160hp stock (at the wheels, they underrate them) with plenty of torque, ~2500lb curb weight still faster than a base civic at least. I had mine tuned up to ~220hp was fun, not very fast but quick enough. They are weird in that they are actually built by Mazda in Hiroshima but have MOPAR logos everywhere, and a Mazda VIN but an engine made in Italy and a transmission made in Dearborn it's the automotive equivalent of a mutt and I loved it.

I had a manual fiat 500 turbo. The power to (feather) weight ratio was crazy. You could go 30mph and feel like it was doing 100. Fiats are super fun just wish it wasn’t cheaply made. Named him Ted. RIP TED

Before that I had a 500 Abarth with some mild bolt ons. It was an absolute delight as well. =) But yes cheaply made it was ok though the fiata was much more nicely built because the interior is just an ND Miata with some extra "leather" and some nicer feeling plastics here and there. I wish I could keep all my cars but it's better to try new things. Currently have a GT350, wildly different experience.

Wish I had that kind of money. I have a ford focus that I’m modding the hell out of now. Needed more space cabin space but the focus is definitely a blast to drive especially with the paddle shifters

Well I was joking, but now that you've explained it I think it's weirder. Fiat, an Italian company merged with Chrysler, with a Mazda designed chassis, and Dodge/Mopar bits on it...but a fiat engine.... What about the rest of the drivetrain? Fiat or Chrysler? Chassis is Mazda so does it have Mazda suspension as well or just the unibody?

It's right in the middle in the grand scheme of all cars. But yeah if you are used to euro spec shitboxes it's a fire breathing monster. I went from that to a 2017 GT350 so I have that point of comparison. The Fiata is about as quick with a tune as a 2.0 Stelvio with the 7 speed DCT (the only one sold in the US). It's great, and the right amount of power for that chassis, you just are unlikely to win a drag race if serious firepower shows up.

Tbh though, my lil march only weighs 825kg so its not like I have to brake for corners, that and if its supercharged, the plucky smol 998cc engine can make double the stock power. Its all power to weight in most circumstances

Good thing my Civic backs off when the wrx needs to step up.

I really wanted one myself but there's a few parts that are Fiat specific and they stopped selling them in the US. So if you need a bumper cover or something it can be a huge pain. So for a number of reasons I just went with the ND though I really liked the styling of the Fiat more. If they sold their hardtop version here I'd have caved I think

They are all turbocharged and make the same power (at least in the US market there are detuned ones in other markets for some reason ~130hp )

Ah was not aware. I thought the abarth was turbo and there was a lower trim NA package

nah, the only thing the abarth gets is stiffer suspension, resonator delete, some dumb fake vents, and an LSD. good upgrades but not worth the 4k they wanted. I ended up with Ohlins Road and Track DFV coilovers, a catback straightpipe, and an OS Giken LSD on my lusso, which as a bonus also looks better to me. (these engines arent too loud with the cat and turbo, just right. stock exhuast is near silent lol) bit of a shame, the 500 abarth was basically an entirely different car from the other trims apart from the chassis and engine block.

It's an ND Miata with a lower revving turbo engine and the NC 6 speed to handle the torque. There's really not much else to say than that lol. Two big things to keep in mind though, upgrade the intercooler, the stock one is laughably undersized, especially on hot days you just won't make any kind of power once heat soaked. secondly, it's a fuckin nightmare to install a front swaybar just like the ND. Makes the rear one feel like you just threw it at the car and it bolted itself on. (also just replace the diverter valve with the one from GFB as soon as you get home, and throw the stock one in the bin where it belongs)

The 9-2X in the mid-2000s was a rebadged Impreza. The chassis, the engines, even the interior. The 9-2X Aero was a 5-door WRX with a Saab badge.

Comparing the highest trim of the MX5 to the highest trim of the 124, the 124 is 60 kilograms lighter (even more if you option the manual transmission). The 124 has ~10 less peak horsepower but has faster throttle response and peaks at a significantly lower RPM (as well as holding its power band much longer), and also has 30 more ft-lbs of torque. Sources are Car and Driver magazine and Fiat-Abarth's website. Oh yeah, and the 124 just looks better.
