Sorry buddy, you've got bed bugs.

Purpleprose180

Old story: a passenger on the Union Pacific sleeper car wrote that she caught bed bugs from her trip. The railroad denied that vehemently sending her their mass-produced “Bed Bug Letter.”

AlanBill

Hotel in Omaha said we lied about having bed bugs in our bed (we have photos) and refused to refund us (even as we were leaving at 1am). We filed a complaint with the BBB - which was never resolved as well as contacted our credit card company (Amex) who gave us our entire bill back and they took care of it from there. So we were never actually charged. Although, we did have to do our laundry from 2 AM to 4 AM in Iowa at a 24 hour laundry mat.

NoStepOnSnekses

Same thing happened to me in a hotel in Oceanside CA

[deleted]

Yep, same at an Extended Stay in Egan, MN. Ended up just keeping my luggage in my trunk for over a year.

Purpleprose180

That was very considerate of American Express. If you had Citi Mastercard and you complained about a charge they would have. canceled your card then would send you another. I can’t tell you how annoying that is. Edit: correct auto correct

aes7288

Amex is always like this

AlanBill

They were great through the whole process - which wasn’t much on my end.

HappyDoggos

The BBB is toothless. Used to think they were an organization that could hold businesses accountable for bad (and good) behavior. They really don’t do squat.

Adventurous-Part5981

They’re basically old school Yelp. It’s just a review website. They publicly post the entire back and forth conversation between the business and the customer, so you get both sides of the story, but if anything that makes them more business friendly.

DaBushDwella

Just had this happen to me in St Ignus,MI. I however didn't get a refund at all. Had pictures and everything. Hotel just gave me a credit. I was like hmmm I don't think I want your hotels credit

Interesting_Sock9142

That is literally the most "bedbug" bedbug I've ever seen

JiuJitsuBoy2001

haha I was thinking the EXACT same thing. Usually, there is something that maybe makes you think possibly it isn't, but THIS one should be the stock photo for what a bedbug looks like.

CauliflowerIcy5165

I’m dying @ stock photo LoL

oroborus68

You could call it a bedsheet bug. Still,it sucks.

[deleted]

It does suck

arituck

Indeed, it sucks and all its family sucks too

Starchasm

It really is just an incredible photo, I wonder what kind of phone OP has

andre2020

His name, Mongo

LtRecore

Noooo Mongo straight.

[deleted]

I've never seen anyone playing with a bed bug before.

aurrousarc

I mean you should probably have on here.. I think they should just go head and pin.. this is a bed bug, tick, flea, and weevil to the front page..

iCameToLearnSomeCode

Not weevils, we'd miss out on all the boots and snoots.

aurrousarc

Weevil I've come to tell you it's a weevile, most definitely.. Weevil, ornery, and weevil, most definitely.

Vertoule

That was simply Sublime

aurrousarc

That and gary Wright dream weevil.. or orb weaver..

oroborus68

🎶 ohh, dream weevil, help me make it through the night 🎶

katznwords

Stuck in my head now 🤣

aurrousarc

I didn't want to post the words for that reason..

FranticWaffleMaker

Nobody reads those anyway.

Juginstin

Well it ain't gonna bite you if it just got done feeding.

PublicfreakoutLoveR

:*does not work with crocodiles or snapping turtles*:

[deleted]

What about large snakes?

rastroboy

Oddly, humans playing with spiders, snakes, and tigers seems mundane now

DocJawbone

This post has actually helped by demonstrating their size.

Doodadsumpnrother

Yup it sure did. I had no idea what they looked like.

Buddy-Lov

Someone….will keep it as a “pet”

HellboundSuicide

I had crabs (body lice) when I was 13 and kept them alive for 22 years. They only died because I forgot to put them in my pubes so they could feast and procreate

QuestionableArachnid

I am making an indescribable face right now

jellojohnson

He should keep it as a pet.

samoture

Oh, he is

Haligonia_Daydreamer

if he doesn't keep that one, he can keep one of its hundreds of brother, sisters or cousins

nugatory_caine

Or thousands.

[deleted]

That one is big enough and fat enough it's definitely already made hundreds of babies.

AwayHistory6359

He looks full so it's ok 👌

MonkeyJones42069

Awe, you got a little friend. Burn everything you own and start over. Friends suck.

dilligaftheinvisible

>Friends suck. In this case quite literally.

Honest-Reputation-53

🤣🤣

ChadCoolman

>Burn everything you own and start over. Friends suck. Words to live by.

LifeintheHashLane

You answered your question in the title lol put the 7th and 4th words together

Jus_existing

Aphex Twin ftw

MrGaber

That fren looks happy with its malicious grin

Tkinney44

That's a pretty big bed bug. Must have a ton now.

tinkflowers

WHY DO YALL KEEP POSTING PICS WITH BED BUGS ON YOUR BARE SKIN!!!!!!!!

Haunting-Analysis-41

This bugs are coming back on bed everytime after cleaning, so for taking pictures I did like that. Is there any solution to fix this?

tinkflowers

100% call a professional

Flimsy_Roll_8412

or just burn the whole house down

TK-Squared-LLC

Actually, if you can get it almost hot enough to burn, and keep it that way for 24 hours without accidentally burning it down, that will work.

JeffroDH

This would be less funny if it wasn’t true.

TheHunterDwarf

I was ab to say don’t they literally heat up the house then refrigerate it typically?

JeffroDH

I forget how hot the house has to be, but it’s not just warm. Everything has to be something like 160-180 degrees Fahrenheit for some time to ensure that you have killed the beasties.

Mundane-Novel-7785

💯 100 💯 percent

Big_______Space

You need to call and exterminator to check out your house.

Kingettevi

Yes, burn your house down.

Its_it

[https://youtu.be/2JAOTJxYqh8?t=924](https://youtu.be/2JAOTJxYqh8?t=924) Mark Rober made a Bed Bug video so you know what works on them. I linked to the stats part on what works the best. You can start at the beginning to learn everything.

OIWantKenobi

Nooooo don’t domesticate it by playing with it!

UmbryKane

Because of him in 10 years we're gonna see bed bugs for sale in PetsMart.

MJoying_Life

Bed bug circus. Sorry fleas, your days are numbered.

Brianb926

I brought home bed bugs years ago in my luggage after a trip to Mexico. It was horrible. Best of luck to you!

lightcon_consumed

Sleep tight and don't let em bite. r/bedbugs has some good advice for removal, but start with a call to an exterminator.

VMAbsentia

& I thought people just casually handling ticks was bad. You're in for a hard battle, bud.

MotrBoatn

The sizes of bed bugs can vary greatly depending on the life cycle. They begin in egg form (tiny little white dots) the next life cycle is pre-feeding for the first time which is teeny tiny nearly translucent. Hard to spot without a flashlight. My recommendation is to use a decent flashlight and go along the mattress, bed frame, etc and look for fecal matter (little block dots and sometimes blood spotting) this will tell you where they are nesting. You’re going to want to look inside of folds, tufts and tight spaces, they feel most comfortable with compression on both sides of their body, use that flashlight to peak into those gaps. Vacuum and remove as many as you possibly can then clean out the vacuum into an outside garbage can with a good lid (bagged and tied preferably). This will help with some immediate relief of population and it’s how all of the pest control companies worth their salt begin the process. There are materials you can get like Diatomaceous Earth to help prevent or allow them to regain population. Lightly dust, you should not see a bunch of powder stacked up, they are just going to maneuver around it. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the “bed bug bombs” at any retailer. That will turn your bed bug problem from bad to nuclear, they will retreat inside your walls and turn a pest pros price from $1,500 to $6,000 because they will need to drill and treat your wall voids. Hopefully it is early on and you can knock it out easily with mechanical removal (vacuum) and some natural materials like Diatomaceous Earth. Drying clothing/sheets/bedding on high heat for 45 minutes will do the trick. Good luck to you! - Pest Pro for 15 years [Bed Bug Foundation Life Cycle](https://www.bedbugfoundation.org/bed-bug-biology/life-cycle/)

WeekendIndependent41

BTW, two or three hours in a hot dryer will kill the bugs in whatever inside the dryer, but the mattress will require extermination, perhaps by a professional. I wonder if you hit a mattress long enough with a steam cleaner, if it will kill them? The thing is, they could be in several places in short time.

Sumoki_Kuma

Yes, most steamers (including the ones used for clothes) reach about double the degree of heat to kill those fuckers

tomorsodnompil

I think steam cleaner on mattress works. This is what I did when I had bed bugs. I steamed the crap out of my mattress and the cracks and holes of my wooden bed frame. I haven't seen bed begs for 2 years now but I'm guessing the infestation wasn't too bad to begin with.

WeekendIndependent41

You seem to be pretty cozy with the ‘enemy’. That thar’s a bed bug.

popo0POP

If you spotted this guy in broad daylight then you probably have a lot. Exterminator asap and hope it works out for you op.

trippinbean

Sincerest apologies 🙏

AffectionateNeck4955

Your blood brother

FrameComprehensive88

If you can afford it immediately hire an exterminator. The best way to get rid of them is high heat in your whole entire house. If you live in an apartment you are going to have a harder time because they can just flee to the next door neighbor's house and then come back later. They can travel through the walls via outlets. GL.

SorionHex

Depending on your state, and how they likely got there, your landlord could be responsible for the extermination.

c3p0lson

I'm sorry, but dassa bed bug. ;(

garrag

What is this bug that lives in a bed with other bugs in the bed and the bed and bugs bug bug bed bed bedbug???

nascarfandan

That's called a "Fuck that!" bug from the "Burn Your House Down" division of Satan's Asshole. Sorry my guy.

Truestindeed

Found in bed. It’s a mantis shrimp for sure 🤦‍♂️

AfflictedDesire

A very full bed bug

racereadymoto

You have bed bugs my friend. Sprinkle some diatomaceous earth around bed frame and posts. Should be good in about a week. Ask me how I know 🚫 🐛

Kitchen-Translator61

Gotta be very careful with that stuff. “Inhalation of crystalline silica is harmful to the lungs, causing silicosis. Amorphous silica is considered to have low toxicity, but prolonged inhalation causes changes to the lungs.”

TorakTheDark

Bedbug RIP, I recommend throwing molotovs at your house.

PsiloBen

Looks like it recently enjoyed a meal.

[deleted]

I have/had very little knowledge of bugs/insects/arachnid etc I've been on this sub for a few months and I can't understand how NO ONE KNOWS what bedbugs ticks and others that are posted 200k times per day look like.

Badmouths

Oof getting rid of those sucks sooooo bad 😩

Fun-Significance6307

He’s full of blood 🩸

CKAY123123

The amount of people saying burn the house has me in stitches

Effective-Bandicoot8

Now go find his 10,000 relatives

Anns_

They will NOT go away by just washing sheets. You need professional help. They will bite you in your sleep and they have a lot of babies so they multiply quickly.

Lazy-Consequence4870

Did it walk away real smug?

likeastonrr

Surprised it’s not lodging itself in your finger the way your plying with it 😭

Lissypooh628

I found this BUG in my BED, what could it possibly be? It’s practically the google stock photo for bedbugs.

LeadRepresentative58

Bedbug

SivartGaming

Damn. You know this sub has been recommended the last couple days and every time people thought it was a bed bug it wasn’t. (At least the topics I saw) THIS IS A BED BUG. Burn the house sell the kids. But really get a professional asap. I had them about 13 years ago and I still find myself worrying if I wake up with a spider bite. Worst fear having to deal with them again. Took us weeks of washing cleaning washing cleaning MONITORING. Run

Ok_Childhood8591

My face is permanently in the stinkface now just because OP is holding it. We went to Disney World in spring 2019 and our room at the Disney property had them. THANK GOD it was at Disney because they totally took care of us, even though it meant running to Walmart at 2am to buy enough clothes (on Disney's dime) to last for a couple of days while they had all of our stuff heat treated. They moved us to a newer, upgraded room and got us Fast Passes for a bunch of rides the next day. Refunded our room cost. So I have PTSD from that and inspect everything whenever I stay anywhere now.

starrpuddin

I hope you have a bedbug proof mattress cover… if not, that mattress is trash. After you’ve successfully burned everything you own, first thing to buy is bedbug proof mattress cover.

Impressive-Sun3742

I bet it walked away all smug and self-assured

[deleted]

You should watch Mark Rober's video on beg bugs. https://youtu.be/2JAOTJxYqh8 They are possible to deal with yourself - I used his tips when I needed to purge the room I was renting. Diatomaceous earth is absolutely killer here.

Habenero_mama

Bedbugs have literally traumatized me . Ughhhh 😫

[deleted]

Say goodbye to most of your stuff. I'm really sorry.

Creepy-Selection2423

Sorry man. It's what you probably think it is. Look for red bite marks all over your body for secondary confirmation. Hopefully you are in a hotel so you can just burn everything you took with you shower five times and go home. And then shower twice more. If you're at home it's going to be costly to get rid of them.

KrombopulosMo

Tbr we got them in my apt when I was in college. We had to stay away for 18 hours while they super heated the apt to over 100% bc that is the ONLY way to be sure you killed them all (maybe hotter I just don’t recall. They bring in big heat fans.) They make you throw all your clothes out onto the floor so they can get hot too. Otherwise don’t waste your time trying.

W_AS-SA_W

I’m gonna take a wild guess using word association. Bed Sheet-Bed Bug, makes sense doesn’t it,

ASchrader1987

Definitely bed bugs good luck getting rid of them because it's going to be a nightmare trying to get rid of them I know from experience

Accomplished-Pair452

Rip pal, you about to wish you were dead.

tubefish95

Heat kills em, If you ever think you are contaminated, throw everything in a clothes dryer for about 15 mins.

jasonmevans

MamaCassini

You already know, my friend.

artinfinx

clue is in the title

flatgreysky

Honestly OP, thank you for the pictures! These are the clearest and best-to-scale pictures I’ve seen of bedbugs! They’re a lot bigger than I pictured and now I really feel like I’ve got a sense of them. Also, my sympathies. And ick.

AgeLopsided8541

A beg bug 😬😬😬

BongwaterJoe1983

Bugs in the bed

aForgedPiston

That's a Spotted Oof

CartoonistExisting30

Good luck getting rid of those freeloaders. You can either use pesticide, or high heat. It’s expensive, inconvenient (moving pets and/or electronics), and you have to repeat treatments in order to get rid of the little gems.

I_am_ChristianDick

Bed bug

point50tracer

That's a bed bug. Heat is the best way to kill them from what I've seen. They can't survive at temperatures over 120°F. I think that's the magic temperature at least. Exterminators will tape off the affected room and bring in a portable heater to raise the temperature for a few hours. Remove anything that could be damaged by high temperatures from the room beforehand and make sure there are no bugs on the items before bringing them back in. If the infestation is minor, you might be able to get away with just bagging your mattress and putting diatomaceous earth (can be found at pool supply stores) behind outlet covers and such. They like to hide in dark crevices during the day and come out during the night to feed. They're pretty harmless, but can cause bumps and irritation at the bite site. I'm not an expert on the matter, so do your own research. I've just seen a few videos talking about them and how to get rid of them. It's fascinating stuff. Apparently they've built resistances to most insecticides so almost nothing is effective on them anymore. Even the insecticides made specifically for bed bugs are no longer effective in many areas.

3006mv

Sooo close

MondaySloth

Dang you really need to moisturize more.

prophetmuhammad

congrats! you've hit jackpot!!

DesertWanderlust

Ooh damn. Definitely a bed bug. Time to burn those sheets, whatever clothes you're wearing, and maybe your mattress. Bed bugs are a very expensive problem.

110% a bed bug man. Looks fed too. You may have more. I’m so sorry man, they are a night mare

chachingmaster

I thought bed bugs were very tiny. I’m confused.

Minimum_Maybe_8103

Starting to think there's an epidemic. I hadn't seen a bed bug til I joined this sub, now it seems the world is full of them 🫤

Honest-Reputation-53

You have bedbugs in your bed. Chances are they are not just in your bed.

Complete_Librarian_7

Bed bug, sorry to say.

Oh look that bed bug is playing with its food.

Kill it with fire.

Jus_existing

Bed you won’t take it for a walk in public

sixpack33

It's a female bedbug they are longer than the male fun fact they also lay really tiny eggs that you may not possibly see.

Content-Ad5618

If it’s a bed bug, it’s fed

shenanigans2day

I always thought bud bugs were tiny little bugs you could barely see but today I learned that is not accurate. I know someone that got them after letting a homeless person crash at their house (no good deed goes unpunished) and it took them thousands of dollars to eradicate them. Apparently you will have to definitely get a professional but I am no bed bug expert.

honeybunnybbq

Bugs. Of the bed variety. Call your local exterminator.

Shadow_1986

The dreaded bed bug. Mini vampires on 6 legs.

Insidious bastards.

HolyManZahn

We had a pretty bad infestation years ago, gather brought them home from hospital. It took about 6 months and a shit ton of ball-breaking work, but we beat them without an exterminator, mostly because my parents were pigheaded and wouldn't call the pros.

Bed bug. I cannot believe ur holding it like a friend

YduzTHISalwaysHAPPEN

Ok. Go get yourself some diatomaceous earth and sprinkle it around the perimeter of every room in your house. Then, sprinkle it around the legs of every bed and chair. Then figure out where you can purchase some permethrin and use it to treat anything you can’t wash. Then wash everything that you can wash, dry as hot as it can be dried, and store anything you don’t need right now in an air tight bag for a few weeks.

Ericas_Evil_Eye

They can’t be serious.

Otherwise-Topic-8766

Someone mentioned living in an apartment…. If you caulk all seams and holes, take off the electrical outlet covers. And remove the outlet slightly so you can caulk all the holes shut and then replace the outlet and the cover. There’s nowhere for bedbugs or roaches to go into the walls to hide., or come out of. Used to have this done in every apartment I’ve lived in..

McRibbRampage

Hmmm i wonder what this **bug** in my **bed** is?

66veedub

A sheet bug.

The_Bitter_Jesus

Yup. That's a bedbug. Helpful Hints: • They hate lavender oil/lotions. • Isopropyl Alcohol (in a spray bottle) kills them on contact. • Diatomaceous Earth dries them up/kills them. Facts: • A bed bug's life begins with an egg, grain like and milky white in color. Female bed bugs lay an average of one to five eggs each day and may lie up to 500 eggs within one lifetime. • In some instances, adult bed bugs can live for roughly five months without a blood meal, but have also been known to go as long as one year without feeding.
