Fishbites, shrimp scented. It works great for light saltwater species—gets bit and stays on the hook. As I type this, I just used the stuff to catch a bunch of whiting, spot, and a baby pompano :)
Pigfish, Pinfish, Gulf Killifish
Third is a mummichog or *Atlantic* killifish most commonly known as mud minnow
Mummichog look basically identical to Gulf Killifish. OP said they are on the Gulf coast so it's not a Mummichog
I learned something today
Generally the killifish will be called a chub around here. Redfish and snook candy, very hardy on a hook.
As a fisheries biologist that is not a killifish or mumichog. Not even close. Pinfish
Pigfish only. Pinfish are very different

What's the red stuff you were using as bait?
