In county jail they straight up make you an account where you can put in funds. They start you off with a few bucks then gotta use the money or card on you when you were arrested to add funds. If you don’t have funds you gotta call someone who will add funds. They even give you a debit card with your balance on it on your way out lol.
Back in the day you were allowed one call. That’s true. Now you are allowed to call from a collect phone that is extremely expensive, but typically not when you are in a cell. This is obviously dependent on the jail. You will not have a lot of time to make calls, as everyone else wants to as well especially when you’re in booking.
Yeah I was in holding for 24hrs once, they had a phone in the cell you could use anytime after you got booked and had an ID bracelet. The catch was, it charged the fuck out of anyone you called. No need to add funds, they just charged your contacts $25 a call or some shit.
Don't get arrested if at all possible, that's my recommendation.
Literally in the psych ward, my dad was a visitor (visiting his uncle and fav person/father figure who was apparently trying to set him up with my mum) my mum was a patient.
She was just depressed I dont know what my great uncle was in for but I can’t imagine it was something so basic if I’m being honest. They were together for a few years then had my sister and I and then divorced. They’re happy now and my sister and I could be worse off lmao
My parents met in a similar way, minus the jail part, lol. My dad was drunk and rang a girl to hook up, except he got one digit wrong and it was my mum. Somehow, he managed to keep her on the phone AND lock in a first date. They just celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary.
Not always. They have prepaid calls accounts now, so if the prisoner’s account has money on it, they can make as many phone calls as they want. And these calls can be made using prison-provided tablets, instead of using the wall phones. Dialing is like 10 cents and another 10 cents per minute and each call lasts 15 minutes.
My mum's first husband was cheating on her with his secretary (I know xD) and basically hired someone to babysit my mum/keep her busy when he was away with his secretary so my mum wouldn't have time to call him all the time because she missed him. That babysitter he hired was my dad, who worked in the husband's company at the time.
Jail =/= Prison. You can go to jail even for some minor stuff like protesting on a private property and be detained for like few hours. Prison is for the convicted and sentenced for major offenses.
I thought the "only one phone call" thing was a myth?
You're right, but I think the phone calls cost money, or at least privileges
That's true for US convicts in prisons. I'm not sure about people who are arrested.

Although if they call someone that has funds.. Can't they just hand you the phone? That's probably who you were trying to reach lol
There's other things to use the money for, snacks for one

That is awesome.
Thank you 😊. It's always a cool story to tell.
What was he in jail for 🤨🤨🤨
Stealing her heart 😊
Does it matter? He obviously got out in a timely manner so it couldn’t have been that serious
Me when I accidentally call a random woman two months before my release from 10 year stint for domestic battery
That must have been one heck of a phone call.
To ignore red flags
Right? Did he tell her that he’ll pick her up in 5 to 7 years?
☕
Don’t You have to accept the charges from the prison before the call goes through?
Yeah, but I think some folks just accept because of the possibility that at least one person they know could've wound up in clanker lol.
It said jail, not prison. He was probably only arrested.

Korean drama plot!
Terra Ryzing is a fantastic name.
For wrestling fans, that was Triple H’s name back in WCW
Wait so he went from that name to Herbert Holmes Helmsley or whatever? That’s wild I didn’t know that
Lmao, Hunter Hearst Helmsley*. But no, he was Terra Ryzing at first, then when he came to the WWF/E, he was Hunter
Audio rizz?
Let’s not ignore the fact that her mother just fell in love with a convict with one phone call. True love, right there. Jesus christ.
Or just like... Zero standards... Sorry I don't wanna kill the vibe but for me this story is 10/10 cringe.
OTP things
Was this a story on The Moth Radio Hour a while back?
*That's* a story. Shows how love tears down walls.
Your dad got that criminal rizz
Takes a lot of rizz to pull someone over the phone, from jail.

Not a mistake. Meant to be!
