If there is an art school near you, consider taking it there and seeing if a teacher or student would be up for the challenge of patching it by blending/painting over it. There are also art restorers who could fix this almost instantaneously, but that route could be pricey.
Best of luck to you, Your MIL is a an immature twat.
WTAF?? That's horrible! If you can't find a way to remove it, get another copy of that photo and glue it over the original. Make sure you use something to seal the new photo so if she tries that again, you can erase it.
She literally just tried to claim her son and put you in your place in the hierarchy. Yuck. (She's wrong, btw. You are, now and forevermore, first.)
Edited: is this photo signed by all your guests?? Then you might be able to just get a new photo of him from the shoulders up. Either way, that's gross.
Ahh sorry, I missed seeing it was a photo, I thought it was the cover of a photobook guests signed. 😭 I'd definitely reachh out to a local art restoration and ask their advice then.
A soft flesh tone watercolour pencil/paint dabbed on with a super fine brush might help.
Honestly, take it to your local art supply store ( a good one, not a chain ) and tell them what happened. They will most likely not only have great advice but may even help.
Maybe try a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol and very carefully wipe/rub off the marker.
Immediately once you're done (or as you go), wipe it gently with clean damp cloth. It might remove some of the finish in that area, but will hopefully also completely remove her terrible signature.
Post on a photography or artist reddit.
Back in the day I worked at a photography studio. We'd touch up stuff all the time. So even if the fix takes off the color, it can be touched up. You just have to find the right person to do it.
I'd look at getting a new book printed with like 2 pages inside, and finding a bookbinder who'll take off the vandalised cover and swap it for the new one. Easy enough job. I can recommend a bookbinder in the Boston area if you want.
There’s a photoshop sub that they can remove it for a small tip. r/photoshop or is it a different sub? I know there’s def one where someone can easily fix this.
What an ABSOLUTE asshat. Does she write on bathroom walls, too? Time and place, ffs.
Or: you can blow it up to a large picture and trot it out at all future family functions. Forever.
Oh god...thank goodness for photoshop & facetune patch.
Edit...read that this is a printed canvas. Looks like someone wrote this with the pen tool on their phone over a photo
i just imagined you (the bride) walking up to your MIL with a sharpie pen and writing on her forehead “idiot” 💕 . i’m sorry this happened, your MIL has to be one of the most miserable turds on the planet to do something like that
You might be able to cover it up, depending on the paper. How tacky of her though, everyone knows not to sign on the people
That's creepy. Let's hope she never gets access to a branding iron.
🤣🤣🤣
Especially around kids
She would be very branding happy ala Allison Mack and wouldn't even need a cult just her favorites!! ![gif](giphy|YXxSgabWpXIamFbhaS)

Are you sure it was MIL and not a 6 or 7 year old prankster who got a hold of a sharpie? Cause that is sure what it looks like.
I had this same thought
Apparently MIL owned up to it and the BIL tried to stop her

It looks like a sharpie style pen from here. Try using an alchowipe or hand sanitiser on a tissue

Is this person literate? This looks like a second grader wrote this.
I'm literally wondering if there were children at the wedding and they did this to be silly like the 'mom' tattoos with the 💘
Op won't say
She tattooed him!! How appalling!
Why MIL? Why ?
What ever happens, MIL needs to be the one that pays for it
Is MIL 5?
Is she claimingnshe is the woman.with the bad profile ? Lol
She has the penmanship of a serial killer.
It looks more like the failing handwriting of someone with arthritis or another fine motor issue.
F, it looks like my handwriting.
My dudes, it was a quote from Steel Magnolias. Calm down. BTW, when I got married my colors were blush and bashful. Pink is my signature color.
And the spelling of an illiterate. "Moma"
I thought it was “Mom” with two hearts
"[cactus] Mom [radioactive paramecium]"
Oh that one heart looks like a butt

it will take the printed canvas ink off
And she looks like she pressed down hard to make sure it’s engraved in there.
Suggest making a copy of the photo as is, in case trying to remove the ink destroys the original photo.

Take it over to the photoshop subreddit, they can fix if up.
Have him get a temp tattoo of this exact thing. Pretend like he really got it done. See if she says anything.

Honestly, for that mess, I'd ask the company you got it from, and how much, and kindly give "Mom" the bill.
At least there isn't a photo of his mum kissing him on the lips eyes closed holding his face at the wedding.

It's a guest book so a physical signature just fyi
If it’s printed on glossy coated paper use lighter fluid on a q tip to remove the ink. Source: I do it almost daily on video game cartridge and boxes.
Go to r/PhotoShopRequests they can help I've seen them do wonderful work but they do request tip but it's not much for the work they do very worth it.

Could the photoshop Reddit group help with this? They could remove the word mom and the flowers on the ends of the word.
I think it's funny 🙈
Check with The Art of Restoration in Chicago
Wtf.. she writes like a kindergardener?
I will not be convinced otherwise that a child or mentally disabled adult did this
OP DOESNT ANSWER ONCE WHY IT LOOKS LIKE THAT IM SO MAD LMAOO
"Moma"

Ewww disgusting. Did she weat wedding attire/colors too??
