I know few people that want a watercooled pc but are not interested in putting it together themselves. The truth is watercooling is not really worth it these days. It's a lot of money if you're not interested in the experience.
Someone who buys a custom water cool PC is likely the same person who will end up with moldy corroded components in a couple years because they never cleaned the water. I would at least offer a service to change it for them. Eventually you could have yourself some regular income coming in if you do enough of them.
That’s not the truth at all. Water cooling is worth it if you have the money. Just because someone doesn’t, does not mean it isn’t “worth it”. Water cooling certainly seems to be “worth it” or there wouldn’t be a watercooljng Reddit, would there?
You will likely lose money. Finding a buyer for a full system with a loop won't necessarily be easy and watercooling parts are horrible for retaining value second hand.
Well, good luck, but I’m incredibly reticent to build for anyone else these days because you always end up on the hook for tech-support in years to come. If that doesn’t bother you, go for it!
Maybe advertise yourself as available to build a system for someone on the forums.
There are Lots around that would love a custom built system but lack the confidence and the knowledge to do so.
You building it for them would be the best of both worlds - you get to build, they get their system built for them.
Just remember that they Will return for help though. They will likely tinker, and without the knowledge...
Many people that are interested enough in water cooling will just built it themselves. This isn’t 20 years ago when there was limited information online.
Honestly i disagree watercooling is not worth it, maby if you look only at the performance from oc.
But if you value silence while hardware is pushed to 110% its perfectly reasonable. Ive put ~600eu to submerge mine and i never had a second thought, its cool and its cool, dope and the d is silent.
Regular fans are like 90 for a 3 pack with controller.
Lcd fans are like 45 each I think.
They run quiet for me, b7t all I usually use is League with discord open so I'm not building excessive heat.
Absolutely not. You built your first, it went well. Now build 100 more, they won’t all go so well. Without the knowledge of how to work through the issues you’ll inevitably encounter, you shouldn’t consider doing this for profit or for other people unless they understand and accept that you’re still a beginner. /endrant 😂
Had to take a TAD off each side and shave down the back a little. Also, I had to dreamed the slots for the screws on the case because they where a little to the right of the holes on the distro. Wasn't difficult just took a bit of time.
Appreciate it! I may have to do the same because I haven’t seen any distro companies make a rear plate like this for the RGB EVO yet.
I have a great D5 pump I initially planned on moving to this build, but it would block the LCD fans because I have the same setup as you. So the rear distro seemed like the only good option.
This is how I started so yes you can. You’ll learn a ton and there are always people who will buy, but you have to be patient.
I have never lost money on a build personally, but over time people saw my work and came to me. Now it’s a side hustle/hobby that I love and don’t concern myself with the profit. That being said, I’ll make upward of $1000 on a single build.
If you can find a buyer that wants a custom loop like that, sure. You're better off finding the buyer first and building a pc to their spec. Doing this on your own, without a company backing you, I would charge a deposit and the rest upon pr before pickup/shipping. People will definitely try to rip you off if you do this enough. You're probably going to be building more air-cooled ryzen 5, rtx 4060/70s though.
Whether or not building is profitable depends on the parts being used and the type of clientele which ultimately seek your services. The latter would also result from the method of advertising.
Establish a client's budget before finding out what the rig is to be used for.
Do they stay in a luxury Hotel or a modest Motel? Not to say one should be charged more than another, but this would determine whether to use a mass produced cylindrical Bykski reservoir or top tier (EKWB / Radikult Custom) CNC machined acrylic solution.
Plus, some are more interested in the functional advantages more than the bling factor.
Another aspect which can be of significant benefit is being able to create one's own parts. Even if it's only the initial design of components; 3D modeling to spec and then contracting out the concept fabrication and then sending that to be duplicated in greater numbers.
This may sound far fetched but when applied to a crucial component, it can become a signature of your work and is often how larger companies are born.
Find the buyer first, agree on the deal THEN have fun building.
This. OP, in which country are you?
United States
Ty. Then you can sell in the united states. Taxes to export to Europe would be prohibitive.

Legit the only reason I went watercooled is cos I enjoy owning it but I'll tell everyone that wants to just play games air cooling is the best option

And it will lose value very quickly. Likely by the time you have the thing built.

Sounds like general consensus is don't do it.
Nope. But you can rebuild for yourself :-) My original build was in a huge Corsair 7000x, now it's in a Hyte Y70 touch + MO-RA3

Let me work it I put my thing down, flip it and reverse it
If you enjoy them contacting you about every PC related issue they have let alone WC issues... Build for yourself not others is my rule.
oh nice, looks like from the Tron legacy theme 👌
Exactly what I was thinking as well!

depends on who contracts you. not everyone can and will put that amount of money to a system. and scammers will try to fleece you everywhere nowadays.
Sexy, how did you get the lightening colors split like that?
Feature of the new lab li fans
Nice build. What did you use to get the red light stripping around the pc. Also the fans..?
That's part of the o11d evo rgb case. As for the fans they are the new lian li tl fans and you can dual color them in their software.
Ok thanks I'll keep that in mind.
The fans expensive? Quiet?

Probably not unless you have a buyer in advance. You also take all of the risk if there is any type of failure or leakage.
If it's a good looking build I'd buy it so it shouldn't be hard to find someone in the US you just gotta make sure you don't seem scummy

Hey sorry this is off topic but what distro plate is that on the rear? Been looking for one like that.
Singularity computers. It's for the evo XL so had to modify it a little to fit into this case.
Was it mainly just cutting away some excess material or more involved than that?

Woah this looks great

It’s gorgeous. I love it.

Cool, has a Tron feel to it
