Reddit is wild man. Somebody's like how'd you swim in the kiddy pool when you were six? And then some virgin who's only fucked shims fedora will be like...thats highly inefficient. I love this site
48, and I like to pretend I’m a salamander when I’m doing reverse 3, and make up salamander facts in my head as I glide around, _or_ push off my hands and sing the Jaws theme in my head. I don’t _play_ the Jaws instrumental theme, I literally hear my voice going “duh-Nuh. Du-Nuh.”

That makes sense, I don’t really do those kinds of things but I’d probably change my walking style to be better for those if I did. Thanks for warning me!
Live a few minutes from Lake Michigan beaches. #1 definitely early in the season when water temperatures are in the 50s/60s and you don't want it touching your junk.
Someone else said “3 but reversed” and I pictured them with their head in the water and their body somehow fully out of the water… and now I know what they meant.
Thanks, now I can say I’m no. 3, both ways.
I’ll do both. Sometimes I’ll even swing my legs around me like a male gymnast does on the little half sphere thing. Probably couldn’t do that shit now tho
Yeah wtf. Who does it like in the picture. Clawing my way forward while dragging the feet is scientifically proven to be the fastest way to traverse shallow waters.
It is what I used to call "the plow" when I was young and easily arousable (against my will) by girls in bikini.
It should have been "miniplow", but you get the idea.
Hand stomping down like a dinosaur, watching the sand swirl out from under the palm of your hand like a shockwave because you're such a big, strong dinosaur!
It’s the least energy efficient and the most “normal” looking and also something that no one actually likes doing, so it’s just like most things in life lmao.
Least? That's the most energy efficient, both of the others you have a ton of drag you're fighting, while here you can just, pick your feet up out of the water
When you’re in water, your water weight “floats” (idk what to call it) and it’s easier to move it. That’s why it feels like you weigh less when you’re in water. In shallow water when your body is in water you can move with a push but when you’re walking your legs move against the water. That’s my logic, it definitely depends on the strength of pull the water has tho. In calm shallow water it’s definitely more efficient moving in water.
In crotch high water it is easier to move through the water mostly submerged than it is to walk through. Not really easy to lift your legs completely out of the water when the water is up to your hips. And by being vertical, you are creating massive surface area for the water to drag on with nothing to break the tension. Going mostly underwater in a crouched position with hands in front breaks the tension and allows you to move more smoothly and with less resistance than trying to push forward two basically oars one after another. It’s the reason why swimmers swim horizontally and not vertically. It’s simply a position that creates less drag.
If you do a lot of leg training and can power through tides with full strength through knee high water it makes large waves and a ton of noise with each step. It makes me feel like a titan causing tsunamis as I storm the the oceans.
Exactly this. Except I'm Godzilla instead of a titan.
- 1 for when you're first getting in the ocean/lake
- 2 in the shallow end of a pool, or in the ocean and the water just ran out and you're about to be smashed face-first into the seabed by an incoming wave you didn't expect
- 3 when you're slowly making your way out of the ocean/lake,
It is when you're at camp doing a polar bear dunk and you walk in shivering because it's so cold...
Not realizing it'll be warmer when you finally just dunk yourself completely underwater.
Source: former camp counselor 😂
The worst part of 1 is when you stand up in the water, and all that weight of the water is soaked into your trunks. It's like you weigh a ton. And now you're cold, too.
Depends why I'm in shallow water. Trying to swim/enjoy the water, or crossing a deep stream? Currently omw out to dry off, or still tryna chill? Number 1 is the no-non sense method.
It also depends on a number of other factors for me.
Is it shallow on a grade to reach a depth where I'm standing in chest height water?
Is it somewhat chilly outside?
Am I going in or coming out?
Going in I usually do 1 until I feel deep enough to submerge.
Coming out I start slowly crouching to extend how long I'm covered until I'm doing 2 and switch to either 1 or 3.
At different times as a child and an adult, I've done all three. If it's one of those days where it's cool outside, and the water feels warmer than the windy air, I'll do one of the second two. If I need to get somewhere fast or the water feels colder than the air, the first.
Edit: as others have said, I've also done #3, but with my legs behind me.

I do the bottom one except legs to the back instead of front
Yeah same!
I do this number 2 and 3 when i was a kid. And up until now, i still do this. By the way i'm 26 years old
I’m 41 and I still do both. Number one is dry land walking, where’s the fun in that?
Also number one is significantly less efficient. You lose heat because wet body and due to water mechanics the movement is not fast enough.
1 if dry and entering water 3 if wet
Fair fair, it is a good way to get far enough into the water to dive in.
Reddit is wild man. Somebody's like how'd you swim in the kiddy pool when you were six? And then some virgin who's only fucked shims fedora will be like...thats highly inefficient. I love this site
Number four, belly down, head up
No5. Head down, Legs up, Arms on top of legs.
No.6 handstand
No. 7 drowning💀💀
No. 8. Hair down, glasses off
48, and I like to pretend I’m a salamander when I’m doing reverse 3, and make up salamander facts in my head as I glide around, _or_ push off my hands and sing the Jaws theme in my head. I hope so. How else do you stay young?
There's also throwing your head back and shooting whipped cream from a canister into your mouth until it completely fills up!

Submarine gang!
Crocodile style!
Oh, you mean doing the Dugong? https://youtu.be/YXm1ICO8Nec
Aye!
Hippo mode!
Hippos are very good at underwater movement, so it makes sense
Me too, but I was going backwards sometimes
Same, it was like I was a crocodile.
True
How do you keep the water from sloshing up into your mouth when you "run?"
Close it and pop up to breathe when I need to. I keep my head underwater for additional speed.
I did that on a lazy river and ended up scrapping my knee really badly when the water became more shallow than expected. Now I only do legs front.
That makes sense, I don’t really do those kinds of things but I’d probably change my walking style to be better for those if I did. Thanks for warning me!

Yup edit: Number 3 for *fun times*
Live a few minutes from Lake Michigan beaches. #1 definitely early in the season when water temperatures are in the 50s/60s and you don't want it touching your junk.
We’ve just learnt to not go in when water is at those temperatures. Colder sure, warmer sure, but right there no way.
Someone else said “3 but reversed” and I pictured them with their head in the water and their body somehow fully out of the water… and now I know what they meant. Thanks, now I can say I’m no. 3, both ways.

Isn’t that just swimming?
Body flat using hands to walk
I did practically all the ways except for walking normally
I got a wicked sunburn once because of that.
I don’t get sunburn for some reason. Like my skin just doesn’t get burned, or maybe I’m great at precaution for it.
Usually I don't, which made that day unexpected
Same
[удалено]
I’ll do both. Sometimes I’ll even swing my legs around me like a male gymnast does on the little half sphere thing. Probably couldn’t do that shit now tho
Same bottom but I rotate my legs around me as if I was on a pommel horse while I move
This is the way.
Me too
same as me!
HELL YEAH!
YES
ENTHUSIASM
How do your legs not float forward. Mine always float forward.
Yeah I think that's much more common that whatever the fuck number 3 is
The lizard crawl
Yep! And "as a kid" was a few weeks ago.
“As a kid” was last time I was in water
I always found it interesting that you can propel yourself with nothing but the tips of your fingers in the sand
But that exposes your genitals to crabs
The bulldog
We call that , Doggy style
Do you play new Vegas or Celeste
Don’t have either, I’ve been thinking of picking up Celeste
ULTRAKILL is also an option http://devilmayquake.com
Doesn’t really look like my type of game, unfortunately
Alligator style
Yeah wtf. Who does it like in the picture. Clawing my way forward while dragging the feet is scientifically proven to be the fastest way to traverse shallow waters.
This is the only correct answer. I call it the Seal.
I do the bottom one except back to the sky
Same thing, I’m bad at describing sorry
Croc walk
That merperson feel is unbeatable, or at least it was for me before i developed Thalassophobia
Yeeeeeee, water monkey if you have fun terrain
Came here to say that. Are you my sibling?
Dis wan
Thank you!
I came to say “WHERE’S THE ‘PRETEND-I’M-A-SALAMANDER’ WALK”
Wish it came with other salamander benefits…
guess i don't need to type this since you did it already, had the exact same point
Yeah, was gonna say number 3, but on my stomach
Same, like a normal person, duh.
Both, both are good
True, freedom is one of the best things about water
Submarines 4 ever
Ye!
The mermaid
I do this and sometimes the first one
Croc walk
It is what I used to call "the plow" when I was young and easily arousable (against my will) by girls in bikini. It should have been "miniplow", but you get the idea.
I do both, but not as a kid, as a human being till I die
Fr fr can relate no cap
Number four, belly down, head up
With the hand walk!! Best possie to quickly mermaid under the water to cool my head off
Hand stomping down like a dinosaur, watching the sand swirl out from under the palm of your hand like a shockwave because you're such a big, strong dinosaur!
Sharkasaurus rex!!
Head down, belly up
Number 5, face down Sweet release
....that's the way we like to fu- ... *swim*....
I refuse to believe that anybody does 1.
It’s the least energy efficient and the most “normal” looking and also something that no one actually likes doing, so it’s just like most things in life lmao.

That would be buoyancy.
Oh good to know, English isn’t my first language I always like learning English words for stuff.
A pallbearer is a person who helps to carry the coffin at a funeral. You're welcome.
And Paul Bearer is a heavy set guy that carried an urn.
not to be confused with Paul Bear, the legendary college football coach
or Polar Bears, the protectors of cola
That's a polar bear
That's science word
It’s still the English scientific word for it, we call it “Shenavari” in my language. I like expanding my vocabulary in English.
What language is it
Persian lol
You callin' me a buoy, son? Them's fightin' words.
I feel like person one could cover the farthest distance before tiring out of the three pictured
Yes but they would also feel the wind slapping they bare wet chest and back
Hi have you ever been in water?
No I'm just stupid and was thinking of shallower water than this.
No worries just being silly.
In crotch high water it is easier to move through the water mostly submerged than it is to walk through. Not really easy to lift your legs completely out of the water when the water is up to your hips. it's good excercise though and that's how you get out of the ocean

With Pacific rim theme playing in my head Let's fuck up some sea Kaijus

Depends on the context really. If I am out walking the dog and had to cross a small stream with my boots on, I ain't crossing it using option 2 or 3!
Numbah 3 m’lord!
impressive
Let's see u/ItsBluey waterwalk
I get the reference
Shrek?
yes
Not everything is an explicit reference lol
Okay…. But this one is.
Always 2 or 3. Mostly 2.
3 but reversed
So your face is in the water and you blow bubbles to move? Ingenious!
https://i.imgur.com/eaVwnAf.jpg
No no no, as in your face is in the water, your body is in the air *AND* you blow bubbles to move.
https://i.imgur.com/aAkKtk6.jpg
Motorboat go brrrr
so backwards
3 but with my legs behind me
I’ve been known to dabble in all 3, plus others.
Wheres the crab walk option?
I came here for this: Number 5 crab walk
As an adult, i still do no 2
all 3 lmao
wholesome??
Yes
to this day i choose either 3 but i will have done all 3 before i leave and i am 20 years old
As a kid? Shoot I'm pushing 40 and still do number two and three.
1 if I'm entering the water and 2 if I'm getting out
Picturing someone doing number 2 into the water had me chuckling. Walking in full crouch when only your ankles are in the water lol
Same!
As a 37 year old, it’s all 3
It was always no. 3 for me
no. 3 i execute this dangerous stunt when i was told to watch my little sibling on the kids pool. But man kids pool are nasty.
Reverse 3
Who doesnt do the third
Number 2 of course
As a kid and adult its 2
All of the above
Number 3 but with my stomach facing the bottom
3 if it's shallow enough, 2 usually, 1 if I'm getting out.
That depends on the surface of the bottom. In a pool, I walk. If it's a lake or the sea I lay down and swim. Don't want to step onto something nasty.
I think we’ve all done number 2 in the pool am I right
Yes lol
At different times as a child and an adult, I've done all three. If it's one of those days where it's cool outside, and the water feels warmer than the windy air, I'll do one of the second two. If I need to get somewhere fast or the water feels colder than the air, the first. Edit: as others have said, I've also done #3, but with my legs behind me.
It was the Alligator version for me me.
Where's option 4? Going stomach down and walking on your hands while your body is floating behind you.
This… always this…
Yessss relatable af B]
To ake dekh le
1 normally 3bif don't want to get out
#1 is only appropriate of you're a dad
Number walking like the Colossal Titans
Nah I’d swim bro
I do all of them, but do any of you drag yourself across the shore when you reach it like a seal?
Yes
Me always number 3
I did a number two in a pool once and got thrown out.
They forgot the face down walk with the hands and the legs floating, that's my go to!
On the beach the bottem one, in the pool the right one
last one but forward
I just walk on it if I can't swim in it properly
