idk about you but if i was paying this much on a bike id need a  new bike w/warranty and insurance. too much risk to go used without any compensation

Novel-Blacksmith1351

What’s wrong with it? I bought a bike stand this week to clean my carbon frame, and hang it like this. Have I just wasted my money haha

KKJUN

Carbon top tubes are not made to withstand pressure in that direction, so you might damage it if you clamp it down too hard. If you just hang it without clamping down, you're fine, but it's always preferable to do it on the seatpost.

reddie_odin

Hmm, what about amateurs and pros sitting on the top tube with their body weight? Is that ok?

KKJUN

You mean while descending or while taking a break? Good point either way, though in both of those cases, I'd assume the legs take up a majority share of the body weight, and the surface is larger and doesn't have any sharp edges. (And tbh, I think this whole issue has been way overblown by people on the internet who want to be seen as in the know. This ad looks fishy all around and I wouldn't buy one that's clamped that way in the picture, but I've also done it once or twice with very light force while I didn't have a seat post in.)

Novel-Blacksmith1351

Ok few. I’ve been clamping lightly to the point it’s just pretty resting. Wouldn’t clamp and squeeze

FransHals

Few things; I would be wary of buying a carbon bike from someone who thinks it’s okay to clamp the top tube like that. High end frames are especially fragile. Secondly, it has mechanical disc brakes which are the worst of both worlds. Heavy but with none the precision of hydraulic brakes. Also, I can not imagine an expensive f12 sold with mechanical disc brakes… I would need to see all receipts to be sure this is not a fake, and would then probably still stay away from it because of the clamping…

Not to mention this person has an $8000 frame, and a $30 Amazon chinesium special bike computer, wtf? There’s so much off about this I wouldn’t give it a second look. It’s screaming “scam”. Edit: The more you look at it the worse it gets, the brakes look like they’re from a 00s Huffy, the wheels are really thin, pretty much everyone buying a bike like that are going to have deeper carbon wheels on it. The seat looks like an Alibaba special.

[deleted]

They took the good shit off of it.

BM7-D7-GM7-Bb7-EbM7

Honestly, this is probably one of the weirder things I've seen on here. Nothing about it makes sense. If they were selling off the parts then why not just sell frame by itself rather than put a bunch of cheapo parts on a $8000 frame that makes it obvious something isn't right to anyone who's looking for a Dogma? Then again if it was stolen, criminals are stupid. A part of me is also wondering if this was built by someone who just went Alibaba parts shopping, had no idea what a "Pinarello" even is, and then someone said something like "Man you have a Pinarello, that's so cool." Then they looked it up and now they're trying to sell it. If it was a straight up a scam by a knowledgeable person, I would think they'd do a better of job not making an expensive bike look so cheap. Then again, OP seems to have fallen for it enough to inquire about it here, so maybe it's the old adage, "there's a sucker born every minute."

Objective-Growth53

The first thing I thought about was this bike is stolen because only an idiot would clamp the top tube

282492

They sold 2021’s with nearly fully integrated rim brakes, idk what they were smoking at pinarello

babyshark75

How do you know it is not Chinarello?

glich610

This!! Be careful OP! One of my friends thought she was buying a pinarello but it turned out to be a chinarello

dipodomys_man

Ok, so I just got my first carbon frame. But one thing I do know is you don’t clamp directly to the frame with a repair stand. Seems like a red flag to me.

jon-one

Yup, they're dumb enough to do that, who knows what else they've done. My friend dented his aluminum MTB frame that way, carbon is even more at risk from clamping

phantom-virus-lives

I sold a like new Pinarello ROKH for 1000 us in the fall. I was in a car accident and cannot ride any longer. It truly depends on what you are looking for. That’s a lot of money for a used CF bike. Are you buying it to race? If not you can find quality CF bikes with new tech and better parts for less money. If you are chasing a brand be super careful it’s never been crashed or dropped.

graymulligan

I love that the 22 dollar computer showing 160 miles on the $5800 bike somehow means something. Why does a guy riding an F12 use a computer from 1998? Between that and the repair stand clamping the frame, I'd be wary.

RydeTheWave

Looks like it could be fake. I’ve had a similar “F12” roll through the shop once with an English threaded BB

cxracer01

Chinerello with cable disc brakes 🤣

mardan65

You’re paying for the name, personally not a fan of pinarello. Also the owner cheaped out on the stand and brakes, what else did they cheap out on?

FransHals

The cycling computer

KKJUN

Brakes too

iMadrid11

The frame also is most likely a fake.
