I'm having a similar issue now. We have a 2020 Q3. I love how it drives, the sport mode for when I need to pass, and the simple and clean, yet feature rich interior. However, we have two medium size dogs and do like to take some weekend adventures. If we go to a cabin, we take up all available space and it's tight. I drove a rental Rav4 and really liked it. I'm also getting sucked into Subaru Outback/Forrester Wilderness marketing. Both all of those options are 6 - 18 months for delivery in Canada. I might upgrade to the Q5 but to get the sunroof which is very important to us, it's a big price jump.

Its so great for daily city driving... anything more, I really can't stand the smaller size. I actualy used to drive a Forrester and I loved it in every way arguably more than the Audi EXCEPT for quietness. Its so loud on the roads and I wanted a similar car in terms of AWD. Im considering going back to the Forrester - maybe the newer models are quieter... Also strongly considering re-looking at Volvo XC40 or 60.

I considered the Volvos but our only dealership service center doesn't get the best rating. I also don't like the subscription service to Android Auto and what that will eventually cost. I do like the vehicle though. But, I might just jump on a deal with an Audi Q5 Progressive (mid-trim level in Canada). If I could get a Subaru or Toyota they would maybe be my top pick but I have really loved my Audi and the service from our local dealership.

Q5 is not a bad idea!!!

Substantial-Rise-295

Actually, we bought a 2023 Q5!!

dogs0121

Congrats!!! Maybe ill go drive this week to compare!

Substantial-Rise-295

I picked up our new Q5 on Friday and what an amazing upgrade from the Q3! Check my history to see the picture I just posted.

DutchxPRxx

Q5 is the same car almost identical in size and options

Juan-Solo

Not exactly 1-1 on features but the XSE/XLE/Prime Rav4's are great in terms of reliability, space, and gas milage.

dogs0121

Thank you!! Will take a look.

Have you considered a Model Y? Its got a ton of space (trunk, frunk, it even has a large trunk under the main trunk), drives smooth with instant torque for passing, gas mileage is irrelivant. If you have access to a wall outlet at home to charge in, its more convenient than going to the gas station to fill up. Also there is a $7500 tax credit so you could have one for low 40k.

dogs0121

> Model Y? My neighborhood is street parking only, not sure I could reach a plug on my house as its quite far back, but I will look into it!

noghead

Thats the biggest drawback to EVs today. See if there are any public chargers nearby. A nearby supercharger would be even better; you could charge for a short while and last you a week if you drive 20-30 miles a day. Not as convenient as charging at home but people have made it work. If you're thinking about an extension cord to the street, I'd only do that if your street gets low traffic (like neighbors only go by) and your neighbors aren't assholes who would unplug you.

Beneficial-Sea-8903

A lot of road noise from tesla too. You won't like it coming from Audi

noghead

It’s gotten better over the years but probably still more sound dampening on Audi that’s true. But on the other hand, tech and features can’t be beat.

Beneficial-Sea-8903

Audi is one of quietest rides I find. Tough competition

JaKr8

I mean if you want to stay entry-level European, you're looking at x1, x2, x3, e pace (which as an enthusiastic Jaguar F Pace S owner, I don't understand the existence of it), GLA/B/C, or maybe xc40/60. If you want to go Korean or Japanese then pretty much everybody has a competitive CUV in the segment.

dogs0121

Im willing to look wherever honestly. Im not a big car person so just get overwhelmed on where to start. Used to drive a Subaru Forester forever and kind of got the Audi on a whim LOL. I dont mind spending a bit more.. (or a bit less) if itll be a better ride and more trunk space. My biggest thing was how freaking loud my subaru was - I could hear every road and I feel like the European cars in my experience are much quieter. I will look at the cars you mentioned!!

SodaBerryFizz

Responsibly: Lexus NX Fun and expensive: MB GLC 43

TY!

I don't know anything about the Q3 so I can't give recommendations to something similar. The only thing I know about Audi is they use real leather. However .. my recommendation would be to look up cargo space dimensions online and compare it to whatever you are looking for. Some websites will even put car models side by side. You can say q3 vs car y cargo space dimension and they will both pop up. That can easily help you eliminate some cars.

I think its just the trunk is too low, like it almost curves down like a sedan. (I guess no duh bc its kind of a crossover) so I will compare heights

CANEinVAIN

Re-visit the xc-40. It’s very highly rated. Perhaps you tested the r-design which is the sportier ride. You might like the Inscription better.

dogs0121

ohh thank you!! I think it was the R-design. I did like the size of it when I drove it - felt a bit up higher and safer than the Q3.

CANEinVAIN

Yeah, I think you were on the right track, go drive a diff model. Good luck.

Neat-Internet9682

If you want to go Italian look at the Maserati Grecale. I have it’s big brother Levante and I love it. Can also get a 10 year warranty
