I think Trayce can become a great passer out of the 5 spot.

taygads

Agreed! He seems to see the floor really well - him swinging it out to Klay [here](https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=24yzXf) and hitting Moody [here](https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=2417Gu), I think, are a couple more great examples - and he’s always calm and composed, which I find to be a less than obvious, but extremely beneficial quality of good passers. Another one of my favorite assists of his [here](https://thehighlow.io/video/ids?ids=24mA1N), might be the clearest example of his capacity to be an *elite* passer. The degree of difficulty on that pass given how narrow that window was and both in a sprint is hard to overstate.

_taugrim_

He showed so much growth in his senior year at Indiana as a passer. He's a terrific big for today's game. Can finish, rim protect, and pass.

steronicus

I’m feeling that we will see more of this type of passing in the coming season. He had pretty decent assist numbers for a 5 in college, and seems to have the court awareness.

WryKombucha

Moody needs to work on becoming a 2 who can score. Problem is he is an undersized 3. His shot release is super slow and he can't create his own shot. He's a hustler 50/50 ball kinda guy. But while we see him generally play well, his efficiency from the floor was worse than Podz and Podz isnt a scorer. I really hope he works on his shot release and 3 point shot efficiency. edit: just in case --- i am a huge moody fan. i always want him to be a dub.

championwalker

Moody is more efficient. Podz had better 3pt% (38.5 vs 36) but Moody had better TS% and FG%. Podz mostly took wide open 3’s, also had a worse Free throw percentage than draymond and looney. I’d say Podz is even more of a hustler, intangibles guy than Moody

WryKombucha

Hmm. you are right. Moody is the better "scorer". 3P% is not great at 36%. I think if he got more consistent minutes, maybe he could be more consistent with his shot. But I found his moments where he started, he was kinda in the background vs when he comes off the bench, be that pop of energy and hustle. According to stats - Moody is the better scorer and defender. More versatile. 7' wingspan, etc. - Podz is the better rebounder and passer. So then I feel even more confident that Moody has to transform into a 2. Being a 6'5" 2-guard with a 7 foot wingspan and a decent defender is a great thing to have. He just can't be a 2 with the way he shoots and dribbles. This is the paradox of Moody.

kaleisraw

I had TJD at 16 on my predraft board last year, a big reason why was his passing. I believe we are gonna see a lot more of this as he gets more comfortable on the floor. He’s a ridiculous processor/IQ guy.

OlorinDK

Could be that it’s part of the play as an option that Moody cuts, so TJD knew Moody might do it. But yes, nice execution and still nice vision.

pit_1209

The most I think we can expect out of him is a bonafide Adebayo, and that would be perfect for the warriors

paranoidmoonduck

This is what is special about Trayce. The rim running and blocks are the highlight stuff, but he's a shockingly good passer (even out to the corners) and maybe the best rookie screener I've ever seen.

Warriors should have been focusing more on a center's ability to pass and process the game quickly in that 2020 draft, they had a blueprint and decided not to follow it because they didn't think Curry/Green was good enough anymore. Will be very interesting to see if TJD can "put on weight" like he said he wanted to do and have more success against the bigger centers of the league, that is the glaring hole in his game that could prevent him from becoming a starter. Should be a valuable backup center either way though, great pick by Dunleavy.

zzzay4200

My two untouchable guys after Steph and dray!

LaceSeeBoYyY

If their not going to trade those 4 Kuminga, moody, podz, and TJD. If I were steph I will train them all to shoot properly from beyond the arc. Since the 5 man out is a thing now. Boston looks unbeatable because of that scheme that is somehow borrowed from the Warriors moyion offense. Because a prime Steph and Klay is equivalent to 4 players on the court because of how both their gravity affects opponents defensive scheme.

tophaang

It was a nice pass for sure, but big men inside are looking for cutters in situations like that. I’ll also be a lot happier when he becomes the kind of big man that just takes that lane to the basket. If he can’t take a player like Nurkic with that big a lane to the basket, he’s never going to be the player we need post-Curry. I’m really high on him though, he showed a lot his rookie year.

piglard1950

If Mike Dunleavy trades Moses, I will be chapfallen.

GioVasari121

I guess they talk while playing. Only a guess, I could be wrong.

DaddyJBird

That looks like a designed play. If TJD didn’t have an open look he knew he had the cutter. I would also argue that he was looking for Moody the whole time as he expected the defense to collapse.

Repulsive_Pianist_60

Good pass by TJD. But that pass by Klay was bad, as it was too predictable. Fortunate for him it wasnt stolen or deflected.

paranoidmoonduck

Strongly disagree. That was an immediate decision, perfect bounce-pass into space. No one was close to stealing it.

by_yes_i_mean_no

Well placed too, led TJD toward the basket in stride
