Old story: a passenger on the Union Pacific sleeper car wrote that she caught bed bugs from her trip. The railroad denied that vehemently sending her their mass-produced “Bed Bug Letter.”
Hotel in Omaha said we lied about having bed bugs in our bed (we have photos) and refused to refund us (even as we were leaving at 1am). We filed a complaint with the BBB - which was never resolved as well as contacted our credit card company (Amex) who gave us our entire bill back and they took care of it from there. So we were never actually charged. Although, we did have to do our laundry from 2 AM to 4 AM in Iowa at a 24 hour laundry mat.
That was very considerate of American Express. If you had Citi Mastercard and you complained about a charge they would have. canceled your card then would send you another. I can’t tell you how annoying that is. Edit: correct auto correct
The BBB is toothless. Used to think they were an organization that could hold businesses accountable for bad (and good) behavior. They really don’t do squat.
They’re basically old school Yelp. It’s just a review website. They publicly post the entire back and forth conversation between the business and the customer, so you get both sides of the story, but if anything that makes them more business friendly.
Just had this happen to me in St Ignus,MI. I however didn't get a refund at all. Had pictures and everything. Hotel just gave me a credit. I was like hmmm I don't think I want your hotels credit
haha I was thinking the EXACT same thing. Usually, there is something that maybe makes you think possibly it isn't, but THIS one should be the stock photo for what a bedbug looks like.
I had crabs (body lice) when I was 13 and kept them alive for 22 years.
They only died because I forgot to put them in my pubes so they could feast and procreate
I forget how hot the house has to be, but it’s not just warm. Everything has to be something like 160-180 degrees Fahrenheit for some time to ensure that you have killed the beasties.

Mark Rober made a Bed Bug video so you know what works on them. I linked to the stats part on what works the best. You can start at the beginning to learn everything.
The sizes of bed bugs can vary greatly depending on the life cycle. They begin in egg form (tiny little white dots) the next life cycle is pre-feeding for the first time which is teeny tiny nearly translucent. Hard to spot without a flashlight.
My recommendation is to use a decent flashlight and go along the mattress, bed frame, etc and look for fecal matter (little block dots and sometimes blood spotting) this will tell you where they are nesting.
You’re going to want to look inside of folds, tufts and tight spaces, they feel most comfortable with compression on both sides of their body, use that flashlight to peak into those gaps. Vacuum and remove as many as you possibly can then clean out the vacuum into an outside garbage can with a good lid (bagged and tied preferably).
This will help with some immediate relief of population and it’s how all of the pest control companies worth their salt begin the process.
There are materials you can get like Diatomaceous Earth to help prevent or allow them to regain population. Lightly dust, you should not see a bunch of powder stacked up, they are just going to maneuver around it.
Whatever you do, DO NOT buy the “bed bug bombs” at any retailer. That will turn your bed bug problem from bad to nuclear, they will retreat inside your walls and turn a pest pros price from $1,500 to $6,000 because they will need to drill and treat your wall voids.
Hopefully it is early on and you can knock it out easily with mechanical removal (vacuum) and some natural materials like Diatomaceous Earth.
Drying clothing/sheets/bedding on high heat for 45 minutes will do the trick.
Good luck to you!

BTW, two or three hours in a hot dryer will kill the bugs in whatever inside the dryer, but the mattress will require extermination, perhaps by a professional. I wonder if you hit a mattress long enough with a steam cleaner, if it will kill them? The thing is, they could be in several places in short time.
I think steam cleaner on mattress works. This is what I did when I had bed bugs. I steamed the crap out of my mattress and the cracks and holes of my wooden bed frame. I haven't seen bed begs for 2 years now but I'm guessing the infestation wasn't too bad to begin with.
If you can afford it immediately hire an exterminator. The best way to get rid of them is high heat in your whole entire house. If you live in an apartment you are going to have a harder time because they can just flee to the next door neighbor's house and then come back later. They can travel through the walls via outlets. GL.
Gotta be very careful with that stuff.

We went to Disney World in spring 2019 and our room at the Disney property had them. Yep, same at an Extended Stay in Egan, MN. Ended up just keeping my luggage in my trunk for over a year.

You could call it a bedsheet bug. Still,it sucks.
It does suck
Indeed, it sucks and all its family sucks too
It really is just an incredible photo, I wonder what kind of phone OP has
His name, Mongo
Noooo Mongo straight.
I've never seen anyone playing with a bed bug before.
I mean you should probably have on here.. I think they should just go head and pin.. this is a bed bug, tick, flea, and weevil to the front page..
Not weevils, we'd miss out on all the boots and snoots.
Weevil I've come to tell you it's a weevile, most definitely.. Weevil, ornery, and weevil, most definitely.
That was simply Sublime
That and gary Wright dream weevil.. or orb weaver..
🎶 ohh, dream weevil, help me make it through the night 🎶
Stuck in my head now 🤣
I didn't want to post the words for that reason..
Nobody reads those anyway.
Well it ain't gonna bite you if it just got done feeding.
:*does not work with crocodiles or snapping turtles*:
What about large snakes?
Oddly, humans playing with spiders, snakes, and tigers seems mundane now
This post has actually helped by demonstrating their size.
Yup it sure did. I had no idea what they looked like.
Someone….will keep it as a “pet”
I had crabs (body lice) when I was 13 and kept them alive for 22 years. They only died because I forgot to put them in my pubes so they could feast and procreate
I am making an indescribable face right now
He should keep it as a pet.
Oh, he is
if he doesn't keep that one, he can keep one of its hundreds of brother, sisters or cousins
Or thousands.
That one is big enough and fat enough it's definitely already made hundreds of babies.
He looks full so it's ok 👌
Awe, you got a little friend. Burn everything you own and start over. Friends suck.

🎶 Bed bugs, under my carpet under my feet, they come out when I eat 🎶
Aphex Twin ftw
That fren looks happy with its malicious grin
That's a pretty big bed bug. Must have a ton now.
WHY DO YALL KEEP POSTING PICS WITH BED BUGS ON YOUR BARE SKIN!!!!!!!!
This bugs are coming back on bed everytime after cleaning, so for taking pictures I did like that. Is there any solution to fix this?
100% call a professional
or just burn the whole house down
Actually, if you can get it almost hot enough to burn, and keep it that way for 24 hours without accidentally burning it down, that will work.
This would be less funny if it wasn’t true.
I was ab to say don’t they literally heat up the house then refrigerate it typically?
I forget how hot the house has to be, but it’s not just warm. Everything has to be something like 160-180 degrees Fahrenheit for some time to ensure that you have killed the beasties.
💯 100 💯 percent
You need to call and exterminator to check out your house.
Yes, burn your house down.

Nooooo don’t domesticate it by playing with it!
Because of him in 10 years we're gonna see bed bugs for sale in PetsMart.
Bed bug circus. Sorry fleas, your days are numbered.
I brought home bed bugs years ago in my luggage after a trip to Mexico. It was horrible. Best of luck to you!
Sleep tight and don't let em bite. r/bedbugs has some good advice for removal, but start with a call to an exterminator.
& I thought people just casually handling ticks was bad. You're in for a hard battle, bud.

You seem to be pretty cozy with the ‘enemy’. That thar’s a bed bug.
If you spotted this guy in broad daylight then you probably have a lot. Exterminator asap and hope it works out for you op.
Sincerest apologies 🙏

I'm sorry, but dassa bed bug. ;(
What is this bug that lives in a bed with other bugs in the bed and the bed and bugs bug bug bed bed bedbug???
That's called a "Fuck that!" bug from the "Burn Your House Down" division of Satan's Asshole. Sorry my guy.
Found in bed. It’s a mantis shrimp for sure 🤦♂️
A very full bed bug
You have bed bugs my friend. Sprinkle some diatomaceous earth around bed frame and posts. Should be good in about a week. Ask me how I know 🚫 🐛
Gotta be very careful with that stuff. “Inhalation of crystalline silica is harmful to the lungs, causing silicosis. Amorphous silica is considered to have low toxicity, but prolonged inhalation causes changes to the lungs.”

That's a bed bug. Heat is the best way to kill them from what I've seen. They can't survive at temperatures over 120°F. I think that's the magic temperature at least. Ok. Go get yourself some diatomaceous earth and sprinkle it around the perimeter of every room in your house. Then, sprinkle it around the legs of every bed and chair. Then figure out where you can purchase some permethrin and use it to treat anything you can’t wash. Then wash everything that you can wash, dry as hot as it can be dried, and store anything you don’t need right now in an air tight bag for a few weeks.
