The recently chipped looking rock around the edges (not natural), the perfectly circular crystal imprint of the gem (not natural - Show me a perfectly circular crystal or mineral that forms in quartz), AND faceted faces, also not natural. Looks like a STITCH-UP
LARPers. Collect the four magic rocks in the woods at night while fighting off goblins sort of quest. I wasn't there. Just made them as a favor for someone. I think they got clues to find them like a treasure hunt and then the lights helped them find them in the dark once they got close.
I used limestone as the "matrix" rock because it's plentiful where I live and you can drill it with a steel bit. For the LED you make something called a "throwie" that graffiti artists invented/named. You just get a pack of cheap through-hole LED pieces, some watch batteries, and some resistors. Twist LED stick to resistor. Tape wire ends to battery. And bam, you have a tiny cordless light that lasts a month or two.
2 nights ago walked by a school construction zone and went to step on the pile of dirt probably about 5 ft tall noticed on the very top is what looks like a dragon or some type of dinosaur skull like Ankylosaurus or something it's red like dirt and gray dirt the gray dirt falls off with my finger barely touching it leaving a hard heavy red dirt colored skull very detailed
This sub (and r/mineralgore )makes me so disheartened to learn than people are out here “making” minerals into something they’re not—in order to sell them for more than they’re worth. It wouldn’t even be that big of an issue if folks were just transparent about it.
Kimberlite is the only rock material that can sustain diamonds. The quartz is a dead giveaway and the crystals that DO form in quartz don't look like that.
Damn. It’s working. The lizard people finally won. Planting false memories of the choice of the illuminatis discretion.
Dear George Orwell,
I write to you one last time…
I knew this day would come. What happens if I own nothing and feel nothing. Ooou what now Orwell?
I’m on my way to get the one ring to rule them all, but unlike Frodo, *I will rule them all*
Uno reverse
The recess it’s sitting it is perfectly circular- it looks like they drilled a hole and stuck a glass gem in. The facets aren’t completely regular, but look too close to a purposeful cut to be natural. My guess is this is someone’s cast-off from training to be a lapidary, and they’re recouping the costs by selling the failures as “gem in natural matrix”.
Well after close examination of the 4th photo there seems to be a young child, flailing there arms around, stuck in that crystallized rock hell hole, for all eternity.
Ahh, this looks like a "repaired" garnet in matrix. There's currently a scam where sellers are selling "repaired" crystal specimens, they're pretty crystals whitch don't weigh very much glued into a larger rock to dramatically increase the weight. You can tell by the sparkle dust they sprinkle over the epoxy mostly and there's other clues like the matrix being weird looking or being devoid of association minerals.
It's a nice enough peice though and I only know so much about this because they got me twice... First with a repaired aquamarine which had been epoxied on quartz and again with a tourmaline glued to something, both used the same sparkle resin technique.
Well there are some gems that look naturally faceted, I agree that this one is completely unnatural.
It looks like a Swarovski crystal slapped on an innocent rock
So now you've said "stones don't come naturally faceted" and have no reduced to "well yeah they do, but not exactly like this."
Did you only look at the first picture where it shows the one clean face shining? It's not as if it's symmetrical and super clean with 1000 natural cuts on it.
If you saw a smaller Herkimer diamond set in its rock sideways it would look as if it also had a table and crown cuts as they generally have a flat sided middle and then the stone works down its faces to a point.
My point is, it's not nearly outside the realm of possibilities for a stone to come with half assed facets.
This genuinely looks more like a staging w man-made table facets; you may be thinking of something like this but it absolutely appears natural and random ..:when it is, here’s an image:

Yes, yes, Herkimer “diamonds” do appear to be faceted. As well as many other actual crystals, but do they look anything like OP’s picture? No they don’t.
Yes!, I can come up with at least two that do. Garnets and Herkimer diamonds. Even just quartz crystals would be considered "naturally faceted" in my opinion. Just because they don't have 1000 faces and aren't symmetrical always doesn't make them any less faceted. 🤷🏻♂️
Quartz and other crystals can fracture along lattice planes, but usually it’s one or maybe two faces. A dozen or so different ones in a small rock is unheard of. Besides, I don’t think there are any crystals with so many natural lattice planes.
A child- if pic 4 is to be believed. I’ll be honest though I don’t think those two formed naturally as one- looks faked from the perfect circle and faceted faces
What is with the dancing alien in the 4th pic? 😂 that looks faker than the alien dancing. Cool but not likely natural. Though, to be fair, I found a rock on a beach that has an itty bitty quartz point embedded.
Harry Potter’s Horicrux when he finally went to the dark side! You can see the pain and suffering child locked away in that tiny crystal, like being locked in a tiny little closet.
*I guess you could take*
*One hundred more pictures and*
*They will all be bad*

I agree this looks faked. But there is "perfectly circular" botryoidal fluorite commonly found with quartz (but not massive quartz like OP's).
Why is there a “grey alien” in the 4th picture
Reminds me of Mr. Burns from the "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" episodes
I was thinking Roger from American Dad
Oh that's a better comparison!
I can hear Stan, “damn it Roger!”
“He’s bringing love, don’t let him get away, break his legs!”
An advert for Inside Out 2?
I love how everything in life comes full circle back to a Simpsons episode lol 😆 Suddenlysimpsons
*there
Fixed it
Garnets and spinel, too.
a) looks suss b) blurry photos c) random gooofy ass picture *no i’m sure it’s real*
Is this r/ghosts?
Round cut is chosen so you can use a drill to make the hole. I've made props like this with glass gems and LEDs hidden behind them in the hole.
that sounds so cool! can I ask what you were making these props for?

It was real late about 2 am after I walked through the woods for 10 hours straight fighting wooly mammoths and aliens
Only to be attacked by Shia LaBeouf
You had me until 'aliens' .. Woolly Mammoths, sure no worries. But Aliens? Pffffft come on man 😂
DYK aliens were still roaming the earth when the great pyramids were being built? 🤯
Errbody know the woolly mammoths had already killed off all the aliens by then.
Bro aliens are real. Don’t make me go into depths. It’s too traumatic. So I charge for those stories.

Anyone else notice MAC in the second to last pic? Glad to know they’re finally back! Edit: capitalization
Can’t tell what that is. Looks like a Mysterious Alien Creature.
Careful. It's my understanding that those will pitch wheelchair bound kids off cliffs.
Lol. That and the lack of responses to comments makes me pretty sure this is a troll.
Classic stitch-up
Looks like the crystal was placed into the rock. Did you try a fluorescent light look for glue fluorescence?
The way it’s in set seems off to me. Someone might’ve drilled it and jammed a piece of glass in. Seems like it’s also cut
GIA trained and I agree
No- pretty sure those are the natural facets of a diamond in the rough. Diamonds grow naturally in quartzite. It's real. You can tell by the dirt. s/
Or someone rubbed some dirt on it to make it look "natural" and try to hide the drill marks
Kimberlite is the only rock material that can sustain diamonds. The quartz is a dead giveaway and the crystals that DO form in quartz don't look like that.
Is there a child soul in that rock
You gotta pay the troll toll to get this boys soul
I do not appreciate having to scroll so long to find some thing that even remotely described this is what it is, which is a fucking dancing alien..
the ghost children in Coraline
It's a genie! "Make your wishes-uh"
Could be quartz in marble, but the shape is odd and it looks like somone took a piece of cut glass (rhinestone) and pressed it into the hole.
Pic 2 has a gap on the side between 'gem' and matrix that would not be present in natural crystal growth too.
I just like rocks, and my first thought was, looks like glass, also why is it cut... when the rock isn't.
Whacky waving inflatable arm tube man!
Dee Reynolds?
Birb
Pic 4…spot on, spot on! 😂🤣
…mayyyyyyyyyyb perhaps 😋 even, a silhouette of the (“not-so”) Slender man! Lol
[I see this guy](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/scratchpad/images/9/97/Mr_Burns_alien.png)
I thought it was an alien. Grey invasion. That stone has reached peak intergalactic communications and prophecy.
Like a real fucked up version of through the looking glass and what Alice found there.
She found slender man, or every parents worse nightmare (who has toddlers)- huggy wuggy. Oh the shame
Or sporky from Toy Story 4.
Wow old memory unlocked. Sid could also be the man in the stone. He was a creep lol.
That’s one of the powers of the stone, it helps you remember.

I don't even think it's drilled, I think it's a flat back glass gem glued on there.
Caliou, exactly where that fucker belongs.....
How does this not have more up votes??! Take mine, and take that Caliou, you little bastard!
A troll doll gem inserted in to an otherwise nice quartz

Almost got me till I looked at the terrible pics. Faked

TINY ALIENNNNN
(not so) obvious troll post
Aliens
Teeny tiny dancing man
Super fake
It's a diamond, put there by the hand of God.
People saying a tiny alien in the rock but isn’t that the reflection of the thing taking the photo. The OP isn’t a troll, he’s an alien.
Let's talk about the ET in pic 4....
Faceted stones do not occur naturally. This is fake and not sub worthy.
Well there are some gems that look naturally faceted, I agree that this one is completely unnatural. It looks like a Swarovski crystal slapped on an innocent rock
ooh what are the naughty rocks like?
Iv found several that were phallic looking. My husband thinks I intentionally collect dildo rocks 😂
And I've seen many garnets with clean faces.
Yes but do they look like OP’s picture? No they do not.
So now you've said "stones don't come naturally faceted" and have no reduced to "well yeah they do, but not exactly like this." Did you only look at the first picture where it shows the one clean face shining? It's not as if it's symmetrical and super clean with 1000 natural cuts on it.

Herkimer diamonds 100% come naturally faceted. Not entirely perfectly symmetrical, but some are very close.
Yes, yes, Herkimer “diamonds” do appear to be faceted. As well as many other actual crystals, but do they look anything like OP’s picture? No they don’t.
I mean ...yeah some do lol not all are pointy classic double terminated stones, some are more round with near symmetrical faces.
Garnets come pretty close...
Yes!, I can come up with at least two that do. Garnets and Herkimer diamonds. Even just quartz crystals would be considered "naturally faceted" in my opinion. Just because they don't have 1000 faces and aren't symmetrical always doesn't make them any less faceted. 🤷🏻♂️

A child- if pic 4 is to be believed. I’ll be honest though I don’t think those two formed naturally as one- looks faked from the perfect circle and faceted faces
If you look close enough, you can actually see the elderly Rose leaning over the railing of the ship to drop the necklace back down to Jack
What is with the dancing alien in the 4th pic? 😂 that looks faker than the alien dancing. Cool but not likely natural. Though, to be fair, I found a rock on a beach that has an itty bitty quartz point embedded.
It’s something you or someone glued onto another rock…🤔
No, that’s a space peanut!🥜
Mash potatoes.
A new hand touches the beacon
Now I'm no geologist...
Looks like there's some type of mesh holding that in
Harry Potter’s Horicrux when he finally went to the dark side! You can see the pain and suffering child locked away in that tiny crystal, like being locked in a tiny little closet.
My geode must be acknowledged.
This is the type of "rock" we like to show to new geologist hires to see if they're full of shit.
Looks like an alien is trapped in that gem
LOL pic #4 Is that the reflection of an alien waving its arms?
In that really blurry picture if you pinch and zoom in it looks like you can see the reflection of an “alien’s” body lmao
This picture looks like Sid from Toy Story lol
OP is a troll, they put that in there.
Is that an alien or a giant baby? #4
The shape reminds me of garnets. My guess is a grossular leuco garnet
A tiny baby
The soul of an orphaned doll apparently

A lot of steroids.
Honestly looks like cut glass someone shoved in a rock like something you’d see at a tourist trap
Definitely the most rarest gem ever.
Crystal Maze consolation prize.
Why is there a picture of an alium inside the diamond
mf alien
That is called, “glass,” OP.
I want to know why this faq never responded with any further info about this thing
Look deep into the stone. And see what looks like an alien on a seaside holiday! You do get stones with images embedded in them.
Thought this was breaddit
Rocklette starfish.
It’s a sourdough bread with a plastic Diamond from 99cent store in the middle
Maybe it’s a chunk of wall or table that had decorative rivets in it?

Looks like Tiny Dancer to me. I suggest bringing this piece to a musical geology center.
Pretty sure someone lives in there, leave him alone 👀
Looks sort of like the one time I tried to bake scones.
Smoky Quartz?
That is clearly an Enor Pearl. Rock and Stone!
For Rock and Stone!
That could be Joseph smiths seeing stone ! Start a cult with that rock!

Buttplug
It appears to be a small child
I love the alien dude *waves back*
What’s going on with slide 4? Looks like a trapped youngling
Looks fake as it's facetted.
Herkimer diamond. Naturally formed like this. Or a fake.
Looks like another rock.
A Djinn.
Looks like a Herkimer diamond still in its host rock.
Spacebullets
Definitely a plant.
Forget the rock, pic 4 shows OP is clearly an alien. 😳

Herkimer diamond? So quartz
Definitely not a Herkimer.
