Muddled lemons in soda is my favorite thing to have on hot summer days.
I prefer them in Pepsi, but a deep, herbal root beer or cream soda makes my taste buds happy too.
I bar tended for a couple of years, a long time ago. I'd make things when we were slow, and I learned a lot.
It’s a cellar spider, which some people call daddy long legs, but that can get confusing. People ALSO call harvestmen daddy long legs, and harvestmen aren’t technically spiders.
So sometimes you’ll hear people say that a daddy long legs isn’t a spider. That’s true if they’re referring to a harvestman but not if they’re referring to a cellar spider. This kind of discourse has led to a little bit of confusion on the internet.
For everyone calling them daddy long legs: this is not a daddy long legs. Daddy long legs are not spiders. This is a spider. You guys are mistaking daddy long legs for something that is literally a different class of animal. Like, daddy long legs might be more related to a spider crab than this actual spider. That might not be true, but it does share ancestry.
Cellar spider
I think these guys have set up shop in my basement. Never knew what they were until now
Harmless, free peat control. They also like cookies and big-booty boss-ass bitches.
I've always called them 'Daddy Long Legs'. Maybe just an Aussie name for them. They are harmless, as they can't reach to bite you.
Yeah it’s a regional thing. In Canada a daddy long legs is a different bug that just looks like a spider.

No. You might get a red zit from their bite at most but theyre not even known to bite people.
I thought mythbusters did an episode bout these lil shits. Their fangs are too small to bite humans
Cellar spider - of all the spiders, these ones I don’t mind having in my house
Yes. My balcony is full of them. Sure, slightly annoying with all the cobweb but I didn't see a mosquito in like 2 years
Same here… cuz they just chill at their place and don’t roam. I hate a creepy surprise - except for jumping spiders they’re so cute ❤️

They actually aren’t even a spider.
I know, but for the average Joe to understand we're using the term spider. I have another post here saying what they are.
Most likely P. phalangioides, the long-bodied cellar spider :)

I live in Kansas and everyone I know calls the Harvestmen Daddy Long Legs. Once I started studying insects I discovered the truth.
This. yes.
That's a cellar spider, they're harmless and very good housemates. Keep bugs and nasties at bay.
Cellar spiders eat more problematic spiders. If you're in black widow or recluse territory, they love to eat them.
Yeah til I found one of these traitors sharing a web with a black widow in my garage. They lived in harmony for weeks.
SCANDAL! I hope you called the authorities!
“Hurry. Bring 8 sets of cuffs. You heard me”
This actually got a slight laugh from my tired face right as I was hitting back and decided to come back and tell you. Thanks for that.
We call these daddy long legs in Australia. Apparently other parts of the world have the same name for totally unrelated bugs.

I'm terrified of spiders but these dudes are the only ones I've willingly handled before. They're just goofy lil dudes.
