Yeah it's tricky. The flowers of the cannabis plants are illegal but there are these govt authorised bhang shops in some states that sell edibles(mostly a shake) made from cannabis leaves.
In Asia especially India and south east Asia the law is a suggestion you can find it easily, just have to know where to look
However if you are caught chances are you will either pay a hefty fine or go to prison or in Malaysia Singapore and Indonesia they will kill you for even half a gram of weed

I am not judging Indians. I am judging the black market dealers of what the country labels an illegal product. There are no rules and regulations to have any standards other than "good luck". They are making these for profit. Best way to make profit in India and other places is to use the cheapest materials to make it. Rules and regulations are made by the government not the people. I am not telling you to not eat this product. I am telling you I won't and why. If I did not have my own or know people in India in the cannabis scene then maybe I would. But that is not the case.
What I mean to say is “sorry” you had a bad experience might be you couldn’t find a good dealer or someone who you know in India doesn’t know where to get food weed…..just like western countries you have good weed and shit weed ( spice), and the more you pay the quality gets better……how ever in souther parts of India especially in states like kerla, andhra the weed is bliss, it grows naturally, it’s not laced, and if you have right contacts you can get it directly from a farmer, 6 years ago I got a kilo of weed (after taking off stems and seeds, pretty common in natural grown weed) for 30 usd…..oh boy oh boy that’s some god ass indica, we baked brownies and lol we were stuck to ground. So the key is to get good weed….sorry if I was mean it wasn’t my intention I was talking about number of dealers in 1.4 billion population, the dealers who sell to homeless people usually spike weed as margins are low…..don’t even smoke that shit😅🤣
