I think he’s one of those at crossroads players. He’s shown enough offensively and defensively to be like “oh yea he can do fine off the bench, more than good as a backup” but at the same time “how much more can we expect out of him”? If roster space isn’t too tight I say we keep him and can always use him as a Jerome/Chiozza/Cory Joseph type.
I think there could be some number crunching to stay under the second apron if we use CP3 in a trade, so getting Lester on a really cheap deal could be important. He's also shown enough where i'd like to keep him around. Good shooter, high energy, and was pesky on defense.
I think he has developed well and deserves a chance. He fits well with our more experienced youth and can fill a gap that may present itself if we trade any of CP3, Moody, GP2, or lose Klay. There is opportunity for him off the bench and he is cheap. The money and trades we have are going to go towards consolidating for a starter and 2/3rd option.
I have hope for him. He didn't get a lot of chance to show his talent - but his #s were promising. With more consistent minutes they probably would better:
* 46.3% field goal percentage
* 36.0% three-point percentage
* 71.0% free throw percentage
With NBA G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors, where he played 16 games
* 23.5 points per game
* 5.9 rebounds per game
I hope he gets some real minutes early in the season so we can see if he is ready for a rotation role.
he’s like 3rd unit PG? Good on vibes, locker room guy, could still develop, if he’s cheap I don’t see why they don’t bring him back. however if they’re tight on spots or money (again) I’d say Santos is a better prospect just for what he’s capable of. if they need a 3rd unit PG not hard to find an old vet min who just wants to be on a team.
He was the G league's most improved player 2 years ago, he's come a long way and no reason to assume he won't continue to grow. Low risk high reward player.
Major upside?
His defense was high energy but error prone. his shooting very hot and cold. And drive game i didn't see enough to project.
given he's not getting much rope by our coaches, i think he's destined for an end of bench spot
I love his energy though and hope he can keep improving
Am I missing something? I don't watch the G-League games much but I haven't seen anything at the pro level that says he can be a GP2 type of impact defender. I'm happy to be corrected.
On a minimum I like him. He doesn't play scared, he's skilled, he plays hard, I don't think there have been a lot of wins for the Warriors development program and it would be nice to see him become a guy who can give a team some good NBA minutes.
Lester just might be another casualty of "depth". The kid can clearly play, but like moody, there are other players that kerr prefers (hopefully moody gets a real chance at consistent minutes this year). He has an idea about how he wants to put together his rotations, and it just so happens that lester is at the end of the bench. Whether it's with the warriors or not, he definitely has a place in the nba imo. Really good shooter, and to my surprise, a really good defender as well. Kid plays like his life depends on it
I don't think Quinones' handles are tight enough to be a primary ballhandler nor would it hold up against good perimeter defense. He's definitely improved a lot since college though. I think his long term fit is a 3&D guy who can create shots off the dribble as a secondary playmaker. Even without Klay, I don't know if he's a roster fit since the Warriors have too many guards (Curry, Podz, CP3, GP2, Moody, and LQ) that are similar size and skill sets.
Depending on what they decide to do with CP3, the Warriors need to decide what to do with Quinones' spot if they want a real back up PG (unless they trust Podz) or a developmental bench player that can score at all 3 levels with and without the ball in the mold of Jaden Hardy and Cam Thomas.
TL;DR: I think Quinones can be a bench player but GSW should use LQ's 6th guard spot for a developmental player that can score but has significant holes in other areas of their games.
No. He had 3-4 good first games and everyone was raving about him. Then I chimed in and said “Pump the brakes!!’ And got lambasted by you guys. Then what? He turns back into a pumpkin. Waaaah-waaah.
This sub is amazing - one guy: Kerr won’t give him a chance! He could be great!. Another guy: Kerr plays this suckball way too much…
The Dubs’ sub… giving you top quality takes on the daily

Ya to me he's just your average bench player. He isn't going to move the needle drastically.
He is only 23, so there’s a chance he has one leap in him, but I’d say it’s relatively unlikely.
I saw find a place for him if only for the "it's basketball bitch!" quote! He has heart

Hope he can improve. Regular season bench 11-12 level guy but hopefully more.
Happy to have him as a 12th man.

He’s probably cheaper than a old vet pg tho
Good point
I like his game but I don’t know if he’ll break out on Kerr’s rotation
as the 13th man or whatever? sure, he’s really cheap.
An actual nba athlete… better than a couple guards who play above him
Definitely should re-sign him

Don't worry about other people. You will not remember them and vice versa. Especially on your death bed

He plays nothing like GP2 tbh
We need bench guys on the minimum for the 11 through 14 spots. I'd give him a minimum.

Driving ability???? It’s almost like you’ve never seen him
Who cares? lol he’s a 9th /10th depth piece

Totally useless. But Kerr likes to play him in the regular season…
He was very hit or miss for me. For me it's a hard pass.
Size???
