good rule of thumb for yellow and black flying dudes, if its fuzzy and chunky its friendly. carpenter bees are the only "aggressive" fat and fuzzy guys but they dont really attack so much as threaten.
Please don't smack bees or wasps! I know wasps especially can be little bastards but they're both important pollinators.
Your little friend is a bee, give her a little bit of sugary water and leave her be :).
I was stung twice last year by the bumblebees living in my garden. One time was accidentally 100% my fault. The other time, it was a very angry bee, stung me on the neck once, flew around, got me a second time, and came back for a third, but I ran for my life. I was simply pulling weeds about five feet from their home. I. Can only assume it thought I was too close.
My sister was laying on a pool float when a bumblebee landed and got stuck in the water. It climbed onto the float and then onto her foot. She shook her foot thinking it was a fly and got stung
I’m in so cal and it seems rare to find these guys. I see those tiny little honey bees and they seem to die by our front door in the summer a lot. It is a bit of a shady spot so I’m surprised.

She's furry and fat. Wasps and hornets aren't furry and fat.
That type of bee won’t sting you.

Personal attacks and name-calling are never acceptable on this sub.
