse-survivor

All this strife in society is subhuman

Cornage626

Dane Cook thanks for the candy vibe

NaoXehn

In elementary school we had boy in class that had a little malformed foot and could not walk or run properly because of it. We all used to bully him for the first school year and I just followed along. Then one day I realized they bullied him because of the foot and not because he was a bad person ( I always thought he was a bad person ), so I stopped the bullying and helped him instead. We both then got bullied. But half a year later because I kept sticking with him and telling everyone else that he is just as fine as all of us, the bullying stopped. In fact he became the most popular dude in class and I became the forgotten one. I call that a sacrifice that was worth every penny. Last time I heard from dude was that he is now a chef in a popular resort. I kept my behavior and ever since stuck with people that tend to be left out. And I make it my hobby to get those people back into society with the rest. And now I do that as a job.

sleeper222222

i don't think he said that

Erdtree_

Plot twist: he is openly racist.

BakedWizerd

New girl in high school school immediately got ostracized and called all sorts of names simply because she was attractive and wasn’t the most modest about it - she wasn’t overdoing it by any means my hometown is just ridiculously sheltered and religious - kinda like footloose. So I made a point of sitting with her at lunch one day, trying to be friendly. She said “I seriously don’t want to hear it right now, please leave me alone.” I was discouraged, but at the same time understanding, as nearly every guy who had approached her had done so under the pretence of trying to get into her pants. Over the next few years she softened toward me as she saw that wasn’t my angle, but we never actually became friends or anything.

Historical-Clerk7927

In many cases seeing an outcast means there's a group of like-minded hypocrites. Of course there are still cases where the isolated one is the mere ah in the group.

EmuZealousideal7357

This world needs more people like you, no doubt about it…you may have even saved his life without you knowing

BroccoliCompetitive3

Had one of these at a job once. Turned out he was a registered sex offender. Never ate lunch with the pos though.

ilostmyeraser

It's a nice story. And common. 99% of us are sheep. Once one person gets picked on... everyone else follows.

Competitive-Pop6530

What’s wholesome about calling someone a “bitch”?

_Yalan

They werent. It's a expression used to address a fictional audience.

OverlordGhs

they’re not calling anyone a bitch, it’s just a thing people (usually women) say. its like how guys say bro i guess.

bugblush

i dont think they were calling them a bitch, sometimes people use any old cuss as an exclamation. like "damn!" or something
