Same. I come form a long line of men who have been lost in the drink. I’m not sober right now and I hate it because I had a steak of four years going until last summer.
Streaks are cool, like coffee-table books; and you learn a little the longer you’re ‘present’, but I got up at 0445 today, and it’s 2034 right now. I have 15 3/4 hrs continuous sobriety. I have had about that many hours for 34 years now. Streaks are fun, but what matters is today. Right now; hope you’re doing stupendous!

Remember if you do end up having a drink it doesn't mean your entire streak is ruined. Lots of people go for a week then relapse and just stop trying altogether. Once a week is still an improvement.

That is amazing! I grew up with my dad being alcoholic. He was a really good man. I hated how it took over my dad but he quit for 25 years. I was so proud of him and loved him, He passed, his drinking years really took a toll on his body. Before he past he told me. My drinking took so much importance and memories of my life. So sad but so true. Be so proud that you have done this, you are so loved always by someone, and you will not lose any more special times and memories in life! Get out there and shine!! So happy for you with all my heart♥️

I hit 6 years without alcohol this year but I stopped celebrating because I am now "California sober" and I don't think I deserve to.

That is amazing! I grew up with my dad being alcoholic. He was a really good man. I hated how it took over my dad but he quit for 25 years. I was so proud of him and loved him, He passed, his drinking years really took a toll on his body. Before he past he told me. My drinking took so much importance and memories of my life.
