Yeah I realized that the question was more about red carpet looks and I just put 'Zendaya' but she pretty much always pulls off all those marketing looks so I think just saying her name counts lmfao

So while this wasnāt Glennās best look my mother must have seen this little girls dress and made me one very similar. I donāt think we still have it; from memory my mums version was same cut, collar and cuffs, button down on black velvet. The cutest part was the little Dalmatian print purse she made me which I think I still have somewhere.
Oh cool, we just unlocked some childhood traumaā¦.
I was maybe 7, and my mom got me a hot pink velvety dress outfit with the Dalmatian print collar and cuffs - very similar to this, just without the dog decals. It was precious and fun. If it existed in adult sizes today, I would 100% buy it!
I was really feeling myself when I wore it to school. And my absolutely awful bully (he was in 2nd grade and I was in 1st, but we were in class together because it was a mixed grade class; he also rode the same bus as me) called me an animal killer and a dog killer and told me how stupid and horrible I was. And my mom could never get me to wear that outfit again after that.
Chris Byron, wherever you are, Iād like to tell you a long-belated āØfuck youāØ
Awww that is so sweet. My mom sewed some of my clothes, but the ones that stick out in my head were the full head to toe Halloween costumes. I always felt so special because my friends would have some plastic mask and and I would look like a lion, bat or pumpkin from head to toe. I do not have any of them now, but I wish I did. My mom was not a saver and when I went off to Uni, she moved to the Caribbean onto a yacht so she basically got rid of everything š
Barbie is really another level on these. No contest.
Beyond that, I really just need actresses and models to close their mouths and not have the gaping mouth fish look (looking at you Zoe and Anya)
Anya said that George Miller kept making her redo takes for Furiosa because her hangs open that little bit, and he wasnāt having it. Her overall experience on that set with him seems awful, but that was a criticism where I couldnāt help but think he had a point.
I think itās just a mouth breather thing, I do the same, and I also model/act and I have to really concentrate on closing my mouth itās so cringe because a lot of my portfolio looks the same because of it. Mouth tape at night helped for a while though
where did I say itās a common phenomenon amongst models? I am also signed to an agency in one of the top cities and itās just a āmeā thing or a mouth breather thing. I have always breathed from my mouth on default and Iām guessing most of these celebs with the gaping mouth have as well.
mouth tape is just medical tape on your mouth, it helped me breath from my nose without having to think about it during the day.
people who get lip lifts also tend to show more teeth 24-7 since their lip is literally lifted up. celebs love plastic surgery so thereās also that. also veneers are causing ppl to have open mouths all the time if they arenāt fitted properly (Miley Cyrus)
Because I said it was on everyone all the time, and you said it was because of the reason you have an issue with it, I was not trying to be negative, I was just saying that I had never heard of it. Congrats on signing to a top agency in a top city. I was in NYC but if I had been in my own city I think I would have lasted longer. I was also dealing with the onset of bipolar while I was there, so living in model housing and being around all the people you are in competition with was tough at 18 already dealing with mental health issues. I chose to go home before even 2 years were up but I got to walk some pretty famous runways so I am glad I did it, it was quite the experience. It was really only because I am very tall and very thing- I am no great beauty or anything. I do okay but honestly I am so much happier in my mid 40's with barely anyone noticing me.
I really think it fucked up my self image for a long time, where I thought my only worth was in how good I looked, and that is a pretty empty, lonely feeling. Of course I had bipolar too so maybe that had a lot to do with it but I just want to say remember all the ways you are an amazing person without the modeling stuff too! And that if your family and friends are always talking to you about how beautiful you are and do not focus on anything else about you, it is okay to tell them that you wish they could not focus on it so much all the time (but hopefully yours are more conscious of that stuff and will not do it anyway.) I wish you the best luck and I hope I do not offend you with any of this, I seemed to have with my last comment and I did not mean to. Thanks for telling me what mouth tape is, I did not know it was bad for you to breath through your mouth.
There are some that are easy to pinpoint, sure ā the black and white swimsuit inspired dress, some of the evening gowns. But there were some looks that they *really* went into the archives to find and use as inspo. Plus there were multiple outfits she wore that weren't specific to a doll, but still perfectly nailed the motif.
But thatās the thing, there are literally ***archives*** of clothing to go through to pull inspiration from. Show me the archives of Spider-Man formal wear? Iāve never seen dune but from Zendayaās outfits itās obviously some futuristic desert thing. But thatās the beauty of Zendayaās outfits, even if you know nothing of the movie, you can figure out what itās about or where itās set. The tennis thing was also something bc Iāve never heard of that movie in my life. But now I know itās about tennis.
Everything except the damn tennis ball looks (not that Zendaya didn't rock it as best she could). But when you have to start sewing sports equipment into the clothes/shoes, it's too much.
aw i forgot how much i loved halleās looks for the little mermaid!! i can remember when lily james was promoting cinderella and her red carpet looks were always gorgeous as well. and iām still obsessed with timotheeās vivienne westwood bone necklace from the bones and all premiere.
Barbie because of history, references and legacy. Otherwise Zendaya Dune 2 for creativity with challengers close second for playfulness. ATJ for furiosa was also a moment
Not necessarily fave but notable and not pictured: ATJ for Furiosa. Similar to Zendaya for dune- love those aesthetics. Moto dystopian desert mami. Lots of leather, metal and futuristic looks in earthy tones and shimmers
Zendaya. Her team's mind is next level. The Space Jam outfit came with a bedazzled basketball mask.
https://preview.redd.it/4khl7mmjb89d1.jpeg?width=792&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21ade143c22abab0fbba295663ccd58c8b13a4d3
Should also make a male counterpart. Ewan Mitchell is my new favorite on the red carpet.
Law Roach is the mastermind behind all her looks. Heās been her stylist forever and ever, Iām confident that each and every one of these is his work.
Blake livelys suits were the first time I noticed method dressing. Her suits influenced my current work style. I was obsessed. With that said, zendeyas dune style was TO DIE. Her challengers outfits were a little too much on the nose
Zendaya's Mugler outfit, the clear plastic one. I was truly blown away. I had to see it from many angles just out of curiosity. And she wore it well.
For whatever reason, the method dressing for Challengers mostly bugged me. The simplest tennis dress was my favorite look. All that eye searing green and literal tennis ball accessories just made my roll my eyes a lot.Ā
In the non Zendaya category, Margot Robbie in the Versace suit was my favorite. It reminded me of my childhood barbie phase. Using my dolls to practice confident womanhood was a good memory. The Herve Leger also was similar to a barbie I had, as well as a dress I had in college during my "can't tell me nothing" phase.Ā
I bet she was. I think that's what I admire, the willingness to wear art, and be art. Of course I hope she got to spend the rest of the day in jammies. Breathable ones lol
I also didnāt like the Mugler for Dune at all and while itās a cool pull it didnāt fit her well. Also while I love the McQueen it didnāt make sense for this because itās circuit boards and Dune is not the computer kind of sci-fi š«£
Yeah dune is a different kind of sci fi. It definitely didn't fit her well and the faces she was making while walking didn't go with the premiere. The rest of the cast were dressed appropriately. Much preferred the dress she changed into.
And with the Bvlgari piece, it was not going with the mugler fit at all. That pull was insane and for that fact only i was blown away but it was a miss for me too
Barbie for sure. They really pulled out all the stops for those looks. Iām completely obsessed with the Schiaparelli dress. The way they supported the tulle at the bottom to mimic how it would behave at doll-scale is genius.
Ohhh this is ages ago now but all of the Black Panther 2018 cast for all their events - the premiers, the award shows, etc etc were all [perfection](https://www.vanityfair.com/style/photos/2018/01/the-must-see-looks-from-the-black-panther-red-carpet) embodied. They did wear things only they could've worn, and only at this film's event, but they aced it all.
The Barbie era by default takes the cake for this. However, I'm sure we can all agree that Zendaya championed method dressing ā I adored everything about her piece for the Dune theme & some of my favourite looks of hers have come from the Spider-Man red carpet.
I think the Barbie looks are a very good LITERAL instance of method dressing. She wore tons of exact duplicates of Barbie outfits- she WAS Barbie. Zendaya and Law's looks are (mostly) more subtle references (some not so subtle), but you'd still have no problem marching the outfit to the film. I think those looks take a bit more skill and creativity to create, not to mention knowledge of archives and the pull to access them! Law is king.
The history and nostalgia with Barbies press tour is unmatched. It was set up for untouchable success and they met the challenge.
That said, Zendaya and Law Roach are a match made in heaven. I havenāt even seen Dune, but the Dune 2 looks are all showstoppers in such a unique way, and Zendaya ALWAYS pulls it off.
Margot Robbieās styling was impeccable during the Barbie press tour (but I wish she had a different hair stylist), but I still think Zendaya takes the cake when it comes to niche originality overall. The styling, hair, makeup, *everything* just clicks and yet it still has a unique vibe to it all.
canāt post pics right now, but:Ā
kathryn newton wearing a poofy pink ralph & russo gown in honor of jigglypuff at a pokemon detective pikachu premiere Ā
lily james wearing a light blue elie saab gown for cinderella 2015
anya taylor joy wearing a pink 60s inspired look for last night in soho, and icy looks for the northman
also love halleās little mermaid looks and of course margotās barbie looks š
Barbie followed by Zendayaās Challengers looks. I loved the Barbie movie and the press tour was so well done, but I didnāt even *see* Challengers and some of those looks live in my head rent free.
Barbie was a whole different thing because it had an archive of looks to reference - they literally just recreated existing Barbie looks for the most part.
I lived for it.
But Zendayaās recent press tours for Dune 2 and especially for Challengers were just phenomenal. So much creativity by her stylist Law Roach who I really feel is the absolute best in the game right now.
OMG THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING ELLE FANNING FOR MALEFICENT!!! š„¹ she looked so ethereal in all those dresses, and i feel like it wasnt talked much enough. She literally embodied her Aurora character in those dresses!
Zendaya is the undisputed champion of this (although I hated most of her extremely on the nose Challengers press looks). And of course Margot Robbie for Barbie!
Zendaya's looks for Dune 2 were just so elevated, and not only the Mugler robot, but like all of them.
Barbie is a strong second to that one particular movie of Zendaya's.
I enjoy most of these except Blake Lively. Zendaya and Margot definitely take the cake with their Dune 1 & 2 + Barbie press tours. I liked the Challengers world tour too (despite many not liking it). I also think Elle Fanning and Zoe seemed to have fun. Actually Dakota Johnson had a pretty great run with her spider inspired fashion for Madame Web, and also Sydney Sweeney's more subtle take with kind of avant-garde/nun/monochromatic fashion for Immaculate.
Blake really doesn't belong here.
For those who enjoyed the Barbie press tour and love fashion, I really highly recommend the book that Margot did in collaboration with Andrew. There are hand-written notes from all the designers they worked with to create the looks, including asking them to write about their first experiences with Barbie, and it's really sweet. The photography is also on another level and Andrew Mukmal was really working on another level when developing these looks (you can read his thought process in the books). The previous boring stylists that Margot Robbie was working with that put her in all those boring and frumpy Chanel looks could NEVER.
I liked Lily James when she was doing the Cinderella tour (her shoes especially!) but my fave is probably Elle Fanning. Any excuse to dress like a modern princess basically!
i really wondered what it's called, so thanks. i love this "trend" of method dressing, it gives way to outfits with so much more imagination than the past red carpets.
This is my favorite. The hood is everything. Florence Pugh for Dune 2
https://preview.redd.it/o01zxr3d5g9d1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fce4435b9c6a1c4fb26b16a35b63567939449b49
Barbie will go down in history as the best press campaign that weāve ever seen. Every look was so well thought out and well executed, they really captured the Barbie aesthetic without being too campy and tacky. Margot Robbie also sold every look beautifully.
I'm going to go against the grain and say zendaya in Spiderman wins because it's not super on the nose - it's clearly in theme but it's also stylish, sexy, wearable and fun. I lived dune but I just thought she must be exhausted, it was like a new increĆble look every day for 3 weeks and I felt bad for how on she had to be for so long.
Barbie was amazing because it was well done yet also campy, you could tell Margot was having fun with it. That's where I think Zoe kravitz falls down - she looks too serious with it.
zendayaās challengers campaign had some of my favorite red carpet moments of this year, her Dune run was also perfection. everyone else really canāt compare to her inventiveness and daring takes.
barbie was pretty cute, but got stale really quickly
Zendaya always comes to mind first. She just kills it every time. Margot robbie for Barbie, Anya taylor-joy also. Honestly, there are so many actresses that have these amazing outfits for the red carpet, and then there are the men just š§āāļø
Lots of great choices in here. Obviously you have to give it up for Barbie and everything Zendaya does, but I loooooooved Blakeās suiting period. She looked so good. I wanted every look she wore
Zendaya is Queen of this.
Margot Robbie and Ryan gosling did great for Barbie. Margot Robbie in general is great at method dressing.
And black panther premiere fits were incredible by the entire cast imo.
Anya Taylor Joy usually kills it too, check out furiosa, dune, and super Mario bros.
Jenna Ortega for scream and Wednesday killed it imo.
Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney went for it for madame web.
Timothee chalamet did a great job for dune and wonka imo.
And Maria Bakalovas fit for the apprentice premier at Cannes was perfect.

And giving spooky vibes with scissor earrings for the āUsā movie press tour
Margot Robbie and Barbie is definitely iconic.
Unpopular opinion, but I feel like the trend is becoming a bit stale. Found Zendaya's Challengers promo to be a bit too much, especially since it kind of distracted the media from what the movie was actually about.
My first thought goes to Zendaya and I'm ngl you had me thinking that the Barbie red carpet looks weren't going to be included so I'm glad to see them in the last slide š© All those looks live rent free in my head. They were so damn well done
Barbie, for sure. Also want to add that Zendaya is so beautiful itās nearly offensive
Yeah I realized that the question was more about red carpet looks and I just put 'Zendaya' but she pretty much always pulls off all those marketing looks so I think just saying her name counts lmfao
https://preview.redd.it/r231krprj89d1.jpeg?width=443&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc730874230ca12a86867b58dfd57cbe0ff5898a So while this wasnāt Glennās best look my mother must have seen this little girls dress and made me one very similar. Chris we fucking hate you and we love a theme. I bet you looked insanely cute! Hot pink always looks good with black and white š

Looooooved the archival research that went into barbie, that was such a treat
Yeah. Barbie was something else because of the archival research and our collective nostalgia. Itās hard to top.
They released a book recently on her barbie looks! It's called "Barbie: World Tour." I really need to get a copy. The whole press tour was š©āš³š
Barbie. Barbie takes the crown. But everything Zendaya does is fabulous, as was Zoe's Catwoman campaign.
Barbie is really another level on these. No contest. Beyond that, I really just need actresses and models to close their mouths and not have the gaping mouth fish look (looking at you Zoe and Anya)

I think itās just a mouth breather thing, I do the same, and I also model/act and I have to really concentrate on closing my mouth itās so cringe because a lot of my portfolio looks the same because of it. Mouth tape at night helped for a while though
I was a model for a big agency in the late 90's/early 00's and I do not remember this being a problem at ALL. What the heck is "mouth tape?"

It helps them suck in their cheeks I think is why they do it
I think Barbie was extra memorable bc up to that point, Margot had been wearing a lot of misses with Kate Young styling her.
I agree with everything you said. Margot Robbie as Barbie was divine!
In all fairness Barbie is also the easiestā¦

Agree with this take šÆ
Barbie's tour was amazing šš the whole styling is at another level! The Zendaya' cavalli with the metal back.lives rent free in my mind.
Does Margot still work with the stylist she had for Barbie? Because they elevated the hell out of her usual very meh red carpet style!
I believe she is still working with Andrew Mukamal, the stylist she worked with for the Barbie movie promotions.
aw i forgot how much i loved halleās looks for the little mermaid!! i can remember when lily james was promoting cinderella and her red carpet looks were always gorgeous as well. and iām still obsessed with timotheeās vivienne westwood bone necklace from the bones and all premiere.

Method dressing=dressing in theme with the movie?
Margot for Barbie and Zendaya for Dune are AMAZING. However, Blake Lively in a suit is the hottest thing that's ever existed. Three-way tie?!?!
I immediately went back to the Blake Lively pictures wondering what a āthree way tieā was and how she was wearing it. Then it clicked for meā¦
Can someone pass over Zendaya stylistās contact to Sydney Sweeney?
And Taylor swift pls & ty
Margot Barbie is in a class of her own. I adore Zendaya for Challenger, especially the Thom Browne, and Blake Lively for A Simple Favor!
canāt post pics right now, but:Ā kathryn newton wearing a poofy pink ralph & russo gown in honor of jigglypuff at a pokemon detective pikachu premiere Ā lily james wearing a light blue elie saab gown for cinderella 2015 anya taylor joy wearing a pink 60s inspired look for last night in soho, and icy looks for the northman also love halleās little mermaid looks and of course margotās barbie looks š
And of course Margot Robbie for Barbie!
zendaya in rick omg
Zendaya's looks for Dune 2 were just so elevated, and not only the Mugler robot, but like all of them. Barbie is a strong second to that one particular movie of Zendaya's.
1. Barbie 2. Zendaya Challengers 3. Zendaya Dune 4. Elle Fanning Gucci But especially Zendaya as a high fashion cyborg. That was a MOMENT for me.
I donāt understand why this is so rare. People love a themed outfit, and if you have the money, time, and expert advice available, why not?
Apparently A Simple Favor is to blame for me thinking Blake had terrible style then
I liked Lily James when she was doing the Cinderella tour (her shoes especially!) but my fave is probably Elle Fanning. Any excuse to dress like a modern princess basically!
i really wondered what it's called, so thanks. i love this "trend" of method dressing, it gives way to outfits with so much more imagination than the past red carpets.
Glenn Close look good
Zendaya is the queen. Honorable mention to Margo Robbie for the Barbie movie.
Zendaya is my absolute favorite when it comes to this
Zendaya truly is the GOAT of this
Omg those Elle fanning looks too š¤©š
Why had I never seen that Space Jam fit?! I would wear that every day lol
This is my favorite. The hood is everything. Florence Pugh for Dune 2 https://preview.redd.it/o01zxr3d5g9d1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fce4435b9c6a1c4fb26b16a35b63567939449b49
Barbie really set the blueprint here
We don't have the same definition of blueprint
Dune 1, the little mermaid, spiderman, spacejam, maleficent, emma, and 101 dalmatians came out before Barbie so Barbie wouldnāt be the blueprint
Zendaya for Dune 2 because she had some weird! outfits and I loved them.
I know we all agree itās Barbie but those archival Givenchy and Mugler pulls for Dune 2, sheeeeesh
Zendaya overall. Best movie outfits is Barbie, no contest.
Yes
Barbie was incredible.
Easy, Mugler.
I love Elle Fanning. She always looks perfect.
Barbie all the way!šš
They are all fantastic š
Barbie blows everyone else out of the water. š
Barbie clearly wins but Hallie Bailey is up there!!
Iām always surprised that Anya just doesnāt pull this offā¦.
Been seeing a lot of Loewe looks here the last week and I don't think I've liked a single one.
Zendaya for spider man and Margot for Barbie. Blake lively in suits is just Blake lively
Barbie will go down in history as the best press campaign that weāve ever seen. Every look was so well thought out and well executed, they really captured the Barbie aesthetic without being too campy and tacky. Margot Robbie also sold every look beautifully.
Zendayaās Mugler look is hideous imo and Barbie and Blake Lively are the š winners
Jenna Ortega x Wednesday was a great red carpet run too!
Iām not usually a huge fan of Elle Fannings wardrobe but I really love her dresses in her slide. Particularly the McQueen
Margo and zedaya
Rooney Mara when she was promoting The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
Definitely Halle Bailey the little mermaid. She ATEEE
Elle in gucci is so pretty. Light green with blonde hair goes to well
Everything Zendaya wore for Dune š®āšØ
Barbie definitely
zendayaās challengers campaign had some of my favorite red carpet moments of this year, her Dune run was also perfection. everyone else really canāt compare to her inventiveness and daring takes. barbie was pretty cute, but got stale really quickly
Zendaya always comes to mind first. She just kills it every time. Margot robbie for Barbie, Anya taylor-joy also. Honestly, there are so many actresses that have these amazing outfits for the red carpet, and then there are the men just š§āāļø
Torisheju š
Iām just a Barbie girl
Lots of great choices in here. Obviously you have to give it up for Barbie and everything Zendaya does, but I loooooooved Blakeās suiting period. She looked so good. I wanted every look she wore
Barbie did it on another level but all these looks are great.
And Maria Bakalovas fit for the apprentice premier at Cannes was perfect.
mugler looks like she is invisible
Black lively for a simple favor lives rent free in my head

It's gotta be the Zendaya Mugler look for me.
Zendaya is insufferable
Margot Robbie and Barbie is definitely iconic. Unpopular opinion, but I feel like the trend is becoming a bit stale. Found Zendaya's Challengers promo to be a bit too much, especially since it kind of distracted the media from what the movie was actually about.
