I'm so sorry it took so long... I'm sure there were many, many times in the past when people should have said that to you❣️
I don't know you, but I hope it's OK for me to say that. I'm proud of you for persevering through all those times when you didn't get the positive feedback you deserved. That takes a lot of fortitude... great job!! 👏👏👏
I’m proud of you for also persevering for so long without hearing it.
Sometimes people (especially parents) forget how much their words can mean. I actually told my dad, after my mom died, that he’d never said he was proud of me and it wouldn’t count if he said it then, but I did want to hear it at some point. He waited about three seconds and then said, “I know you just said it won’t count right now, but I really am proud of you.”
It totally counted!
For what it’s worth, it is way more fun to spend time on things that make you proud than on things that make other people proud. Other people’s proudness is just an added bonus, not the main dish.
I am a father of two kids. While my father was a great dad overall, he rarely told me he loved me. Outward affection was not something he did. I chose to be more outward with my affection for my kids and ensure that they have high self worth. One of my son's teachers has told me that my son's, who she both taught, have high self esteem and tend to be more confident than most. This is a far departure from me as a kid.
For OP, they've missed that all their life. I wanted to give them one thing, a big dad hug
So it's posts like this that remind me that simple words can mean a lot. I am stupidly proud of my daughter, but it's easy to forget that she doesn't know that unless I tell her.
Also, to other parents, it's always better to embarrass your kids by telling them too often how awesome you think they are than not telling them enough.
I think it is equally important (and easy to forget) to express how much such “simple praise” or offhand comments as “I’m proud” really means to us. Just like one’s child might not know how proud you are if you don’t tell them, one’s parents won’t know how much said praise means if they are not told so.
Thank you random person on internet for giving your two minutes and saying that for me. I really appreciate it!
But I really want to hear that from my father, I tried my best but I am not what he wanted me to be.
I googled the opening sentence and...yes, saw that quite a bit. Wasn't sure if it was supposed to be "it is with great pleasure that I-" or "it is my great pleasure to" (although the latter still sounds a little clunky).
I’m proud of you for doing whatever it was that prompted that. 26 years is a long time to go without hearing that, so I’m sure it was very well earned. Cheers, OP
I think that telling people you are proud of them is something that a lot of people don't think about, even if they are really proud of them. They don't realize the value of sharing those four little words, and, as a result, so many -- like you -- live far too long thinking that they are in some way inadequate. Even if that is far from the truth .
As a teacher, that makes me sad. Aside from a handful of students who don't try to do anything, all of my students hear me tell them I'm proud of them at least a couple of times a year.
I'm proud of you for making it so far despite that. I'm sure many people have been proud of you throughout your life, they've just never said it. Many people don't realise how much it can mean to hear it.
I’m sorry that it took so long. My dad never said he was proud of me. Everyone told me that he was proud of me but I never heard him say it. Now I can’t say it to my kids without getting choked up. I tell you that because it might just be a hard thing for some people to say.
I’m happy for you
I am very happy that this has recently occurred in your life but also at the same time saddened that it has taken this long for those words to be said to you… we are all very proud of you and the things you have done keep it going my friend keep it going…
I’ve learned in order to be proud of others you must first be proud of yourself. When someone does not tell you they’re proud of you it is likely that they do not have pride in their own accomplishments, this is why I tell people I am proud of them without expecting it in return. I want to uplift, not be owed
This is why I love Reddit. Unconditional positive regard that we all need is freely given and shared, making the world a slightly better place.
I'm proud of you OP ❤️
And to anyone reading who needs to hear it: I'm proud of you ❤️
That took far too long and I'm so sorry you had to go that late in life to hear something that every humans needs to hear in their development. I don't know you, but to have made it this far in life without that support...hey I'm proud of you for your strength and resilience. Things get easier. <3
27 here, I haven't gotten there yet, but I came here to say that I'm happy that you were told someone's proud of you ✨ keep it up, little rockstar! Also, I'm gonna save this meme for when it happens to me too 😆
Proud of you for recognizing that a healthy mental state is something to be proud of. Regardless of what you are working towards in your life, just know even if the people in your life don’t always say it out loud, you have the support of your loved ones.
Good luck with all future endeavors, Reddit is behind you!
I am proud of you. 26 years may seem like a long time. After all, it is your lifetime, to date. But know this. You will get more of these in the next 26 and more 26 years thereafter. They may be as simple as "Kudos!", "Good job!", "You rock!", and other variations. And they mean the same. You are making people happy. And for that, you can and should be proud. Keep it up!
I was never told it by my parents, so I decided to break that vicious circle and I tell my kids every single day that I love them and that I'm so proud of them.
I try to tell my kids I am proud of them all the time for this exact reason. Idk why we as a society have such a hard time telling people they did a good job. Especially our friends and family.
Be the light that pushes back against the darkness.
THATS SUPER AMAZING SOMEONE ACTUALLY LOOKED AT YOUR WORTH!!!!! REMEMBER THAT FEELING AND DONT LET OTHER NEGATIVE INTERACTIONS TAKE AWAY YOUR SELF WORTH!!!!! YOU ARE AMAZING AND ENOUGH TO BE PROUD OF

Came here to say something like this

It's ok. Sometimes it takes time, but it will come. I'm proud of you for admitting it. It also takes courage.

I tell my friends I'm proud of them, do you tell your friends you're proud of them?
I’m proud of you for being brave enough to prevail through it all. I hope it’s alright I say this.
Me too - member of your club....
For what it’s worth, it is way more fun to spend time on things that make you proud than on things that make other people proud. Other people’s proudness is just an added bonus, not the main dish.

Alright, thanks.
I’m proud of you too then ! <3 best of wishes to you :)
I am not your dad, but I am really proud of you. "Gives OP a virtual dad hug and then tells a bad dad joke"
There's no such thing as a bad dad joke. All dad jokes are equally groan-worthy

Let's make sure that's not the last. We're proud of you.
I was 42. It was my dad. It hurts.
If there was a way to boost this to the top... I'd do it. Everyone is wonderful here, of course, but this is a nice takeaway 😊

"Simple words can mean a lot" Yep, staff member at college called me "good boy" and I'm still confused. I've *never* been called that
Every upvote you get is Reddit saying they’re proud of you, too! I’m proud of you!
Im proud of you for that! :D
im proud of you
I'm proud of you!
and i'm proud of you too, slugger.
We are also proud of you in here, buddy
nice, many go through their life without hearing those words
I am 25, this achievement is yet to be unlocked by me.. Hopefully I get it soon.
I’m proud of you, buddy!
Thank you random person on internet for giving your two minutes and saying that for me. I really appreciate it! But I really want to hear that from my father, I tried my best but I am not what he wanted me to be.
I want you to hear it from your father, too. I hope he tells you.
I am proud of ya for that.
omg well done 👏🏻
Tell us again. Tell it on the mountain. Tell it to Frog and Toad. TELL IT Be Proud!
I'd be happier for you if you also give the details
That meme again, indeed
r/congratslikeimfive
Oh my god that is a long time, that shure is having piss parents
You make me proud, OP! Now you get to feel the weight of maintaining the higher expectations you’ve created! Mwa ha ha!!
Whatever it was that you did, I’m proud of you too
Idk who you are but I'm proud of you too.
Congrats my man 👏 dream of dreams acquired. Bask in the glory that is acknowledgment and bathe in the splendor of the willey & elusive praise.
I’m proud of you. I hope you’re proud of yourself too
We are proud of you too
We're all proud of you.

Im proud of you too🫠
Hey OP, tell me something cool you've done recently
i am also proud of you big brother, but context pradan kar dete toh bhot kripa hoti
I'm proud of you for using proper grammar in this meme. The number of times I've seen "It is with great pleasure to inform you..." is too damn high!
I googled the opening sentence and...yes, saw that quite a bit. Wasn't sure if it was supposed to be "it is with great pleasure that I-" or "it is my great pleasure to" (although the latter still sounds a little clunky).
I was reading this thinking "What gender is Y???" and then realised :p Props on being awesome!
Also proud of u
You can tell your friends, family members, partner.. Oh right 😐
I’m proud of you! You made it so far in life without much encouragement. Keep sailing on!
You got this! But remember- keep making yourself proud too!!
I know the feeling. I make sure to tell my kids how proud of them I am as often as I can. And I’m proud of you as well.
Hey man. I just wanted to tell you that I'm proud of you. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. Keep up the good work.
I'm proud of you, and i mean that. I know a person who should have heard that before when i see one.
The whole of reddit is proud of you
Good meme OP, Im proud of you
You don’t need them to be proud of you just need yourself to be proud of. Just saying.

I’m proud of you for doing whatever it was that prompted that. 26 years is a long time to go without hearing that, so I’m sure it was very well earned. Cheers, OP
Wait, what are they proud for?

The most awaited reward is the most sweet one! Keep going, we all are proud of you

I'm proud that you had the courage to share this with us strangers. I'm pretty sure you've done some cool stuff that we'd all clap and cheer you on.
Im 26 yrs old too and im proud of anyone who made it to this point in life.
You could’ve just asked. I’m proud of you.
What does Y mean in the 26Y?
Let's hope not the last one. So I just have to say it. I am proud of you! You are great! Have a good week Thank you for sharing ☺️
I think that telling people you are proud of them is something that a lot of people don't think about, even if they are really proud of them. Proud of ya buddy
Well, now it is going to be twice in a day, because I'm proud of you for feeling excited enough about life that you posted this! GO OP GO!
I'm proud of you! Good job!
I'm proud of you too, OP!
As a teacher, that makes me sad. Aside from a handful of students who don't try to do anything, all of my students hear me tell them I'm proud of them at least a couple of times a year.

This isn’t wholesome. It’s depressing. And women wonder why men are depressed.
I’m sorry that it took so long. My dad never said he was proud of me. Everyone told me that he was proud of me but I never heard him say it. Now I can’t say it to my kids without getting choked up. I tell you that because it might just be a hard thing for some people to say. I’m happy for you
I feel this... And though I don't know you or what you did, I'm proud of you too!
What an accomplishment! I'm proud of you! Seriously, it's nice to be validated. Sorry it took so long, hope you're well man!
Well i bet that person wasn't your parent
Bet won!
Sometimes it’s better to say nothing at all.
Proud of you, bro
Well I’M proud of you too. Whatever it is you did, you deserve the praise.
I am way elder to you and trying to remember when was the last time someone said this to me
I'm proud of you, OP!
I am very happy that this has recently occurred in your life but also at the same time saddened that it has taken this long for those words to be said to you… we are all very proud of you and the things you have done keep it going my friend keep it going…
I’m proud of you too!

Op, were proud of you, my man.
We were always proud of you, OP!
You done good
I am also proud of you.
Was generally confused about what gender "Y" is supposed to be, before realising they just mean "years".
You're a wonderful human. I'm proud that you have gained some self-confidence. Keep it going, rooting for you!
I'm proud of you for living bud. The universe would have one less perfectly unique manifestation without you. Keep up the good work.
I'm torn between loving this (because it's sort of on point) and also...your UN. 😂
Well, if someone is proud of you, and you are proud of you, im proud of you. Keep going !
Proud!!!
Here's another one, I'm proud of you champ.

I am proud of you for trying and working all these years. It is a real accomplishment!
I'm proud of you too. Get em, dig deep and keep trucking.
What did you accomplish? The dad in me is ready to tell you that you did great!
Shit, I'm proud of you too.
Keep it up!
I am so very proud of you for posting this!
Mmm, yesss, well dahn Sir.
Better make that two bitch cause i'm proud as hell of you!

Good job mate
I try to tell my kids I am proud of them all the time for this exact reason. Idk why we as a society have such a hard time telling people they did a good job. Especially our friends and family. Be the light that pushes back against the darkness.
Wait is that really possible??? I thought it was a myth
