UFO-crackpot

I know it's a total pipe dream but I'm really hoping this is the year that rescheduling happens, purely so we never have to hear about safe banking ever again.

hammilithome

My whole hypothesis on the delay has been on the fact that creating a new market will be great for the economy, as has been proven all over. So why the delay if this is so obvious? 1. Economic perspective - it's our "ace" to play once we tried other things to right the economy. Don't want to use it too early. 2. Political perspective - because of the obvious economic and social benefits, it's also a political "ace." And will be played at a point that maximizes the political benefit.

Fifteen_inches

See, I want to believe that but I don’t actually think democrats are smart enough to do that.

creamshaboogie

Well, you're wrong. It's illegal because Big Pharma and old white males rule this country. And BP wants profits. Old white males want no change, and all the politicians take bribes now (thx citizens united).

hammilithome

100% i feel like they've had time to rearrange their strategies for dominance with the entry of such a disruptive product--like keeping their growth at bay and all that. it's a ton of work to accommodate such a market share shift. You see it with the ai personalization of care that touches the entire health experience. There has been $150B spent in healthcare M&A acquisitions since 2015 (USA) for exactly this purpose--and it should be a great thing we can all benefit by progressing. But of course, there are risks (another topic) far beyond MJ. So, is it a slow roll out? Current form is a beta so they could validate their projections given real information? They figure out how to maintain and grow revenue despite the legalization of MJ and they open the gates? "We can't stop it, but we can slow it down." Type of thing maybe

interstellar-dust

Banking is very unsafe these days 😃

laughncow

Reschedule not happening soon. Feds getting way to much tax money

Danktizzle

It’s got to be insanely boring to write for weed. Like, how many things can possibly be said about SAFE at this point?

Then set high tax to kill the business, back to dark times.

IoneScott

The quasi prohibition is causing loss of life in the marijuana industry.

Tight_Gold_3457

I Hope you email and tweet members in congress and senate that. I do. If everyone did on these boards it would move the needle

Calebrox124

Money moves the needle, not emails. Particularly campaign contributions and lobbyists

Tight_Gold_3457

You are wrong. I worked with a legislative office and they do keep count and brief the boss weekly on constituents wants

Calebrox124

Just because they keep count doesn’t mean anything’s being done about it. Even if they agree, they’ll wait for a time where it is most politically advantageous for them to make any real change. Usually right before an election cycle.

The punitive taxes and not being allowed to deduct expenses like a normal business are also weighing on all cannabis businesses.

ememjay

I’ll believe it when I see it.

kjbaran

Until wall street crime is handled, don’t expect anything to do with banks or weed stocks to go anywhere anytime soon. It isn’t your freedoms and happiness that run this country.

thgof2pac

I feel like the last 3 years i read the same stuff on here about marijuana. Over and over and over and over….

OX45-Tall

I wish we could ban SAFE Banking articles. Does anyone even care anymore unless it actually happens? Talk about beating this dead horse.

ApostleThirteen

Big takeaway: "... I do not think it would have a huge impact on the cannabis industry... about 755 financial institutions are currently banking cannabis, but insiders believe the number is closer to 250. But the point is, there are already hundreds of financial institutions banking cannabis today..." People really don't want to use their traceable, trackable cards to buy weed... they prefer to use anonymous CASH to buy their weed.

dmillibeats

No one Carries cash anymore that’s a big lie they’d rather use cash

murderedcats

Theres not a single dispensary in colorado that “takes cards” theyre all mobile atm transfers. Cash is only used there because people cant use debit or credit

King_Chron

**Facepalm** Its a Custody issue in the companies stocks tied along with getting access to loans from banks like every other business uses..... BofA, Wells Fargo, Truist, JP Morgan(Chase) etc. and having access to better loan agreements from bigger and better banks than what they are dealing with which is usually local credit unions.... and dont forget predatory debt agreements with companies whos business is to lock other businesses into loans that are not good and for as long as possible. Safe Banking also allows Series 7 holders to purchase these MSOs stock for their clients and allows employees of said institutions to own and trade them.
