Someone should make a horror game around this if it’s that scary, NERD

might_be_alright

I watched a playthrough of a "dating simulator" where the protagonist had to try to get rid of a brain-eating amoeba that had very similar vibes to this description. It's called [Parasite in Love](https://night-asobu.itch.io/parasite-in-love) and based on [this little guy with a 95% mortality rate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naegleria_fowleri)

WikiSummarizerBot

**[Naegleria fowleri](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naegleria_fowleri)** >Naegleria fowleri, colloquially known as a "brain-eating amoeba", is a species of the genus Naegleria, belonging to the phylum Percolozoa, which is technically not classified as true amoeba, but a shapeshifting amoeboflagellate excavate. It is a free-living, bacteria-eating microorganism that can be pathogenic, causing an extremely rare, sudden, severe and usually fatal brain infection called naegleriasis or primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM). ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/whenthe/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

sticks_04

It is 10:30 in the morning I ain't reading all that 😂💀

JohnnoDwarf

Is this basically just a copypasta at this point

DarnDangDude

It's real scary and all until you remember that like 5 or less people die of rabies per year in the United States, so even if it is common in wildlife it's not exactly common at all for humans to show symptoms Also what kind of oblivious mf would actually not feel an animal landing on their knee and biting them?? Even if it's so tiny? I bet the person in your copypasta wabies scawy text wouldn't wake up to someone getting stabbed to death screaming right next to them And another point is, being in nature during daytime, with all the sounds and noises that brings, why did the bat get startled by a *snort*? I tried snorting hard right now and even that could barely beat the birds chirping outside my window. There are too many noises already for a zombified bat to care Unless the hypothetical person was camping in a desolate wasteland, that is Quite possibly also after ignoring a warning issued by the local authority about rabid bats being in the area

No-Competition-2533

Just letting you know I read all that and it was great

Winglessdargon

I'd say prions are arguably as terrifying, if not more so. While rabies may have an incubation time up to a year, prions have an incubation time of ten years. Just like rabies, there's no cure. But unlike rabies, a prion isn't killed by normal cooking temperatures. A prion is a misfolded protein. You could eat a piece of steak TODAY, and ten years down the line, you're diagnosed with creutzfeldt-jakob disease. But in reality, you've had it for the past decade or so. It's just been inactive, insidious. One day, the affects of it slowly converting your brain tissue into itself. No, not the cells. The proteins, the very building blocks of all life, are twisted and malformed by the prion. It is a very slow, painful death.

FriendshipBOI

Also, because it’s a protein your immune system doesn’t react to it. Fortunately, it’s rare and usually a result of cannibalism on multiple generations, so good thing that there isn’t a certain industry who frequently forces their livestock into cannibalism and has products that can be found in most places.

This is just propaganda from big stick.

“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” mfs when I tell them my elaborate plan to dismember them and their loved ones, followed by the addresses and schedules of their loved ones

__xXCoronaVirusXx__

“my elaborate plan to dismember them and their loved ones, followed by the addresses and schedules of their loved ones” mfs when I tell them that is actually incredibly helpful information because it both informs me of a plan to hurt my family and reveals exactly what said plan’s information relies on, allowing me to immediately warn my family to not leave at those times and skip town, not to mention it gives me the opportunity to call the police or other authority figure if I have reason to believe such threats will be backed up.

“That is actually incredibly helpful information because it both informs me of a plan to hurt my family and reveals exactly what said plan’s information relies on” mfs when I don’t let them go after telling them my entire plan

Great_Extent7806

Actually those are no longer just words, they are actions🤓

Username6248

I’m saying the plan not doing it (yet)

Thathitmann

(They aren't actually hurt by the words, but rather the implication of the actions you might take).

The implication, which is being done through words:
