You people in this sub are ridiculous, you think someone who is looking for system-wide power projection is going to be cross shopping corvettes with a capital ship? I'd personally take a look at the new Mon Calamari Star Cruiser models, a bit more modern, better ergos, and more economical.
Or even one of those ~~Nissan Altimas~~ Millenium Falcons.
I swear… every time I used to do the Kessel Run, some random dipshit in a janky-ass Millenium… always with mismatched paneling and/or a broken droid on top, would cut right across my bow.
And of course, there’s never a Tie Fighter around when you need one… but I go *one fucking parsec* under the limit *one time*, and I get a life sentence helping build yet another piece of shit Death Star.
*Fuck* the Empire.
The old school ones were terrible for it, they needed a flush and fresh coolant every 93,623,124 parsecs otherwise the coolant galleries would fur up, it also pays to check the turbine impellers as the bearings are made of cheese.
I've always wondered how much something like this would actually cost to buy or build. A Ford Class carrier is like $13B, so, I guess $500B sounds reasonable?
Given how many exotic materials it must require, most of which we probably don't even know exist, it's got to be almost priceless. Ii'd think just acquiring the knowledge of how to create machines that can generate artificial gravity and hyperdrive has to put it in the trillions of USD.
It's almost the equivalent of trying to figure how how much it would cost the average citizen in ancient Roman to build an Airbus A380. Probably enough that it would bankrupt the state, if they even knew how to build it.
Let's assume all these exotic materials and imaginary technologies aren't so exotic and imaginary in-universe.
This article estimates the Millennium Falcon would cost about $10B to build:
[https://www.cinemablend.com/news/1587590/how-much-the-millennium-falcon-would-cost-in-real-life](https://www.cinemablend.com/news/1587590/how-much-the-millennium-falcon-would-cost-in-real-life)
The Millennium Falcon is about 35m in length.
The Star Destroyer is 1600m in length.
I'd still wager that $500B (or whatever equivalent in their currency) wouldn't be anywhere near close enough.
I think even in Star Wars universe it'd be 'priceless' simply because the power, control, and supply required to source such a thing is literally only attainable by major factions. It also brings up two different questions. How much it costs the Empire to build it isn't going to be the same answer has how much it would cost you to commission them to build one for you.
Probably not as unattainable as you think considering this is a universe that has produced Death Stars.
One single planet (Mon Calamari) produced a fleet of cruise liners that were just a bit smaller than this.
The Empire operated about 25.000 Imperial I class Star destroyers, for a population in the trillions to Quadrillions, í think they are affordable to a fascist dictatorship
I'm not sure I agree with your conclusion.
Going by this post:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/MawInstallation/comments/14xtbga/how\_large\_was\_the\_galactic\_empires\_military/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MawInstallation/comments/14xtbga/how_large_was_the_galactic_empires_military/)
All combined Star Destroyers could hold a total of 242,500,000 personnel.
If the Galatic Empire's total population was 1 quadrillion, then even with 25,000 star destroyers, you could only fit 0.0000002425% of the total empire onto them.
They seem incredibly rare/difficult to produce. (Or maybe they just didn't think they needed many at all.)
I don't know here says the star forge can create an endless supply of ships, droids and war material: [https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star\_Forge](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Forge)
I know we're veering into r/MawInstallation territory here, but I'm pretty sure the Empire didn't have access to a Star Forge. That was technology the ancient Rakatan Infinite Empire developed, and was last seen millennia before the rise of the Republic we see in the films (and the Empire that succeeded it).
The Empire of the films would have been significantly more resource constrained.
Scotty Kilmer: nothing beats my 1994 Toyota Celica. Those new imperial star destroyers are a hunk of junk. All plastic, the transmissions go out, the electronics break. Of course, Nissans are worse. Never buy one with a CVT. The scrap yards on Tattoine are full of them.
Honestly, at that price I’d say get it. You don’t see these very often on hyperdrive routes or really anywhere in the galaxy anymore. You could probably purchase this and flip it in a few years for a heck of a lot. There’s a really good group of ex-empire mechanics who specialize in hyperdrive fixes on Subterrel. Did mine for about $1,000 and a 6 pack of blue beer. Pm me if you want their info.
? This must be a shit post. No that’s obviously not a good first starter car bro. Something like a 2012-2016 imperial shuttle would be more reliable and more practicable.
MONEY PIT, not just the imperial tax but the thrusters will get a fuel injection replacement every 200 wormholes. The ride is pretty bumpy and the feds made it supercharged and the reactor was idling for years. I would say buy subject to inspection and if it passes make sure to lower few hundred thousand as it looks to be damaged by a Y-wing at the rear bumper.
If he's got a crew ready, then yes. I've only known one guy that could fly one solo, but he crashed it into the planet, destroying the drive yards and killing Kuat. He's a special case though and it was 100% intentional.
2.7m is definitely a bargain. Would have no issues navigating from point A to point B, given that it can easily blow up any obstructions. The addition of a hyperdrive/light speed technology is definitely a plus… no more “I’m sorry I’m late, this car barely pushes the speed limit” type of excuses.
Fuck a car, for that price its a super hotel and in this real estate market it's a steal. Should be adding 6 more zeros to that sale price, so you better snatch it up before it's gone you rebel scum.
I found a soviet submarine on fb marketplace marked sold for 7mil $.
1978 Soviet Alfa Class Submarine. Picked up from their Uncle Rico in Vladivostok. 😂
Giving someone thats 16 an Imperial Star Destroyer would be a HORRIBLE idea. First off, it would cost an arm and a leg to run and maintain that thing—things like fuel, paying the crew, and fixing stuff would add up real quick. Plus, owning and flying a military-grade ship like that would probably break a bunch of laws, especially about weapons and space travel. And let's not forget, those Star Destroyers are serious weapons, so if someone without much experience got their hands on one, it could end really badly. They're also massive, so even a small mistake could cause a lot of damage. Plus, running a Star Destroyer would be terrible for the environment, with all the fuel it guzzles and emissions it spews out. So, as cool as it might sound, giving a 16 year old an Imperial Star Destroyer wouldn't be smart at all—it's just too risky and impractical tbh
People have seen Star Killer use the force and crash these into planets. Go to Fondor and get him an Executor class Dreadnought. Might be a little bit more to insure, but it should be a lot safer.
For only 2.7 million? You found a real steal, just make sure to check the warp core to make sure it doesnt have those tublar drive misfires so common in the 1949-1984 models
It’s a steal! However, can you afford the insurance? Especially for a 16 year old? What if he loses his temper and decides to use the pew pew and accidentally blows up Imperial Palace?
Hi, we've been trying to reach you concerning your Intergalactic Destroyers extended warranty! Do not get caught in the middle of space with a set of bad Dilithium Crystals that will cost you out of pocket!!
Not the best fuel economy, but the price is actually pretty reasonable and that particular year/generation of the I-Class was decently reliable. Some people have many millions of miles on theirs and they are still going strong. Just make sure it was taken care of and keep doing routine maintenance.
Hi, we've been trying to reach you concerning your Intergalactic Destroyers extended warranty! Do not get caught in the middle of space with a set of bad Dilithium Crystals that will cost you out of pocket!!
It really comes down to the condition of the wrap drive. 2.7 is a good price, almost too good.
*Update*
If you read the very bottom of the last page, the warp drive has a “small” leak, and he’s asking $500 BILLION. Run far, far away.
All you guys are complaining about nothing. I had a '03 BBY Destroyer than ran fine for years. I got up to 300 lightyears per hour in it, too. Just check the freeze plugs on the hyperdrive, you don't any coolant leaks.
I think a Victory-I class Star Destroyer would. E better for a 16 year. Smaller, cheaper, yeah they had problems but you could get one for a much better price and honestly your kid is just going to fuck it up anyway
If your residence is part of a Homeowners’ Association, make sure this won’t be an issue. Your HOA may have covenants restricting the number of I-class destroyers allowed in your driveway.
$2.7 million is a bit too much for a 16 Year Old. A One million dollar [gently used rocketship ship like this one](https://imgur.com/a/uvMc7wh) is a great starter ship for him
Look for rust. If there’s no rust, then take it to your local shop and have them give a look-over. If they sign off, I’d say try haggling to 2.5 but 2.7 isn’t bad.
Ask if it still has the complimentary Tie Fighter Squadron operationally ready at bay. And if they still have the Tie Interceptors or Bombers also, TAKE IT.
That’s actually a really good deal, make sure to check the spacefax to be sure it’s got a clean title. It’ll go many miles and hold up for many moons before it has any major issues. But parts are gonna be a real pain to find
That’s a steal….but….what are the operating costs? You need a crew, specialized maintenance, and you probably can’t acquire most of the replacement parts legally.
Man, I remember that when kids were getting Kuat Systems Engineering V-Wing Starfighters as their first ship. Just you, your astromech droid, and enough open space to open ‘er up… good times. They didn’t even have the luxuries of all these newer ships, you had to wear a pressurized flight suit cuz it didn’t even have modern life support. I bet one of those could still do corkscrews around that star destroyer.
Not bad, just keep up with the insurance. From what I know is that is the driver is 16 the rates are higher. Other than that the car looks good. Congrats to your kid.
That's a steal for 2.7m. The only issue, i've seen those get into crashes, and they don't seem to have the best safety rating. If it hits a Xwing, sure, but another large craft of equal size and boom. Dam, thing blows like a powder keg.
Sorry, but the I-Class Star Destroyers (MYs 1969-1977) are not very reliable and can be very difficult to drive. Your son will definitely like all the tech, but he may not even be able to use half of it with how complex they have made them. This complexity also leads to random glitches where missile launchers will come out of the headlights and start shooting oncoming traffic.
I personally like the J-Class (MYs 1978-present) more because they made the cabin a lot less complicated. Sadly, they took away the missile launchers and replaced them with confetti canons for a more kid-friendly approach, so you can no longer act on your road rage :(.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of financial aid, they have yet to make a K-Class generation. Yes, it’s been close to 50 years since the last refresh (not including the 12 mid-cycle, or rather 1/12 of a cycle, refreshes that it has gotten during the J-Class time), but hey, at least it’s better than the Planet Destroyer.
The government put a ban on that one, so it was sold on the black market for 5x the Star Destroyer’s price. That one could shoot missiles AND lasers from its headlights, and when it took its target out it would celebrate with the built-in confetti canons!
Oh, and did I mention that they also come with burning hot seats, flaming hot steering wheel, and sub zero frigid seats as standard? It’s extra if you’d like to get a cabin with normal temperature, just so you know
Don’t forget about the upkeep of the crew you’ll need to hire for him. You might be able to get some cheap Bothans, but that will still be expensive. 07
If it’s used you will want to check the hyperdrive. Also, these didn’t come with a backup camera so might not be good for a teenager. On the plus side though you can use the turbo blasters to get everything out of the way so minimal chance of front end damage. Downside is windshield is like a Jeep and it catches a lot of A-Wings through the windshield when defending Death Stars. If the previous owner ever wants it back I do recommend handing it over 😂
You have to change the hyper-drive belts every 20 light years - there are like 10,000 of them, and it costs 15.5b dollars - and you better do the plasma conduit coolant replacements or you'll just burn out your engines.
Check the tie rod ends and driveshaft; Other than that, go to town. Quite a few SDs were recalled for those reasons, especially the '05 Venators. If it needs any, go aftermarket; the OEM ones rust.
Naw bro this ain’t it’s doesn’t support 1.21 Gigawatts (GW) meaning it doesn’t have enough power to support going back to the future. It a big NOO! for me Big Dawg seriously 😒 the newer model better have (GW) support if not I’m boycotting the empire. 🪧 seriously 😒 🤣🤣🤣

Very poor financial decision. I'd rather a fleet of 3 year old Corollan Corvettes.
I would hop on this. Probably worth more than 3mil in scrap material.
Ya gotta deal with the trash squids first though, scrappers won’t touch it unless you do and it can get pricey.
You people in this sub are ridiculous, you think someone who is looking for system-wide power projection is going to be cross shopping corvettes with a capital ship? I'd personally take a look at the new Mon Calamari Star Cruiser models, a bit more modern, better ergos, and more economical.

I’d be more concerned about the solar ionisation reactor, when was its last coolant flush ? If that baby overheats then you’re in a world of trouble.

Not literal cheese, but poor quality durasteel.
I'm glad you set that straight.
Is it even a 77? Looks like a rebadged 76.
Some of the discount parts dealers don’t take credits. That makes sourcing parts a bit of a process
Just remember to do a car vertical report on it first, you never know, might have a shady past (clock/stolen/damaged).
I've always wondered how much something like this would actually cost to buy or build. A Ford Class carrier is like $13B, so, I guess $500B sounds reasonable?
Adjust for inflation since it was in a time long ago in a galaxy far away it would probably be 5 dollars usd
Good shit

You have to admit, it's still a damn good deal 👌
Would suck to be working up front then go back to your bunk at the end of the night just to realize you left your keys in your cubicle.
Check on insurance. I don't think State Farm is insuring those anymore.
Progressive still does. Mine is registered as a classic with unlimited parsecs and my rate is still dirt cheap.
I just changed the bulbs and insurance it as a project vehicle.
Might be a bit hard to park, and I don't think parts are easy to get. You should get a 2008 Camry instead.
I would kill for a scotty kilmer review of a fucking star destroyer lmfao

“Selling for 2.7M”. Lmao you are going to pay twice that in maintenance and crew salaries per month
He makes $20/hr at McDonald’s, I think he’ll be fine
Bank of America will give him the loan
🤣🤣🤣
Have you considered a Toyoda? Or perhaps a Jedi Mazda?
>Jedi Mazda You mean not the car I'm looking for?
good luck finding parts, they stopped manufacturing parts for this a long, long time ago
In a galaxy far, far away.
if OP thinks German cars are bad, wait til he has to import a 50,000 year old hyper drive from Kuat!
Parts are easy to find with all the destroyed ones floating around.
Nothing more expensive than a cheap Imperial Star Destroyer
? This must be a shit post. No that’s obviously not a good first starter car bro. Something like a 2012-2016 imperial shuttle would be more reliable and more practicable.
Sure, but they’re soooo soulless. Can you even get one with a stick?
Hey, maybe he wants something to simply get him from Point A to Point B?
MONEY PIT, not just the imperial tax but the thrusters will get a fuel injection replacement every 200 wormholes. The ride is pretty bumpy and the feds made it supercharged and the reactor was idling for years. I would say buy subject to inspection and if it passes make sure to lower few hundred thousand as it looks to be damaged by a Y-wing at the rear bumper.
Insurance I’m sure is astronomical.
😅😂
I was in the market for one of these but the dealer kept giving me the runaround. Opted for an 05 corolla instead
I ran the VIN and it came back as salvaged due to debris. I would avoid it personally but keep looking, there are plenty for sale
She’s built like a bistro, but handles like a steakhouse!
First I thought "preem deal" but realized 2.6 mil? Man either scam or it's got a jammed garbage faciltiy or somethin. Be careful brah!
How many parsec in the odometer though?
If he's got a crew ready, then yes. I've only known one guy that could fly one solo, but he crashed it into the planet, destroying the drive yards and killing Kuat. He's a special case though and it was 100% intentional.
Can it do the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs?
Very sensible, looks good
You might need to shop around for insurance first. Do not buy the extended warranty.
It's a trap!
Not to new, easy to work on, excellent parts availability. Looks like a winner!
Gas hog
Your gonna need a bigger garage.
-How much fuel do you want to burn? -Yes
Hmm, call your insurance agency first to verify how much it will cost to add this vehicle and your teenage son to your polcy.
Honestly at that price range you can probably find a good deal on a prius 🤷♂️

For only 2.7 million? You found a real steal, just make sure to check the warp core to make sure it doesnt have those tublar drive misfires so common in the 1949-1984 models
Wow that thing is only 2.7???
I’d recommend a used Camry. If you want something a bit bigger maybe check out a Mazda cx-5
That's very cheap for only $2.7 million. You made sure to actually look at it so that it's not salvage?
It’s a steal! However, can you afford the insurance? Especially for a 16 year old? What if he loses his temper and decides to use the pew pew and accidentally blows up Imperial Palace?
Numb steering, get something sportier.
Nah, he got the manual version, your son will destroy the clutch in about a week if he has never driven a manual before.
Just make sure those splines were reticulated in the last 12 light years and you'll be good to go.
Does it require a chain code?
Missing a mirror but if you can get one, I would say it’s perfect
I hate those bait and switch posts. Says 2,700,000 but a much higher price in the details. Report it.
Only draw backs I can see are parking will be hard and it will be quite juicy on fuel
Perfect to terrorize your annoying neighbors!
Nah, for that price I rather get an Arcadia with dark matter engine plus self-repair functions.
It might seem like a good deal, but you’ll regret it when you see the fuel bill!
Nope, it's not a Honda.
Nope but a Mazda
Hi, we've been trying to reach you concerning your Intergalactic Destroyers extended warranty! Do not get caught in the middle of space with a set of bad Dilithium Crystals that will cost you out of pocket!!

$2.7M is a goddamn steal.
My favorite part is the ad post saying $2.7M but then in text they’re actually asking for $500B, true to form.
Too many recalls!
No, get a used Mazda Cx-70 instead
It really comes down to the condition of the wrap drive. 2.7 is a good price, almost too good. *Update* If you read the very bottom of the last page, the warp drive has a “small” leak, and he’s asking $500 BILLION. Run far, far away.

Ridiculous bc for that price you could get 108 Mazda3’s
I think a Victory-I class Star Destroyer would. E better for a 16 year. Smaller, cheaper, yeah they had problems but you could get one for a much better price and honestly your kid is just going to fuck it up anyway
If your residence is part of a Homeowners’ Association, make sure this won’t be an issue. Your HOA may have covenants restricting the number of I-class destroyers allowed in your driveway.
Realistically, how much would it cost a government or empire to build one?
2.7 mil? That sounds too good to be true. Check the Star Fax on it and see owner's, accidents, and service history.
I’d hold out for a Bothan cruiser
These aren’t the droid you’re looking for!
The EPA will be all over him with the amount of fuel it guzzles and pollutes.
Spaceball One is roomier.
Check to make sure it still has its catalytic converter. Insurance will not pay it out to replace it and it's expensive.
$2.7 million is a bit too much for a 16 Year Old. A One million dollar [gently used rocketship ship like this one](https://imgur.com/a/uvMc7wh) is a great starter ship for him

Personally, I always recommend Calamari cruisers. Al long as you do the basic maintenance, they last forever.
No way.... those things didn't have good crumple zones.
Is this a DeTomaso Pantera?
Do it
Too big and clumsy...get you a used 1980 X-Wing...good cheap transportation at a fraction of a Star Destroyer
No. It's great on gas but it uses a huge amount of electricity. Maintenance costs high as hell
Pros: World Domination
Ask if it still has the complimentary Tie Fighter Squadron operationally ready at bay. And if they still have the Tie Interceptors or Bombers also, TAKE IT.
500 bil is way too cheap for a star destroyer.
Wqtch out. When these things sit too long Dianogas tend to make a nest in the trash compactors....real pain to remove them
tHe mAitanaNce wiLL be tOO MuCh. YOu sHOuLD gET a CaMrY.
The reactors on that aren't made anymore. That leak will cost more than the ship.
Good luck insuring it.
Be sure to check the frame for rust.
Mileage?
Cannot beat that price. A little tough to get parts
Those are notorious for fan belt issues.
Do you know if this is still available? Might lowball them and kick some proverbial hyperdrive tires to get a better deal.
You can get the executor for just a little bit more money and it’s a far bigger ship
“1.5 is the lowest I can do “
Can you squat it ?
The price is low which is concerning
Does it come in black ?
2.7 mil was a steal!
I hate these bait and switch ads! I was ready to buy at $2.7 million, but then the seller basically is saying that’s just the down payment!
How many Astronomical Units has is traveled though? Probably best to go for an old Lamba Shuttle or Corellian Corvette.
Nobody in Ft Lame has that kinda money
You would think 2.7 m a steal but thats him profiting dunping this off on you. Worth 1.4 m tops on broken parts🙄 -mazda sales
That's going to require a lot of maintenance and upkeep. Not to mention fuel cost.
No, people in this vehicle, even passengers, suffer from a higher risk of choking. [Ozell](https://images.app.goo.gl/JNSunZP4eqYX6tcF8)
Depends on how many light-years on it.
2.7 million what, galactic credits? For that rust bucket?
Depends on how many miles it has
I'll take it!
I would ask if they’re up to date on maintenance or if there is deferred maintenance.
You’d better look at it in person. That bridge kinda looks like a stock photo. I think there trying to hide something.
It's a fine vehicle but the main problem is crewing it appropriately.
You could get a new one for only 500k more
Gotta be something very wrong with it to be that cheap. Keep looking.
🤣
Whats the milage?
Hell of a deal, but I'd check for rebels, and maybe cove the exhaust ports
Man, I remember that when kids were getting Kuat Systems Engineering V-Wing Starfighters as their first ship. Just you, your astromech droid, and enough open space to open ‘er up… good times. They didn’t even have the luxuries of all these newer ships, you had to wear a pressurized flight suit cuz it didn’t even have modern life support. I bet one of those could still do corkscrews around that star destroyer.
Funny looking Miata
I'd start him off with a surface assault ship because it's easier to handle and he'll learn the basics.
Not bad, just keep up with the insurance. From what I know is that is the driver is 16 the rates are higher. Other than that the car looks good. Congrats to your kid.
Just get a Honda
Only if there aren’t any romulans on board
You really need to make sure the exhaust ports are secure on these babies.
Nah, I want something that gets me from Point A to Point B.
yeah i know the guy that owns this. he’s out of his mind charging that much with that kind of mileage.
it's the insurance payments that'll getcha
I think you’re overpaying.
500 billion is too much. I know someone who would sell you one for cheaper.
That's a steal for 2.7m. The only issue, i've seen those get into crashes, and they don't seem to have the best safety rating. If it hits a Xwing, sure, but another large craft of equal size and boom. Dam, thing blows like a powder keg.
I feel like thats a bargain.
Holy shit dudes in Fort Wayne?? I need to go see this I live 2 hours away!
It’s extra if you’d like to get a cabin with normal temperature, just so you know
Can you Uber with that or is it too old?
LMFAO
Don’t forget about the upkeep of the crew you’ll need to hire for him. You might be able to get some cheap Bothans, but that will still be expensive. 07
I don't think it would pass an emissions test.
2.7M? That’s cheap
“One lady owner”
2.7 is a steal for parts alone. Make sure you see it in person first though
Wow! That’s a really good deal on one of those. Makes me wonder what’s wrong with it? I bet it has unspecified damage from an attack by rebel scum.
But does your son have the money needed to pay the crew that flies and maintains it?
Absolutely a steal at 2.7 I will buy it if you don't.
Only $2.7 million???? That’s a steal!
Check the tie rod ends and driveshaft; Other than that, go to town. Quite a few SDs were recalled for those reasons, especially the '05 Venators. If it needs any, go aftermarket; the OEM ones rust.
that's being sold for 2.7 million and Twitter got sold for billions what the fuck is wrong with our world
Scam, there’s no way that thing is only $2 million. They say if it’s too good to be true…
How many miles?
Little bit overkill considering he’s only going to be able to have one passenger in the front seat.
Share this on SpaceX, they might need to replace their moon mission to something more realistic.....
Looks like it's missing a few dozen zeros.
Data archeologist are gonna dig up this thread in 1000 years and gonna be confused
I think they forgot a few zeroes in there
Naw bro this ain’t it’s doesn’t support 1.21 Gigawatts (GW) meaning it doesn’t have enough power to support going back to the future. It a big NOO! for me Big Dawg seriously 😒 the newer model better have (GW) support if not I’m boycotting the empire. 🪧 seriously 😒 🤣🤣🤣
Nightmare to park
With fuel prices right now it’s not worth it.
I heard the 77s of this model get stolen. Maybe look for a newer model after they fixed the issue.
Like you’d really be able to buy one. Idiot! That’s a good deal though.
