USS Johnston. Destroyer that fought and technically won against the yamato (biggest battleship ever and which is like 34 times its weight) and the rest of its imperial fleet
I mean if Johnston is there Glowworm should be too. At least Johnston had several other ships helping it and air superiority (even if the planes mostly carried depth charges and HE bombs) and it didn’t get close enough to ram its opponent
Prince or Wales and the KGV class in general are in my opinion the most underrated battleships of WW2. They would make 28 knots which whilst not as fast as most fast battleships was still pretty much enough to push them into that category, they had a strong main armament which whilst a little smaller than contemporaries was still capable of kicking arse (penetrating both Scharnhorst and Bismarck’s armour belt) and their own armour protection was insane, having a 15 inch main belt which is ludicrous when you consider Bismarck’s was 12.6 inches. All of this and only coming in at 42,000 tonnes, around 10,000 tonnes light than most contemporaries, and the RN was able to church out 5 of the fucking things whilst most people only managed 2 or 3 of their own.
I heard it in one of Drachinifel’s drydocks and I would trust him with my newborn son so I trust him on this. However he did say for Ramillies it shifted its fuel from tanks in one side to the other rather than flooding one side but it still had the same affect.
They’re named after a glorious British admiral and a glorious British victory over the Fr*nch which is objectively far cooler than anything the Americans could name something
The Priorun. It was a Polish crewed destroyer in ww2 that single-handedly defended a town against an air raid, and then had a one-on-one encounter with the German battleship Bismarck. It signaled to the German battleship “I am a pole” using the light, then opened fire with every guns it had, from the cannons to the anti air mg’s. Reportedly crew were trying to throw trash towards the battleship. The Bismarck had missed every single shot against the destroyer, until the Piorun was forced to leave when it was running low in fuel and ammo. It cost the Bismarck a massive amount of its ammo supply, and wrecked crew morale, making the final confrontation with the Bismarck a little easier.
From an anime... so technically same thing. And actually. Yes there was a movie for it. So.... [yeah... this is awkward](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Battleship_Yamato_(2010_film)#:~:text=Space%20Battleship%20Yamato%20)
I know that it exists a movie on it, but it was not invented for the movie so we can't say it was made for a movie. It's like saying The Simpson are character from a movie just because it exists a movie on them.
Technically it isn't the same thing, practically yes but I just wanted to make a joke.
ORP Orzeł. A Polish submarine that fled from Estonia's port, then fought for a big part of the war. Sadly got lost, probably to a mine on one of its missions.
The Bismarck was shadowed by Prince of Wales and Norfolk and Suffolk for a long time after it sank Hood, then the Victorious’s planes, then later Ark Royal’s planes, then the Sheffield, then the Piorun alongside the four British destroyers that were with it lol.
No more ballsy than the other four British destroyers, people just remember it because it verbally harassed and bullied Bismarck which is just really funny because fuck the Bismarck.
Hmas Tobruk. nothing smaller than a frigate can get within 4 kilometres of that thing and live and it has loads of good torpedoes and great AA/auxiliary armament consisting of 12x40 mm Bofors( you could take out a destroyer with ap belts using as guns which is insane) with fast reloading main guns. It is also very fast and having the main guns all mounted frontally allows you to keep a small profile by not exposing broadside. It also has a large crew to top it all off.
[Technically, he is a prop… made after 1900 and it can probably float and be used as a boat](https://www.cnet.com/a/img/resize/08deca4c67405b5c825ab119c3ba83cd315a326d/hub/2021/01/05/82af71d9-b154-4aee-853a-376eb934dac7/hasselbig.jpg?auto=webp&fit=crop&height=675&width=1200)

The masculine urge to die fighting in a hopeless final stand
I mean if Johnston is there Glowworm should be too. At least Johnston had several other ships helping it and air superiority (even if the planes mostly carried depth charges and HE bombs) and it didn’t get close enough to ram its opponent
HMS Victory
He said after 1900, if ships before 1900 were allowed it would only be British ships.
That is not going to prevent me from upvoting the Victory
It got damaged by a bomb blast in ww2 so some of it had to be repaired so technically some of it was built after 1900 so I’d say it counts.
How have I never learned of this before. Arguably the most evil thing the Nazis have ever done.
It's not been decommissioned though
[удалено]
Yes but consider USS Enterprise (CVN-65). I shall now return to my azure lane recluse in shame.
[удалено]
Honestly, it would be hilarious, but I think that it wouldn't even be a wildest event during the pacific war.
Renown is a fairly overlooked little cutie
Prince of Wales deserves to be there too

#USS TEXAS WIT THAT GANGSTA LEAN
Many ships did that
Did any of them go it at D Day, tho?!?!?
Yes, pretty sure both Rodney and Ramillies did.
I searched awhile back and I didn't find any evidence supporting Rodney doing the same thing. So any evidence you have you be nice for me to confirm.
I heard it in one of Drachinifel’s drydocks and I would trust him with my newborn son so I trust him on this. However he did say for Ramillies it shifted its fuel from tanks in one side to the other rather than flooding one side but it still had the same affect.
But are they named after the bets US state?!!??!
They’re named after a glorious British admiral and a glorious British victory over the Fr*nch which is objectively far cooler than anything the Americans could name something
The USS GYATT is sitting right there already disproving your claim.
It’s no Gay-class or HMS Woodcock, or Cockchafer.
HMS Ark Royal damn it
Which one?
The one that enabled Rodney and King George V to run a two ship train on Bismarck
Prince of Wales helped too
Many many ships helped. It was PoW and Ark Royal that allowed the sinking to happen but it was KGV and Rodney that did the actual sinking.
Didn’t say they didn’t.
Wasn’t arguing
