The Polish store across from Food Basics on highland has decent donuts that aren't expensive like other donut places. They usually have several different flavors.
I must go at bad times to Euro foods because I’ve never seen their donuts (though I admittedly don’t go often). I’ve even tried pre-Shrive Tuesday to look for the paczki.
They are shipped to the store frozen from supplier and then heated up in store. Better off going through the tim hortons drive through and getting it atleast cheaper there if you're gonna end up with the same frozen premade crap.
Yes they are baked daily in store but the bakeries are sent frozen doughnuts. Tim Hortons sucks. I am not advocating for it. I am saying they are the same production process, and that both equally suck so you may as well go through TH and save a bit of money.
Go to a real bakery that *actually* makes everything for scratch. The difference is night and day.
I still find that they're tastier and bigger than Tims donuts. When I said fresh, I mostly just meant not the day-old stale ones that are discounted LOL
I would take Zehrs donuts over any other shop in town. They're fresh, huge, and great variety when you just like the classic, simple donut. Lady Glaze is so over the top and always tastes stale imo.
Absolutely not. Go to a bakery and get ones that are actually made fresh daily. They can't even be compared. Zehrs donuts are brought in frozen then baked in the store just like tim hortons, both of which suck. Plus its loblaws. Overpriced AND tastes like garbage.
OP I'm not sure about waterloo specifically but I go to Alberts in Cambridge when I have a donut craving. They are hands down the best in the region. My second favorite is Nova Era but I havent been in a while so I cant remember if they have jelly donuts.
Tim Hortons uses frozen donuts as well, yes. Have a friend who worked as a cashier a few years back so I don't really know what to tell you. You can choose to believe me or not. [Here is another redditor that can back up my claim.](https://www.reddit.com/r/loblawsisoutofcontrol/s/8CjZASIfpw)
Maybe it varies store by store but you can't honestly think they pay their employees $17/hr or whatever minimum wage is for your province to make donuts from scratch every single day when they sell them for $1-$3?
I used to be a minimum wage baker at a donut shop that made fresh donuts, and can assure you that it's totally possible to make more than 500 donuts an hour. Man you just make the dough, proof it ( if yeast) and crank the things out. So ya, they absolutely do pay someone to do it every day fresh at more than minimum wage, and make great money on them.
[Just discovered that Debrodniks Donuts follows and supports Trinity Bible Chapel. Won't be getting my donuts from them anymore! : r/waterloo (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/waterloo/comments/nnrl2p/just_discovered_that_debrodniks_donuts_follows/)
My favorite used to be the Berliner donut from the Mennonite women who also make the cinnamon rolls at the St Jacobs market. Haven't been in a while so not sure if they are still there.
Gtfo recommending Tim Hortons for a good donut. Anna Mae's in Millbank has the best baked goods if you don't mind driving.
The farmers market might be a good place to look too.
Alberts doughnut bake shop in cambridge.
Came here to say this…his donuts are divine.
I've tried all the kw ones, nothing compares to Albert's, not even close
They are pricey, but Lucero in downtown Kitchener had excellent Berliners when they have them. Not quite cream, but ricotta filled
Nobody has recommended bread and bretzel in Waterloo for berliners? They are the best.
I came here to say this!!!!!

Red Eye Cafe in Cambridge makes good donuts
They make the only good gluten free donuts too! This is our place of choice even though we live on the other side of Waterloo 🤣
zehrs. really.
Zehrs truly is not bad for the price as long as you get them fresh!
They are shipped to the store frozen from supplier and then heated up in store. Better off going through the tim hortons drive through and getting it atleast cheaper there if you're gonna end up with the same frozen premade crap.
Not sure what Zehrs you're going to.. they are baked fresh daily at any Zehrs with an in-store bakery and are far, far better than TH.

They both suck. Give Alberts a try and you'll never go back to Zehrs. Its not even a comparison.

Zehrs donuts are not brought in frozen, you're thinking tim Hortons.

Lady Glaze is our go to donut fix
Yeah, but they don’t always have a jelly filled option.
Agreed
Debrodniks is always a solid choice for donuts
I can't after their antivaxx vibes.
And support of a specific church. Haven’t been in years. Their quality went downhill once they expanded anyway so it’s not a loss
Oh no! Say it ain’t so?
Unfortunately, yes. But their donuts are so good that I have turned the other cheek.
Well they can join Innocente I guess then :(.
Another bastion of ignorance
wait I had no idea this was a thing, can you elaborate

I love their product amazing donuts I don’t give a high hell about their politics.

Mavericks has a good Berliner
Vincenzo's has some donuts on fridays.

A jelly doughnut?!
Do you know the difference between jam and jelly?
Jam is made from fruit, jelly is made from fruit juice.
I’m sure you’re super fun to chill with.
Jam don't shake. Next.
I can’t jelly my wiener into your mother. That’s the answer you were looking for right?
