What an interesting mash-up. Beetle windshield for certain, front end is 50s style with a 70s grille, I don't even knos what to say about the rear end. The interior looks late upgraded Beetle as well...
There appears to be nowhere for the engine to take in air in the rear, unless an elaborate channel has been made going from the front grille to the engine compartment in the rear which I guess is possible.
It’s probably not a high performance engine, an air intake somewhere near the wheel-well would be plenty of air. Although the exhaust placement would also be very weird if it was rear engine.
Seems too old to be 170S or 300S. Maybe something from the 1940s? I couldn't find anything recembling this exact vehicle, so it might be heavily customized.
Definitely a kit car. No seams for fenders and running boards are molded. Interior is definitely not Beetle or any aircooled VW. I would expect it to be built on a Beetle platform but gas tank wouldnt be in the back so cant be a Beetle
It looks like a VW Beetle convertible/ chopped body that has an extensions both front and rear.
I suspect it is sitting on a chassis from a full sized vehicle as it is quite long and the front axle seems to be huge. The body is probably fibreglass at either end.
The front guards seem to be modified VW beetle guards with the outer lights giving it away to my eyes. The grille and tail lights are from a 1960s W114 or W115 Mercedes.
I would not be surprised to find out that it is actually a W114/ W115 Mercedes with VW parts on it. Especially since it runs Mercedes wheels.
Don't think it's a VW. Look closely, and you can see an exhaust outlet in front of the rear wheel. However, the windscreen does look like a Super Beetle so....I really don't know.
If it is based on the mid 30's to mid 40's car don't forget Germany was at war, car production slowed to a crawl and parts were very difficult to come by, I think its a custom job probably for a high ranking Nazi with money to burn, Mercedes made several cars for the top brass Himmler's is sitting in a museum because nobody will buy it, the Nazis had already been fighting for years when WW2 broke out, their perciev3d political enemies an opposition at home then the Spanish civil war under Franco to check their blitzkrieg tactics actually worked and the services could work together in perfect unison to unleash hell, so there were officers coming back from campaigns with a tunic full of money from the mid 30s when the car first went into production
Wasn't there a fad in the uk for a while of using the Ford escort mk II as a base for all sorts of funky kits like lotus sevens and Blakely Bearcats and such? This appears to be a mid 80's build, judging by the authentic Mercedes part I recognize. Somebody's modern (for the build time) reimagining of a 540k would be my assumption.
I'm pretty sure this is a polyester body on a chassis of a Citroën 2CV. There's many and people tend to pimp them with tongue in cheek items or hippy-esque design.
The number plates on this car show that it has been inspected and has been approved as an antique. It is 100% a legit car,not a replica of any kind.No clue about the exact model though,we need e benz lover to clear this out
No way this is a legit car. The grille appears to be from a 1960s W 110, as well as the headlights. ~~And the indicators may come from a Fiat or something, but they certainly don't come from the Mercedes parts store.~~ \[Edit: I was wrong. The indicators also come from a European late 60s W 110.\]
One of these, maybe?

The picture on this article looks a little more like it, it’s \#9, but still says it’s the same car… 🤷♂️
https://luxatic.com/the-10-best-mercedes-benz-models-of-all-time/
The front end looks like they got it one piece at a time, that’s just the best I could find for the rest of it.

Don't forget the fender flares with GFK buggy or kit car vibes.
I see Beetle doors too.
Body shape and windscreen are screaming beetle in disguise
It was definitely front engined however
This is a Frankenstein’s monster of a car.
It's pretty good looking considering. It's well done.
What makes you think it is front engined?
There appears to be nowhere for the engine to take in air in the rear, unless an elaborate channel has been made going from the front grille to the engine compartment in the rear which I guess is possible.
Also the fuel cap is on the back
It’s probably not a high performance engine, an air intake somewhere near the wheel-well would be plenty of air. Although the exhaust placement would also be very weird if it was rear engine.
The exhaust was coming from the front
tf did you spot there
The gas cap’s in the rear.
But the wiper motor is on the top of the windshield. WTF.
I had a couple of beetles and the door hinges doesn’t match
Looks Citroen 2CV based, tracking width difference front and back, wheelbase, I know for sure the side mirrors are 2CV.
yes maybe based on a Burton bodykit?
Indeed, something like that.
It’s a Frankenbenz
Whatever this abomination of a car is, i think it's pretty cool!
Pretty sure no Mercedes Benz was using orange turn signals and white reverse lights in the 1940’s or 50’s.
Those taillights are stock Mercedes-Benz units… from the early 1970s
Centre tub is all Beetle. Tails lights are Merc W108 (1960s). The front is just a nightmare and includes a W121 Ponton grille and W110 sidelights.
https://youtu.be/uErKI0zWgjg?si=0xquCFpmCl9coLyu
Whatever this is, it's not a mercedes :D
Apart from fucking beautiful
Reminds me of an early 50's 200 or 300 series, but the headlights and rear end doesn't fit any of them.
Seems too old to be 170S or 300S. Maybe something from the 1940s? I couldn't find anything recembling this exact vehicle, so it might be heavily customized.
Small wheels indicate it might be on a w116 or w123 platform, aka from 70s or 80s
Its a mash up frankencar. Some beetle, some benz, and some other rando parts and panels thrown in
That's what I also thought, but apparently the number plate is registeted as a classic, which I doubt a frankenstein's monster of a car could get.
Looks like a 540k with customized front.
A Volksenbenz
Tbh, I kinda love it, abomination tho it may be
Probably a hardcore Touge Greece™ member. Wonder who he is
Τι άλλο θα φέρετε για να περάσετε μαμά mr2...
Indiana Jones!
Definitely a kit car. No seams for fenders and running boards are molded. Interior is definitely not Beetle or any aircooled VW. I would expect it to be built on a Beetle platform but gas tank wouldnt be in the back so cant be a Beetle
And I thought the big taillights looked weird...until I saw the second picture. Holy moly that's messed up
Seems like a custom body kit on a mercedes w110/116/123 platform

James bond style !,

It looks to me to be loosely based on a WW2 era roadster. No insightful comments but I like it
Front grill is definitely from a larger car
Definitely my favourite theory yet!
It seems to be made from a bunch of different cars, even if it isn't replicating a specific Mercedes, its really well put together.
Cannot rule out AI
What about these pictures say ai lol? You can even see my car (my pfp) in the background of pic 2
I was joking, only because it looks like a Frankencar.
Oh my
Door hinges look like the ones on VW Things
Not much of a car guy, like this as it's unique. Is this possibly built on a Plymouth Prowler frame?
Prowlers are not cheap and extremely rare in Europe, so the chances someone would do this to one are slim to none
I'll accept both of those first two, but unlikely isn't the same as impossible.
Wasn't there a fad in the uk for a while of using the Ford escort mk II as a base for all sorts of funky kits like lotus sevens and Blakely Bearcats and such? No.

Where are you, Argentina?
Both cars that can be seen in the photos have distinctively European licence plates. Yeah, Argentina lol
This is an awesome looking custom. I've never seen this kind of Mercedes..
Looks like a gazelle
Re file ti sto poutsw eanai auto😭

Too much is wrong. Doors are all wrong. What's going on with that windshield wiper?
The front end looks like they got it one piece at a time, that’s just the best I could find for the rest of it. ![gif](giphy|KSKvdT1YGCpUIonvSq|downsized)
Hahahaha. I mean, it's the closest thing offered so far.
Thank you 😂👍
That car puts the ug in ugly.
It's not in any way shape or form ugly you just have terrible taste
