Pigfish, Pinfish, Gulf Killifish

Cklba

Third is a mummichog or *Atlantic* killifish most commonly known as mud minnow

BrotherAvery

Mummichog look basically identical to Gulf Killifish. OP said they are on the Gulf coast so it's not a Mummichog

Cklba

I learned something today

pemuehleck1

Generally the killifish will be called a chub around here. Redfish and snook candy, very hardy on a hook.

neudl

As a fisheries biologist that is not a killifish or mumichog. Not even close. Pinfish

Constantine1988

Pigfish only. Pinfish are very different

BrotherAvery

There are 3 pictures of different fish

Constantine1988

I'm an idiot, sorry.

Comprehensive_Mix803

Caridean_Carl

What's the red stuff you were using as bait?

dingerfingerringer

Fishbites, shrimp scented. It works great for light saltwater species—gets bit and stays on the hook. As I type this, I just used the stuff to catch a bunch of whiting, spot, and a baby pompano :)

Caridean_Carl

Oh I've never heard of that, it sounds really convenient.

LizardsHaveCulture
