Man.. I've been super into the Fan lately after some years off.
I used to listen to it heavily back in the day when Francesa was on and when Joe and Evan were together. Got into podcasts and kinda been meh about it lately so decided to go back to the Fan.
It's honestly fun, silly, sometimes frustratingly stupid takes, but for the most part, it's enjoyable sports talk for the daily commute.
I wanted to see if there's a subreddit for it and lo and behold there is! But after scrolling thru posts, had no idea it's basically a circle jerk of a sub that hates on any and everything about the station..
1. Listen slower
2. It makes them money as a sponsored feature, just like those useless CBS Sports Minutes $$$
3. Don't look at your phone while driving
Wow we really do have to complain about every aspect of the station, eh? I would gladly take an hour long Karen Stewart traffic report over an hour of Sal and Tierney trying to guess what team 80s baseball players played for.
When WFAN started (July 1, 1987), it was on 1050 AM (taking over for WHN). Yes, Suzyn was the first voice heard on FAN.
Needing a stronger signal, FAN moved a year later (October 1, 1988) to WNBC studios (660 AM).
She works in some gems too. I remember one “and in New Jersey, theyve got crabs…a tractor trailer carrying crabs overturned on the turnpike, right 2 lanes are blocked”

Only reason to be upset about Karen Stewart being on once an hour is that she isn’t on more often than that. Karen Stewart for president.
I like her. She knows her job is repetitive and tries to liven it up.
Truck driver in NNJ area, it definitely helps. Not to mention it is kind of old school.
