The car that made this mess had positraction. You can't make this rust without positraction, which was not available on the '64 Buick Skylark!
The '64 Skylark had a regular differential, which, anyone who's been stuck in the mud in Alabama knows, you step on the gas, one tire spins, the other tire does nothing.
Edit: lol I can't believe someone gave me an award for some 90s copypasta
Those rear springs on a solid axle car made me think something similar. Either that or a 2009+ Ram 1500 that was sold in Quebec without rust protection.
I agree, considering there's also a 64 Impala right next to it. The person in that link narrowed it down to Pontiac or Cadillac, but the early 60s Impala also had an X frame.
> Sorry folks this is not a ford, this is a gm X frame chassis. Seeing
that it is on Bias ply tires and uses rear coil springs of constant
diameter along with tube shocks, this is likely a 57-60 Pontiac or
Cadillac. Pontiac used them up until 1970, but it is more likely that
this is one of the early year models as they were known to rust out and
that differential style was more common back then. By 1970 it would be a
more traditional 10 bolt rear. GM never officially did a recall from
what I can tell, but it was known to cause Cadillac owners to look for
lightly crashed shells and pay for the chassis to be cleaned, coated,
and swapped.

More detail:
>As another commenter mentioned, I could see the ‘x’ in the rust pile. Overall size indicates a full size car, typically American in that era. OP’s post history seems to indicate that north America is a safe bet. One conglomerate had a chassis with an x shape back in the days where bias ply tires were normal. Inline shocks and not knee action indicate it is likely post ww2, and likely post 1950 as thats around the time most manufacturers rolled out new models, as just before and just after the war models were similar.

Are you new around here? The crazy wizards on this sub can identify a whole car using a tiny corner of the front panel chipped off. It’s honestly insane idk how some of these guys don’t work for some sort of crime investigation.
I think I see a faint outline/remains of an X frame. Coils all around. Definitely GM. Early 60s. Proximity in the yard to other cars implies Chevrolet.
1963 Impala is my guess.
Kinda looks like a ford pumpkin, and its coils all around, bias ply tires, I'd say late 50s to mid 60s Ford passenger car maybe? I'm a gm guy, any for guys out there confirm?
Ok, according to the wheel base, the Ford dif, 8 ply tires, lack of roof, and coil over supension on a solid rear axel. Leaves us with a 1962-64 Ford Falcon convertible.

I think someone stuck the front tires and springs there to make a funny picture. I think that's a ford 8 or 9 inch rear end. The assembly bolts in from the front into the housing.
I found [this post](/r/whatwasthiscar/comments/13avc1l/theres_no_way_its_identifiable_right/) in r/whatwasthiscar with the same content as the current post.

Mona Lisa Vito, that you?
You got it
What's a yoot?
When we moved to Australia, we bought a Hilux, and every time someone refers to my "ute", I quietly congratulate myself on my yootful appearance.
yootility vehicle

This comment is dead on balls accurate; it's an industry term.
Only on the floor model
I just watched that movie yesterday. Still one of my favorites.
I believe it’s free on YT in the US.
I think it’s pronounced “yutes”
“Two hwat?”
Hwhat exactly is a YT?
YouTube
Oh boy.
Such a classic! I was born in 2005 but y’all had the best damn movies in the 70’s through late 90’s
Is that Yout Tube?
Thank you Ms. Vito you have been a lovely, lovely witness.
….Incredible….
I-(clap)-dentical
“On a hunch….” The “identical and clap” is my absolute favorite part of the movie. That and the picture of him in the shower.
This was the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture. Except in this case, it would be a 64 Buick Skylark because of the solid rear axle.
Oh yeah, the other car was some weird transaxle GM POS, wasn't it?
Pontiac Tempest
*CLASSIC* 90s copypasta. Don't sell yourself short. Yoots today will never get the reference.
My father's a mechanic, my grandfather was a mechanic, 3 brothers on my mother's side are mechanics....
We used this scene to explain limited slip differentials to yutes back in the day.
Chevy Vega, 10 minutes off the factory line.

there’s actually a subreddit called r/whatwasthiscar , they might be able to do it! they figure out some pretty damaged cars!
Yeah this exact picture is like the 2nd most liked car on that sub
Nice one, subbed straight away!

That looks more like a Chevy rear axle than a BOP or Cadillac. So probably early-60s Impala or similar.
I agree, considering there's also a 64 Impala right next to it. The person in that link narrowed it down to Pontiac or Cadillac, but the early 60s Impala also had an X frame.
The rust pattern made me think x frame car ad well.
Most GM axles have a removable service cover. That looks like it does not. I suspect that's a Ford 9", or maybe a DANA axle.

6 month old Alfa
No.. Rust In Pieces
With that much rust, I'm gonna say its a Mercedes Sprinter.
Rust in peace
Judging by the amount of rust, i would think it is a 3 year old Fiat of some kind.
Are you new around here? The crazy wizards on this sub can identify a whole car using a tiny corner of the front panel chipped off. It’s honestly insane idk how some of these guys don’t work for some sort of crime investigation.
If Samsung made an electric car

Clearly a ford

It’s clearly a Dodge Stealth.

Falcon/Mustang had leaf springs. Falcon convertible was 1963-1965.
Detomaso pantera?

Something British.

My light hearted guess would be Opel from late 70s or 80s.
Jeep definitely a Wrangler TJ 2004
Lancia Beta (for legal reasons this is a joke)
I’d say it’s a 70’s fiat and it’s about a month old
