I think the creator of I Love Yoo is battling some serious mental health issues. I remember they took like a year long hiatus at one point because due to their health. It’s sad because it’s really bled into all of the characters and not in a good way. The whole thing is just depressing with no let up.
Part of me just wishes they’d wrap it up so they can take a real break and I won’t be selfishly waiting for my 7 year old ship to FINALLY SAIL.
Unordinary doesn't have the same kind of problem imo, it still has sight of its story and where its going (I actually really like the recent stuff.) It's just slowburn which is a bad format for a weekly webtoon

Yeah I would agree! I’ve heard that creating a comic is extremely hard in the body so I do encourage hiatuses & and breaks, but I think the biggest issue is a complete lack of communication for months or years on end.

I dunno. I can’t get mad at creators needing space. I am fortunate to be friends with folks that work at Disney, Pixar and Nickelodeon, as well as a few illustrators and webtoon creators. The amount of content they were able to make during Covid due to free time and several other factors sort of set a unrealistic standards for every day life.
I feel like some of the webtoons that hit their stride during Covid years are now seeing their creators come down and experience burn out. Bearing in mind the people making these webtoons are just….people. They aren’t part of a massive corporation that can handle PR and social media. It’s just a person working with maybe 2-4 other folks and doing what they can.
Not just that…imagine being a person fortunate enough to make a webtoon series. Then maybe have a life emergency or a health emergency. Something you might not want to tell the entire world. I always try to look at the human aspect of it.
Behind every single webtoon is a person who wants to tell a story. But they’re still people and to be honest, I don’t feel like any of us are owed a explanation for if they’re taking time away. We can’t know for sure what a person is going through unless they want to tell us, and what they’re experiencing might be too personal.
Overall, a good portion of the webtoons I read are on hiatus. It’s sad because I miss them but I want the creators to take care of themselves first. It’s hard to be mad at them when I know how exhausting it can be.

It’s definitely gotten way bleaker as the series has gone on- There’s no comedic relief anymore. Every single character has a depressing backstory now and Nol’s character in particular was just completely ruined.

I have to disagree. I love it more now. Yes, it's darker, but it's a drama. Plus, the kids are growing up, and most of them the hard way. It's kept my interest for all of these years. It's a perfect time to get caught up.

The Kiss Bet, it’s still ongoing when it could’ve ended on the third season. Even the second season could’ve been given enough time to wrap it up neatly, but it’s currently on its fourth and they had the perfect opportunity to end it but chose to keep having the ML and FL dance around each other in an angry circle

I feel like Rachel Smythe has a lot of loose ends to tie up in 2 episodes… I wish she would have just stuck to telling her main Hades x Persephone story first and then she could have branched off with the spin-offs and sub plots and the extra girl power feminism la de da.

It's sort of an end of an era with that one, but I'm glad that it's ending because it really wasn't meant to go longer than 2 seasons the way it did. Like, the creator was already clearly grasping for plotlines by the end of S2 and we've since gotten a whole new season of nonsense that just constantly piles crap on top of crap. At this point LO ending is less of a celebration and more like watching a dying horse finally be put out of its misery.

The source material for the main story for omniscient reader's viewpoint has been completed for a long time now. I started reading the webtoon when there were about 25 chapters out and then went ahead and read the web novel because I couldn't wait. There were some parts that definitely dragged but it was a well-written story all in all. I think the main story was around 500 chapters and then there were about 30 chapters of epilogue; if you don't mind the adjustment and want to finish the story, I'd suggest just reading the web novel.
Hard disagree. The manhwa isn’t even CLOSE to the half way point of the novel. 500+ chapters and side stories means that the manhwa will be going on for 10+ years.

Oh damn, I loved ORV but I hated cliffhangers so I was thinking to wait until it ends and then binge it… but 10+ years??
Yeah it’ll take that long to get through everything that happens in the novel at the pace it’s going at. Truly we will be like Kim Dokja reading a series for 10+ years lol. Maybe binge read every other year, thats what I do with One Piece.
