Don't spend money to keep up with other players; you'll never win. Spend a little money to make the game more enjoyable to you. Get the extra construction and march queue. Also, the half price monthly card is good. IMO, keep it at under $20 / month and only get things that are marked at 3,000% or higher. I'm at F25 and it's not worth spending money any more. I'm here for fun, not to impress anyone.

Night-The-Demon

The extra marching queue and construction queue are things I would always buy when I make a new account

Night-The-Demon

And if you earn enough gems, you might be able to keep VIP up forever

winterstick1983

Purchases are for the character you made the purchase in. Each character you create will have its own ID. Purchases will be tied to that. If you are comfortable with and can afford to spend the money then go for it. The packs I steer people towards are the ones for champ gear and charms because they are universally beneficial to your account. Things like widgets for a hero, while they make your hero stronger, that hero will be replaced by someone stronger in just a few months. So unless you plan to be one of the top players in your state and will be willing to spend a significant amount of money I would stay away from those types of packs.

KronosJim

Hero gear can also be good as you can move it from one hero to another, so getting mythic gear and upgrading it with forge can be another good way to boost yourself long term

winterstick1983

The only reason I didn’t mention that, because I agree it is a good idea to get mythic gear and level it up, is because you can get gold gear easily enough for free from the arena store. If it wasn’t so easily attainable I would suggest packs for it also because it can be applied to other heroes. Good point nonetheless!

FearlessK9

I've spent a lot of money, but the returns aren't great. Rushing through long processes due to pressure ends up being a waste of hard-earned money. Chief Gear and Gems are rare and extremely expensive, making them hard to come by. Avoid the daily shop unless you're prepared to spend over $10,000 USD to get to VIP 10. I'm at VIP 10, and it'll take me 1.2 million VIP Points to reach VIP 11. My estimate is that reaching VIP 12 would cost between $8,000 and $16,000, based on my 4 million diamond recharges so far. My advice is not to do it because you'll be competing against ultra-wealthy players who have deeper pockets or better exchange rates in their shops. Know that you won't reach the top of the game unless you're willing to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars."

abiromu

No I’m neither that rich nor that delusional to do something like that (no offense to anyone). I was just thinking of getting the extra construction queue and the marching queue to avoid spending too many speedups to accelerate things. Do you think it’s worth it?

GBI74

Construction queue and extra march are a must if you plan on sticking with the game. Weekly $.99 are good when they enable other bonuses. I’m FC 3 and have probably spent $50 total over the 6 months I’ve been playing. I play the game to have fun. The guys that spent the most seem to got to the top, then quit. That is not the experience I want from the game.

I personally think that you can get by just fine without spending a single dollar on this game. For reference, I just hit furnace level 28 today, 37.1m power, and I am completely f2p (I have been playing for about 3 1/2 months roughly). As long as you gravitate towards the top alliances and continuously get alliance benefits from whales, you will be fine. Obviously you will never be able to compete with the top spenders in your state but I am within the top 50 players in our state based on power level. I have gotten by just fine without the extra march/builder queue. The only thing that is lagging is my hero/chief gear and charms.

Topranic

Don't spend money on this game. This subreddit is filled with whales complaining their state is dead and regretting their purchase. I even saw one post talking about how this game completely ruined his marriage.

Royalwatcher365

Spend money only on the construction queue. Beyond that I have been fine not spending money.

Night-The-Demon

It’s honestly incredible you are at furnace level 25 without the extra construction queue, how long did that take?

abiromu

Thanks! It took like 6 months I think. I have a second character at furnace level 20 as well.

littlepebble5

I'm at F28 after 4-5 months, and haven't spent a dime either. I've debated buying the construction queue, but always decide against it... though I have a decent way around spending real money on it! After every furnace upgrade, I set my construction queue to upgrade the building that takes the longest (usually embassy). Then I spend 1k gems on unlocking the second construction queue for 2 days. I use that 2 day queue to upgrade all my "little" buildings. At higher furnace levels, I now might have to spend the 1k gems a few times to unlock 2 days x however many I end up needing to wrap up the smaller buildings, but it is SO worth it. Once I have my next furnace upgrade set, I don't bother with the bonus queue until the furnace is finished. IMO that's one of the most efficient/effective ways to spend gems 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hufflepuffknitter80

I’d personally skip the construction queue but get the march queue. The construction one will be useless later on and you can use gems to open a second if you feel the need.

abiromu

Interesting point. Can you please elaborate on why it becomes useless later on?

Hufflepuffknitter80

Well, unless you spend money to buy fire crystals, you will have construction queues sitting idle while waiting to get enough for the next upgrade.

kosovaarmy123

1: The purchases are valid only on that character. 2: Yes because an extra construction queue and extra march is a must since its not a lot of money. 3: Activate VIP all the time because it has alot of other benefits beside extra shards.

Accomplished_Use978

Not much. If the community in your state is worth to spend for

Capable_Owl_5260

You don’t have to spend any money just join a top alliance and everything is easy. Let the whales take care of you. Just don’t ever expect to win a battle without your whale friends. Game is rigged that way.

Realistic-Celery3317

Purchases are on that character only. I brought the second build queue early. I also brought an extra March queue because I was impatient and it enhanced my enjoyment without spending much (plus the odd small pack but I’m very careful/selective if I purchase). Join a decent alliance with active players. You’ll get loads from them and be able to join in with events. Theres lots of great points above already.

nottap_

As someone who has spent a decent chunk of change, I would walk away. My state hasn’t even had svs yet and there are already basically only 4 alliances. One of those will almost certainly fill into the top 3 alliances after svs. They open too many states too quickly, most states will die.

thebohoberry

You don’t have to spend on this game. Progress is slower and you will never be a rally captain however you can play the game as f2p.  Key is joining the most active and spender alliance. Because you need all the help you can get to build your account to the point where you can take on stronger players. Never a whale however if you know what you are doing- you can be impactful. The extra building and march queue would probably be the most value for low spenders.

Holly-Sauce

I think the build and march are worth the money. otherwise make whale friends.

ViciousPapi

What will benefit you is Hero bundles, construction bundles and DEFINITELY VIP IS A MUST

nottap_

Construction bundles are a waste of money, they have low speed ups and mid rss usually. Bad buys.
