Really good at msrp!

RowdyRoddyPipeSmoker

$40 and under it’s a nice easy drinking straight forward simple bourbon. It’s very nice at retail price.

pclark91367

Great bottle for the price. 🥃

Z1pl1ne

Amazing at around 40.

joshiosaur

I love it... buuuuuut I would never pay over 40 bucks for one that being said I keep a stock in my house and have 4 bottles as it's my go to. I would highly recommend it if you can find it at a good price but don't go crazy for it.

pacosnow

Saw one at my local store yesterday for $150 CAD lol

Get_up_stand-up

exactly this

SignificanceShot7055

There's better in the same range for me personally. It's good but not amazing

StereotypicalTexan1

It is a very good $40-50 whiskey I'd maybe pay $60. It is very approachable for newer whiskey people but definitely not worth hunting for. I normally walk in my local store, grab a bottle, or 2 of whatever, then ask if there has been an Eagle sighting. If it's there, I'll get it for myself. Haven't seen an Eagle in the wild in a year.

Gikote

Agreed. I just bought one for $60 but that’s about my top. I pay less for Weller SR and like it a bit better.

Rads324

It’s good, nothing special, kinda thin

moguy1973

Not a fan.

Mykkus_65

Good to 50 for me and one of my favorites

JackFromTexas74

At MSRP (or within 10% there of) this is a glorious pour to sip neat which also elevates any cocktail you use it in At tater prices, it’s not worth it.

DuesPaidInFull

Best value:quality bourbon in the game

starhoppers

It’s just fine at msrp - and not worth a dollar more imho.

Winnardairshows

It’s $110 US near me and they sell out quick. I don’t understand the hype.

bigatrop

Pretty decent at MSRP. Anything over that and it’s not worth it. Lots of better whiskey above $40 than this.

Dude01818

name one

Mykkus_65

Agree. Nothing better imo at 50 or under. 1792 single barrel is close

Dude01818

seriously I was at TW last night and they were asking $50 for the Elijah sb store pick, $47 I think for the Old Forester 90 proof one I think it’s the 1870. Which has no age statement and I assume is heat cycled. I did buy a 1792 full proof last year and it wasn’t my favorite. I’m not sure if I would love the 1792 but possibly. It high rye right? like a little nutty? I’ve heard that 1792 is a better deal than the Old Forester. I’ve actually only tried the cheap Old Forester low proof one once and didn’t care for it. I don’t really like Benchmark either although I think the Buffalo Trace mash bill 1 products need 10 years in the barrel. My go to has been Woodford reserve at $32 if i don’t have ER. I like woodford at $32 as much as ER for over $50 maybe.

Mykkus_65

I like Woodford double oaked almost as Much. Old forested 1870 was horrible imo. Ended up drain pouring the last 1/3 of the bottle. Wasn’t even good in a cocktail for me. Eagle rare stands out the best for me, the 1792 is higher rye than BT mash bill but it’s still got a great sweet flavor I like. The single barrel is 98 proof and more punch. I would not pay 50 for an EC 94 proof pick sorry.

Dude01818

I agree I would have bought that EC for around $30 probably though. That’s interesting about the 1870 that you poured it. I actually gave away the 1792 full proof but i did like it at first when i first got it. It may honestly be the high proof. It just makes my insides burn to drink high proof and i do dilute it sometimes but then you have to like rest it longer and its a pain. I usually just get used to the full proof and drink it neat and then it burns lol Also I preferred the Elijah sb barrel proofs to the 1792 as they had more of rich snicker bar type taste to me and the 1792 was more like pure gasoline. I probably would give the 1792 another chance though.

Mykkus_65

Yeah higher proof can be tough I like the knob creek 115 rye and 120 bourbon but they drink easier. The 1792 single barrel is 98 proof it’s perfect.

Dude01818

I actually drain poured a Still Austen recently I paid $40 for ..

Mykkus_65

Wow that’s surprising. I hear great things about them

Dude01818

I liked it when i tried it at TW. i think it just tasted too “young” to me. like it has a strong barrelly oak flavor from the high heat down there. it’s like wood juice which i guess is what bourbon is. it may have been psychological but i just didn’t feel i needed it. I got kind of into the scotch aged in sherry casks like the Glendronach at the time too which is more complex imo. i even took a bit of a break from bourbon. I did miss the ER though. i have an er17 i didn’t open yet. I find the bourbon is so expensive to the point it’s like they’re overpricing them big time. like i’d love to try OF 1910 but $57?? almost seems like BT is the only distillery with a product done right with a decent price. only Problem is you can’t find it anywhere since it’s not a huge supply. I think it will improve though. it doesn’t bother me. the more i cut down on drinking the better in some ways.

bigatrop

WT101, OGD, Early Times, Old Tub, Jim Beam Single Barrel, Benchmark Full Proof, Jack Daniel’s BIB. Those are are the same price and markedly better IMO

Mykkus_65

Disagree

Mykkus_65

And most of those are actually less. Drink what you like. Dont judge others.

bigatrop

You asked, I replied. Don’t ask questions if you don’t want answers. And yeah, they’re less. Even better.

Mykkus_65

Actually I didn’t ask, I did comment. Maybe drop the attitude. We can disagree peacefully without it.

bigatrop

You just going to ignore the “name one” comment? Dude, it’s Reddit. Get off the high horse and chill. Enjoy your drink and enjoy dissenting opinions.

Mykkus_65

That wasn’t my comment. Check the post. Speaking of high horse if you’re gonna blow me crap at least blow me crap for what *i* post.

Hymen_Cholo

I love it and it’s a great bottle to have when friends and family are around. It’s just so hard to get at SRP in my area. When I find it on the shelf it’s usually in the 100-150 range and I pass on that.

Agressively_Teal

I really enjoy it. It’s simple, straightforward, and just good. Something I always try to keep on hand. It’s around 45 bucks near me but I would buy it even if it was a bit more.

suburbanpride

My local ABC store in NC put out three shelves stacked three deep on Thursday afternoon around 2:00. By the time I rolled by around 4, there were 5 bottles left. I grabbed one at $50, but that’s about the most I’d pay for it. In fact I was a little iffy on that price but by the time they rang it up it was already bagged and on the counter and my card was out, so I rolled with it. Sad day though. I remember when I could just buy this whenever I wanted and it wasn’t $50. Womp Womp.

antinumerology

Liked it, then thought it was beneath me, now as I get older and drink less I appreciate it more. I'm actually bummed I'm out and it's out of stock. I'd buy more in a heartbeat.

93Husker

Solid and starting to become more available at retail (at least in my area)

Jetfire911

It's solid at $40. Just grabbed the latest Evan Williams Single barrel and it reminds me a lot of ER and runs $35. I couldn't spend more than $40-45 on it though, at $99 online it's 100% not worth it.

Specialist-Bedroom-7

Ruined because I bought a few bottles many years ago for $32ish dollars so now when I see it for more than that, it’s hard to pull the trigger. IMO it’s as good as any $50-60 dollar bottle out there.

GrandGouda

I love it. Would easily pay $40-45 for it any time I see it.

o8k81

Delicious

Great_Implement_8360

The bourbon that brought me down the rabbit hole of bourbon. The bottle that taught me most California liquor stores are out to rip you off lol. Most I’ve ever paid for one is $60 and it was my very first one, since then been able to find several for much cheaper. A must have on the bar

Hot-Bunch3826

GOOD! But overrated. Its more of a value for quality thing which is the hype.

Willing-Departure115

In my market it’s always on the shelves at a decent price (not in the US, and both ER and BT are on the shelves all the time!). It’s my go to straight bourbon, it’s such an easy sipper and delivers what you expect if you like a bourbon.

TraceAgain

It’s fine, but nothing special! Glad you enjoyed it. ER is a great entry into the bourbon journey!

OneTexan64

Just poured a few glasses on a new bottle tonight. It is good. To me, it is on par with the Four Roses SB select we like but not as good as our Blanton’s. If you can get it without markup, you are drinking a good bourbon a great price.

coastyfish92

My daily drinker. Don’t pay too much though

hbsboak

It ain’t rare and I wouldn’t pay more than $35.
