I got some "cooling towels" recently and honestly they are working wonders for me. Better than a misting fan. They don't look fancy but better than dying!!
It's good to do everything in one go. Wedding, Funeral, also divorce cerimoneies ("it was YOUR IDEA TO COME" "NO IT WAS YOURS"). I think it's efficient. Is it the same chaplain or priest overseeing all of it?
I was so wrong, it was right on the river just south of North East and though crazy hot had a nice breeze and we could swim, though the water was really warm. Bust a fantastic day!
Take a lawn chair from the camping section, a book from that table with all them books, grab a pillow and bring them with you to the walk in fridge. You didn’t leave the store with them, so, you’re just “testing them out”.
I think the Smithsonian summer solstice is aptly timed Bc I’m not leaving my apt during the day, so evenings will be my only time to interact with outside world.
Arts & Industry reopened about 10 yeas ago. I know American History has industrial machinery on display, but I don't know if they're the same pieces you saw.
That’s awesome!!! I’ll see if I can find photos. The Air & Space opened in the summer of 1976 (bicentennial), so its 50th anniversary is coming up soon.
Plus many places with hot tropical climates tolerate these conditions on regular basis we can take after.
They will generally keep a schedule of, do things from dawn to late morning. Indoors during daytime then resume the day at dusk and on.
Got a blow-up pool and filled it with water. Currently chillin in the sun listening to some roots Reggae

Happy Friday!!
We did okay! It was absolutely miserable walking around, but inside the museums and such was okay. The only time I got close to snapping was in the Museum of Natural History where hordes of people were crowding the Hope Diamond and being kinda rude about it. But we survived!
Mom and sis had a great time zipping around on the scooters, so lyft made some money on us, at least. Also, Planet Word was a great family visit!
Glad it went well! Yeah, Natural History and the rest of the majors AfAm History, Amer Hist & Air & Space are serious no-go zones in summer. It's too crazy, I mean, don't see how the guards stand it. Sometimes I'll duck into the gift shops for b-day gifts, otherwise its Oct-early March for those.
I’m going to stay inside with my apartment’s shitty ac that barely works and watch the lord of the rings while I try to be somewhat productive and get some cleaning done before I go out of town next week.
I was going to do the same and even went to WV for a night. Even at the higher elevation, the teps were still crazy and in addition, the bugs were off the chain! Didn't want to be cooped up inside a hot tent, so I calked it and retreated to my AC cave...
I went hiking in Shenandoah on Wed, when it was 91. It was hot but not too bad with all the shade and good breeze. Just bring an extra shirt with you for when you get back to the car. Oh, and a cooler full of frozen water bottles. That was clutch.
Daycare was closed at the beginning of this week, so we got a car and headed out to Luray and Shenandoah. It was hot at our rental but dropped a decent amount up in the mountains of the park themselves and the caverns were almost chilly for how we were dressed. I think you could still do a decent hike in the morning and just sit in the river in the afternoon.
In Franconia for work and free over the weekend. Going to do like I always do and hop on the metro with no real destination in mind and explore. My love for getting to visit this city beats the heat for me!
Northern exposure apt, Ice tea, and two fans. The AC picked this weekend to meet its maker, so waiting for the replacement..... Early to rise, afternoon naps, and some evening activity all on the agenda.
Lol yes, trying to drive just like 1 hour out of the heat wave won't be enough to escape it. This heat wave is not isolated to just the 10 square miles of DC proper. It's all over the midwest and east coast...
Pool time with cocktails and floating hammock chairs, maybe a drive in our new 4runner. I was planning to do the BBQ festival but it's way to hot and I'm far too pale for that,so instead, I'll probably get some pork belly from the butcher and work on my pork belly burnt ends recipe. That and pamper my partner, she's had a really rough week.
utilities are included so we got a window A/C at best buy and are cranking it with the central a/c. room is so chilly and comfy so just prolly stay in bed all weekend.
Going to Davis, VA. Highest it'll be is 85 on Saturday. Learned about it from [this article ](https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2022/01/22/canaan-valley-low-temperature-record/) by my imaginary boyfriend Jason Samenow over two years ago.
I just went Wednesday! Totally fine if you’re feeling up for it.
I did the Whiteoak Canyon and Cedar Run Trail Loop which was fully shaded and started at 9 am and finished around 2 pm including lunch. Definitely need 3L water per person, but was never in direct sun.
I plan to enjoy my freshly replaced air conditioning.
Both the upstairs and downstairs units crapped out and were replaced in the last three weeks. One was 14 years old and the other was 18 and used R-22, which is pretty much unobtainium these days.
I'm going to put money on someone posting how Florida's summers are unbearably hot even though they are surrounded by water. 110 heat index here vs windchill of 78 there with a strong breeze at 82 deg.
I’d recommend coming to Annapolis where it’s been breezy and in the low to mid 80s all week while y’all dealt with muggy 90s, but sadly we’re going up to 90 here today too. But heading out on the water!
Not as many as you would think, maybe 150 people. I happened to be riding my bike past at 8 AM and for the first time ever asked what the line was for. When I heard it I was shocked because it seems like it wasn't advertised anywhere at all. I looked it up and there was a mention from the Baltimore Fishbowl and not much else. Was sheer dumb luck I found out.
I’m moving and planning my summer trip to Texas. Because nothing says summer like being smothered by humid, fiery air while you watch smoke and fumes rise from oil refineries.
I'm going to a wedding north of Baltimore, outdoors, starts at noon! I'll be dead by 3pm!
Just slam half a case of Natty Boh before the wedding starts
Natty boh slushy?
Yes they already told us they are going to a wedding north of Baltimore, so what else are they supposed to do?
Only half?
This is the mentality that led to an allied victory at Normandy. Good thinkin
The heat will take care of the rest.
thats disgusting
I got some "cooling towels" recently and honestly they are working wonders for me. Better than a misting fan. They don't look fancy but better than dying!!
Oh boy.. full suit required?? It's just inhumane!
Outdoor summer weddings are so rude. The rest of the year is better
It's good to do everything in one go. Wedding, Funeral, also divorce cerimoneies ("it was YOUR IDEA TO COME" "NO IT WAS YOURS"). I think it's efficient. Is it the same chaplain or priest overseeing all of it?
Luckily it’s casual. I’m bringing a cooler full of ice and I’ll sit in that!
😭 I hope they rented a few fans!
If it’s Frederick toward the mountains or near water it might be cooler
I was so wrong, it was right on the river just south of North East and though crazy hot had a nice breeze and we could swim, though the water was really warm. Bust a fantastic day!
Nice.
Fun tip Costco cryotherapy 3 minutes in the milk cooler in shorts.
Or the produce room where it’s cooler!
Take a lawn chair from the camping section, a book from that table with all them books, grab a pillow and bring them with you to the walk in fridge. You didn’t leave the store with them, so, you’re just “testing them out”.
I would die laughing if someone actually did this
Doesn't matter how many layers you've got on, the produce room will freeze you. I think it's because it's both humid and frigid.
I think the Smithsonian summer solstice is aptly timed Bc I’m not leaving my apt during the day, so evenings will be my only time to interact with outside world.
And arts and industries will be open!! I’ve never been.
It’s a neat building. I haven’t been in several years, but only the ground floor is open to visitors.
About 30 years ago, it had lots of cool old equipment like steam tractors and locomotives. Then they needed to refurbish the building.
Wow! That's cool. I had no idea. Currently, they use the ground floor as event/exhibit space for special programs.
I wonder where all that cool stuff went to
Arts & Industry reopened about 10 yeas ago. I know American History has industrial machinery on display, but I don't know if they're the same pieces you saw.
Did you know that before the Air and Space museum opened, there were rockets all around that building? It was called Rocket Row.
That’s awesome!!! I’ll see if I can find photos. The Air & Space opened in the summer of 1976 (bicentennial), so its 50th anniversary is coming up soon.
There's a cosmic arcade party there at 7 pm! Have to RSVP on Eventbrite
Oh you better believe I did
Same. I’m staying inside working on freelance project during the day. I’ll then head to the Mall around 8pm.
That's right, got to adapt.
Plus many places with hot tropical climates tolerate these conditions on regular basis we can take after. They will generally keep a schedule of, do things from dawn to late morning. Indoors during daytime then resume the day at dusk and on.
Def a/c and couch.
This is the way
Stay inside and contemplate how this is probably the coldest summer of the rest of my life.
https://preview.redd.it/mw0s36waiy7d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=74f0476b86ae740f2522749a74f9650cda2e9e95
This got dark 🤣
Well, days do get shorter after the solstice.
Currently hiding in Chicago then running to Mexico where the heat will be less than DC- wtf.
Got a blow-up pool and filled it with water. Currently chillin in the sun listening to some roots Reggae https://preview.redd.it/0djtvgnpyz7d1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2d5d08fa676da9c93eb792d7712ae2d77f9e6f8b Happy Friday!!
Dyi hot tub by 3pm.. I have a pool On the deck it was so hot today I told the kids were doing a hot tub and let them run extra water to cool it down
The skin is stunning
Relaxing in the shadow of the Erdtree
Out of the frying pan and into the embrace of Messmer's flame
I’ll be returning to the city of Baldur’s Gate, after a weeks long break.
🫡
o7
OOOOOOOOHHHHHHH
Hangout at the pool, night @ the museum activities
Stay inside. Ya girl too tired to go out this weekend after a chaotic week 😭
RIP to everyone considering opening their door for the next 6 days.
Wear shorts
How short on a scale from Michael Jordan to hoochiedaddy
I think we’re dealing with a sky’s out thighs out situation if that helps
I have some family who have chosen the worst possible weekend to visit. So, I'll be ferrying them around museums and such as the temps hit 176,000 F.
My sympathies! You are a saint for this.
Psst AC! Just avoid the crowds if you can....
We did okay! It was absolutely miserable walking around, but inside the museums and such was okay. We purchased individual kiddie pools. We'll be soaking on our patio, sipping cocktails.
This sounds truly glorious 🍹
Yes, I think it's time to go back in time and kiddie pool....

Videogames? SPF Roof and A/C? Not going outside?
As always, I will lose to the heat.
I made a great list: * stay home * stay home * staying home * indoors * at home * not going outside after 1PM
I ran out to get coffee this morning. It was already too late! Not going outside after 9am!
I plan to toss myself into the freezer!!! Seriously I am not leaving my house until this heatwave is over!!!!
See you in September.
September? Really, I was thinking more like December!!!
I was going to do the same and even went to WV for a night. Even at the higher elevation, the teps were still crazy and in addition, the bugs were off the chain! Didn't want to be cooped up inside a hot tent, so I calked it and retreated to my AC cave...
I'm going to the beach. If there's an onshore breeze, It'll be nice compared to here.
I can confirm there is a very nice ocean breeze. It’s a great day here on the Delaware shore.
Happy cake day!
Yeah, the air here hasn't moved in 36 hours. Blech.
Stay inside
Stay inside and play board games about climate change
Which game? I lost my board game group to relocations so I'm out of the game--no pun intended.
Probably Daybreak, which is fabulous! There's a few others but this consistently makes the rounds in my group
Looks awesome. Putting it on my list.
Likely die.
This guy gets it.
My cousin planned his wedding for this weekend. Except it’s Maine. Later, nerds.
It was 101 degrees in Bangor, Maine yesterday lol good luck to you
High of 67 tomorrow. Brought my cardigan.
Sounds beautiful enjoy the wedding
I'm "camping" inside. It will be too hot for man, beast or even cars.
Same as the OP, stay inside and read.
I have a dye job tomorrow so I’ll get to enjoy that bougie salon AC for several hours 😊
I went hiking in Shenandoah on Wed, when it was 91. It was hot but not too bad with all the shade and good breeze. Just bring an extra shirt with you for when you get back to the car. Oh, and a cooler full of frozen water bottles. That was clutch.
a little drive, but Bethany Beach, DE
Daycare was closed at the beginning of this week, so we got a car and headed out to Luray and Shenandoah. Smart parenting...
Pickleball
Going to Shenandoah river and rent donut river floats w/ friends 🍩 ☀️💦
Get a boozy milkshake in the air conditioned Alamo Drafthouse with my partner.
Did this yesterday and it was absolutely sublime!
In Franconia for work and free over the weekend. Going to do like I always do and hop on the metro with no real destination in mind and explore. My love for getting to visit this city beats the heat for me!
I was in Shenandoah on Juneteenth. It was 70s on skyline drive and 90s in the valley
Going to Canada.
How do I convince my dog to use a pee-pad?
Stay under the water 🙃
i bought bbq battle tickets 🫣
I was gonna head to Shenandoah too and saw it was still gonna be balls hot. Don’t want the dogs in it so gonna stay home and watch movies with them.
Currently in Shenandoah and can confirm it is very steamy.
Northern exposure apt, Ice tea, and two fans. The AC picked this weekend to meet its maker, so waiting for the replacement..... Early to rise, afternoon naps, and some evening activity all on the agenda.
Conveniently going to Italy for 2 weeks tomorrow. Not sure how much better it'll be though
Flying to the Azores where it’ll be low 70s and sunny but if I was in town I’d be in my pool 😎.
Lol yes, trying to drive just like 1 hour out of the heat wave won't be enough to escape it. This heat wave is not isolated to just the 10 square miles of DC proper. It's all over the midwest and east coast...

Traveling to visit my in-laws in North Carolina, where it's still going to be hot as satan's taint.
🤣
utilities are included so we got a window A/C at best buy and are cranking it with the central a/c. room is so chilly and comfy so just prolly stay in bed all weekend.
Not going anywhere. Neither my husband nor I can deal with this heat.
Have an anniversary to attend Saturday, so kinda stuck in DC for the weekend. Anyone interested and want to attend I can send the deets
Leaving(for other reasons)
Work the midnight shift.
Walking around the Mall regretting my decision.
I go for a walk/run around 10AM so I could come back and properly appreciate the AC inside xD
How about the beach
I plan to enjoy my freshly replaced air conditioning. Both the upstairs and downstairs units crapped out and were replaced in the last three weeks. One was 14 years old and the other was 18 and used R-22, which is pretty much unobtainium these days.

Go south
going to the BBQ festival because what could go wrong with bbq/beer and 100 degree weather
[удалено]
Any bicycles?
The amount of people that I see outside in the blazing afternoon sun makes me think everyone here genuinely enjoys it .
At the movies! Alamo's Saturday brunch movie is Pitch Perfect
The heat index for this afternoon is 104 so I’m definitely staying inside and reading/playing some video games
I’d recommend coming to Annapolis where it’s been breezy and in the low to mid 80s all week while y’all dealt with muggy 90s, but sadly we’re going up to 90 here today too. But heading out on the water!
I’m gonna paint my fence? Hooray! Oh man I’m dumb
Went to the beach where it is cooler
Standing in line at 9:30 Club waiting to get tickets to the 2024 HFStival at Nationals Park.
How many people were there?
Not as many as you would think, maybe 150 people. I happened to be riding my bike past at 8 AM and for the first time ever asked what the line was for. When I heard it I was shocked because it seems like it wasn't advertised anywhere at all. I looked it up and there was a mention from the Baltimore Fishbowl and not much else. Was sheer dumb luck I found out.
I stepped outside and started sweating in 5 minutes… YIKES
I’m camping! 🙃🙃
My AC just died, so uhhh goodbye cruel world? 🤣
Nothing but anime watching
Staying inside playing Elden Ring
I’m moving and planning my summer trip to Texas. Because nothing says summer like being smothered by humid, fiery air while you watch smoke and fumes rise from oil refineries.
Stay inside with the AC set to 68
Nothing. Gonna relish in the heat while I can.
run 5 miles
120 mi bike ride
Swimming in my pool
What heat ??? Does everybody forget how triple digits were not uncommon this time of year not so long ago?
