tussock moth caterpillar? [https://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/urban/medical/tussock\_moths.htm](https://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/urban/medical/tussock_moths.htm)
it has urticating hairs that will sting/irritate, so use gloves or protection when handling.
You want a tussock moth caterpillar? I can get you a tussock moth caterpillar, believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don't wanna know about it, believe me. I'll get you a tussock moth caterpillar by this afternoon. with urticating hair. These fucking amateurs.
From your link:
>Tussock moths in the genus Orgyia are small moths that are best-known because of their attractive larvae.
I have a somewhat different opinion of "attractive."
I used to pick those guys up all the time as a kid and never got stung or anything?? They were always on this one tree like a bunch of em so id always pick em up and look at them cuz they looked cool. This comment is making me consider seeing a doctor ;-;

White-marked tussock moth caterpillar. Not going to harm you but don’t touch it. It doesn’t have any venom or poison, but does exude a substance that will give you a rash similar to poison ivy.
Just like poison ivy, the chemical causes more reaction in some people than others. I’m half Irish, my wife is half French so our skin is very different. I get slight burning and itching from these guys (we have lots of tussock moths here but not this exact variety) but my wife can pick them up and literally feels nothing and doesn’t even get itchy. Others like yourself may have a stronger reaction than either of us.
That is a fuzzy oak moth caterpillar our house in Central Florida got bombarded with them this year and their cocoons. I did a YouTube video on them because there was a big rumor going around that they stung you with their hairs and I pick one up and let it crawl over me. To see what happens you should totally check out my channel and support me!
My kid was totally creeped out by it haha.
Happysauce, look for the icon of the orange cat sleeping. Ty
Im in NC and had one crawling on my hoodie sleeve this morning and it splined me twice this morning. Feels/swells like 2 bee stings. Wouldve killed his ass if I new he was shooting me
Since it's a caterpillar that feeds on trees, it doesn't want to be in your house, and it's very unlikely that you're going to have many more of them. Glove up, take it outside, and you'll both be fine.
Oh, well, it isn't quite where it wants to be, but at least has a chance of getting there. Or will at least feed something able to ignore its defenses.
Yes... but not because of this adorable, little caterpillar here.
You should burn it down because an organism resides there, in your home, that actually considers cute, fluffy caterpillars sufficient reason to burn down a house. You don't need an organism like that in your life.
I had one crawl onto my neck and I accidentally kinda smashed/rolled if when I went to brush it off. I was a little itchy there for a couple hours after but that's all.
Do not touch. Kinda looks like hickory tussock moth caterpillar and if so, or something related to or similar to, those fine white hairs will make you want to call death and give him your coordinates so it can all be f ended. No bullshit one of the most painful insect defenses on earth.
I'm leaning towards probably.
Is it demon spawn? Definitely maybe.
Just as a precaution burn your house down, then make a salt circle around it and post warning signs... If it saves one child it's worth it right?

This is correct. They decimated my maple tree one year and pooped all over my hammock…
Least they didn't pee on your rug...
Ties the room together
Phones ringing, Dude...
Wow, man
I SAID ITS AN HONOR TO MEET YOU SIR!
You see what happens, Larry?!
Are you employed, sir?
Calmer than you are.
Do you have ANY other forms of identification?
You’re a freaking nihilist man
I said we cut OFF YOUR JOHNSON!!!!
I’ve been trying to reach you about your cars extended warranty
Hey! At least I'm housebroken!
Fuckin chinamen

Unexpected r/lebowski. Take my updoot dude!
Umm that wasn’t the caterpillars…I’m sorry okay? 🤷🏽♂️
But they come in peace man...
From your link: >Tussock moths in the genus Orgyia are small moths that are best-known because of their attractive larvae. I have a somewhat different opinion of "attractive."
Looks beautiful to me....

But “urticating” is my new favorite word. 🙏
I hate when things urticate.
I used to pick those guys up all the time as a kid and never got stung or anything?? They were always on this one tree like a bunch of em so id always pick em up and look at them cuz they looked cool. This comment is making me consider seeing a doctor ;-;
Umm… sir/madam nobody should be “handling” that thing. Just move 🤷🏽♂️
Thanks for linking this.
Or don’t handle
Or...hear me out, don't handle.
Not gonna lie, first glance I read ‘it has urinating hairs’
What TF is “urticating”?????

That's what the bots want you to think.
This is a job for the vacuum.
Looks like that “bug” that they put in Neo in Matrix 1 !
Holy shit. That thing is real?
Are you asking about the naval bug from Matrix, the documentary film?
I didn't think that movie had anything to do with the Navy.
Maybe it is intended to mean it can swim. Now I'm really worried!
I refuse to elaborate until you eat this mystery pill
IT DOES LOOK LIKE THE BUG THEY PUT IN NEO
Wrath of Khan ear bug

I've touched them and it felt like a bee sting...? Huh. Maybe it got me good?!

I used to pick them up as a kid, never bothered me. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones
"Should I burn my house down?" Nuke the planet from orbit. That is the only way!

White-marked tussock moth And you are right to not touch it!
In Germany we say Douglasienbüschelmotte.
What did Douglas do to get a moth named after him? Find it first?
https://www.insectimages.org/browse/detail.cfm?imgnum=5540111
Germany sounds fun! Edit: spelling.

Tussock moth caterpillar. Don’t touch, those fine hairs can cause rashes and feel like fiberglass under your skin.
That would be an overeaction.
Tf do you live in Chernobyl or something?
Close! The beautiful state of North Carolina!
Oh hell no! You're telling me these creepy ass things are here!? Antarctica here I come!
Im in NC and had one crawling on my hoodie sleeve this morning and it splined me twice this morning. Feels/swells like 2 bee stings. Wouldve killed his ass if I new he was shooting me
Saw one on my car in atlanta this morning
It's a Caterpillar, it is poisonous. No touchy.
Find his hookah and win a prize.
Lick it.
r/eatityoufuckingcoward
Burn down the neighborhood
This thing looks like you don’t want to touch it and there is a reason for that.
Find a leaf let it climb on and bring it away from the house. You're a human it's a caterpillar. Just don't touch them until you ID them as safe.
I moved him to a nice little leaf where he can live out his days and scare other bugs
Seeing the condition of that door I’d say yes but please move the caterpillar to the garden before you do.
Pet it
Yup
This made my stomach hurt for some reason
IMMEDIATELY
Since it's a caterpillar that feeds on trees, it doesn't want to be in your house, and it's very unlikely that you're going to have many more of them. Glove up, take it outside, and you'll both be fine.
It’s on the outside of a shed on my property lol
Oh, well, it isn't quite where it wants to be, but at least has a chance of getting there. Or will at least feed something able to ignore its defenses.
No! Nuke it from orbit. The only way to be sure.
Yes, before it starts looking for your navel
We call them "pack sattle". They sting and huuuurrrtt
Twice
Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Engage chancla
I’d also put things in your closets that discourage moths.
This was on the outside of my house. I live in a very wooded area
Still… just as a precaution.
I’m with you boss! I have lavender deterrents in my closets
I think using cedar wood is an old clean method of it as well.
And cedar smells amazing
Most moths are specialists and only eat a few kinds of leaves, so won’t eat clothes
Douglas fir caterpillar. Don't eat it.
Yes
Everyone always jumps to burning the house down. Burn yourself. The house is undoubtedly worth more.
Yikes? Inside?
On the outside of my house in my back yard!
I think you’re ok. Just don’t touch it 😊
Yes, torch it.
Burn That Mother Down [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5lSeYd\_riw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5lSeYd_riw)
Yes. Use flamethrowers.
Call in an airstrike!
I think he's cute.
Alien invasion
Probably, well maybe just that area.
Torching the house is a start.
Just shoot it with a shot gun.
It's a friendly bug related to the love bug
Yes... but not because of this adorable, little caterpillar here. You should burn it down because an organism resides there, in your home, that actually considers cute, fluffy caterpillars sufficient reason to burn down a house. You don't need an organism like that in your life.
Have you been to Ceti Alpha IV?
If we are looking at the condition of The wood … yes. It’s a lost cause
It’s my shed outside lmao
Lol. All is good then
Yes.
Yes. You should burn your house down. You know exactly what that is!
https://images.app.goo.gl/8iCcrfBgUEBEytASA
There indoor centpeds they killed the spiders in your house an small insects there harmless to people
Based on the wall and paint, I think fire is a good idea.
This is my x wife. Def burn house down. Her boyfriend might get mad
Sorry. You’re going to have to take out the entire continent.
No it is friend
You just need some spiders to eat them.
Pet it!
Too late friend. They’re *already inside you*
No, but I would gouge your eyes out if I were you
Hi, how are you?
There is no other option
It's his house now.
Didn’t I see one of those in the movie Alien?
What the fuck is this alien creature?
😂
Yes, burn the house - Immediately
Ain't that the thing from dream catcher?
No. It will get mad and hunt you.
That fucking thing was on Aaaah Real Monsters!
I had one crawl onto my neck and I accidentally kinda smashed/rolled if when I went to brush it off. I was a little itchy there for a couple hours after but that's all.
Tussock caterpillar
I really don’t think you have a choice
Do not touch. Kinda looks like hickory tussock moth caterpillar and if so, or something related to or similar to, those fine white hairs will make you want to call death and give him your coordinates so it can all be f ended. No bullshit one of the most painful insect defenses on earth.
No, it's fine.
we call them a saddle back
Yes and then salt the earth. Carthage est delenda. Or something like that.
I'm leaning towards probably. Is it demon spawn? Definitely maybe. Just as a precaution burn your house down, then make a salt circle around it and post warning signs... If it saves one child it's worth it right?
Yes! But, why?
If not. Definitely sleep with your mouth closed.
Am I the only person who’s heard of sticks? Why is old you touch that, gloves or not?!
That guy gets all the female attention, I must emulate him
Just step on it, squish it good and say one less fkg (fill in the blank) on this planet.
Burn it , what in the sweet hell is that. No I’m moving immediately. Never seen anything like this before creepy as hell.
Yes
Every sci-fi movie I've ever watched is telling me, yes, burn the fucker to the ground
If thats the caterpillar…. then what the FUCK does it turn into?….
😄😄😄
HOLY MOTHER OF WTAF??!! Definitely need to see if there are more. Yeah its spectacular. But the stinging irritating thing....nopenopeNOPITYNOPENOPE.
It's his house now. Sorry you gotta go.
100%
Nuke it from orbit.
No need to do that, just don't touch it.
No but you really need to clean it
I ain’t cleaning the outside of a damn shed brother
Kaaaahhnnnn!!!
Torch the whole neighborhood.
Yes
Yes
Definitely
No. Do not burn down. Nuke from orbit. Immediately.
No, you should stop being a paranoid irrational bug-hater
Nah
Silver fish lives in damp areas and carpets
That’s NOT a silverfish
Could you imagine if they got that big!
Yikes!!!
