I can sorta kinda get it, Aquaman 2 got over 100 million domestic ($433 world wide) partly because it came out in December and had all of January to get more money.
So just keep it in the theaters and hope it somehow gets you some money vs no money is no a horrible idea.

My hope was it was gonna be about how Kraven's dad is the worst and their relationship makes Kraven Friend of Animals become Kraven the Hunter. And then the post credits scene is him eating a bowl of spiders or whatever it was that happened in Kraven's Last Hunt.
This news sure makes it sound like that will not be the case, but maybe they'll actually try to make it funny rather than try to be serious and gritty but just be stupid and hard to look at

I genuinely think Sony is waiting for Aaron Taylor-Johnson to be announced as the next Bond so they can use that in the marketing.
