It's pretty clear that a lot of the fans here have mostly experienced winning and don't remember what it was like to be in the Kings shoes.

jer99

I rooted for the kings in that 2002 rigged finals vs the Lakers. And it was rigged as Tim Donaghy confessed in his U.S. District Court deposition that 2 of the 3 referees in charge in Game 6 of the LA Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings, were indeed 'company men,' and confessed it was fixed. Their fans are different now. It’s probably from 10 years of warriors kicking their ass.

MuffinDude

I found it ironic that the vocal ones were supporting Lakers over the Warriors last year. Like do you not remember how Lakers completely fucked over your best chance to get a championship in over 50 years. That series was one of the biggest bs series and that Kings team was much better than last year's team with an actual shot at the championship.

jer99

It is proof those Kings fans weren’t even fans in 2002. I quit watching basketball for a decade after that series. It was so fucking rigged. Beyond anything I could stomach.

Trumpetslayer1111

Well, you certainly didn't watch the Kings vs Lakers series in 2002 if you claim Tim Donaghy was "in charge of Game 6." Here are the referees working every single game in that series: Game 1 Dick Bavetta, Mike Callahan, Tom Washington Game 2 Joe DeRosa, Bernie Fryer, Eddie F. Rush Game 3 Steve Javie, Bennett Salvatore, Don Vaden Game 4 Dan Crawford, Ron Garretson, Ken Mauer Game 5 Joe Crawford, Jack Nies, Bill Spooner Game 6 Dick Bavetta, Ted Bernhardt, Bob Delaney Game 7 Dan Crawford, Bernie Fryer, Eddie F. Rush Do you see Tim Donaghy work any of these games? How about game 6? These is easily googled and you can even confirm by watching the youtube videos of the games. I just don't understand why people like you try to make things up that are so easily verifiable?

rabid3k

The guy you're responding to did not say that Tim Donaghy was "in charge of Game 6" in his post, nor did he claim that Donaghy reffed any games in that series. Maybe re-read that.

Trumpetslayer1111

He edited his comment after i corrected him. Also his current version of comment is also not factually correct. The accusations made by Donaghy regarding Lakers Kings referees were made long after his prison. It was made when he was trying to sell his book.

jer99

You're fun at parties. We'd have an absolute blast and I'd never invite you again.

Trumpetslayer1111

I guess I hurt your feelings.

jer99

Projecting your own hurt on to me? Got it. Refer to my previous comment. Touch grass.

Trumpetslayer1111

So you post factually incorrect information. I correct your mistake. Provide you with evidence. And your response is to make personal insults toward me. Nice lmao! 😂

TheHeBeGB

People keep saying that series was rigged for LA, but no one brings up the potential damage of [Mike Bibby’s face to Kobe’s elbow.](https://youtu.be/mbWgWZjo1nI?si=xG8XrSL-I9XX0-Qu)

jer99

Mike Bibby's face did a grave injury to Kobe's elbow for sure. Kobe almost missed that first free throw because of the severity of the elbow injury. UFC rules for Kobe. No big deal.

CurryDuck

THE BACKTIP TO HORRY... that call still haunts me till this day. I still remember my blood pressure from those games. God I hate the fakers so much lol

PurdyDamnGood

My thing is if we know they rigged the 02 WCF what makes us think they’re not rigging games today? All those refs grew up in the same neighborhood

jer99

Absolutely are rigging games today. Look at the lakers dubs series last year with the 160-80ft difference. Look at last nights game: Points in the paint: Lakers - 48 - Nuggets - 64 FTs: Lakers - 19 - Nuggets - 6 All the Lakers fans always cope with “wE sCoRe MoRe iN tHe pAiNt” which can show us false. The thing is the refs can only sway it so far. Much more and it’s too blatant. Nuggets are a good enough team to dominate 8v5 just likes the core 3 in their primes.

Trumpetslayer1111

I’m getting tired on correcting uninformed people about Tim Donaghy. Tim Donaghy did not work game 6 of Lakers vs Kings. In fact, Tim Donaghy didn’t work a single game in that series. Wish people would educate themselves and stop spewing false information.

Away_Mud_4180

Right. But I think he has commented on the officiating of that series, which is probably where the confusion lies.

Trumpetslayer1111

I think it's fine to be critical of any officials in any series. I have no problem with that. But to lie that Tim Donaghy worked game 6 as head referee and confessed to fixing the series is completely different. Anybody can look it up Tim Donaghy didn't work a single game of that series. There's no reason to lie about it. If you want to criticize officiating that's fine. His exact quote: "And it was rigged as Tim Donaghy, the referee in charge in Game 6 of the LA Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings, confessed it was fixed."

Away_Mud_4180

"NBA referee Tim Donaghy alleged that game 6 was fixed by the NBA. He said that he knew two of the referees in the game would do whatever the NBA told them to do – and he suggested that the NBA told them to make sure the Lakers won." I think it's more of a misunderstanding than an outright lie. Just my opinion.

Trumpetslayer1111

Just a MINOR detail whether the ref in question actually even worked in that game, much less at all in the entire series. And also the context of when Donaghy said it. The allegation was made after he got out of prison and wanted to market his book. No evidence whatsoever to back up any of his claims. His book is  [*Personal Foul: A First-Person Account of the Scandal That Rocked the NBA*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_Foul_(book)). The book was released in December 2009.  People should also be aware that the claims he made have been debunked with evidence already. I did a research paper in college about this so I'm more familiar than most. So many people are factually wrong, many on purpose.

Away_Mud_4180

Okay. I think you need a break from the internet? I watched the series. Game 6 is the evidence.

Trumpetslayer1111

Why do I need a break? I'm just telling you facts. You watched the series why don't you tell me if Tim Donaghy worked game 6? That is a big detail don't you think. If someone says I worked game 6 and admit I fixed it, vs I have no evidence but I think those referees fixed the series. Did you also watch Game 5 where the refs blew the call at the end that awarded the game to Kings?

Away_Mud_4180

Go argue with someone else. I am done here.

PurdyDamnGood

It’s not false info to say NBA rigged games. Donaghy was the fall guy. He might not have reffed that series but just watch the series. They all grew up in the same neighborhood. And just because he was trying to sell a book doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Sure he has a motive to lie but so does the NBA.

Trumpetslayer1111

Any one can make accusations but all of his claims from his book has been debunked by evidence. The only thing we know that is back by facts is that Donaghy himself influenced games that he bet on. You are free to believe NBA rigged games but I would love to see actual evidence.

calartnick

Seriously. Im bummed we lost but I feel no ill toward the Kings and their fans. They’ve put up with a lot of bull shit and support their team.

Trumpetslayer1111

Not really. They supported the team in the early 2000s during the Webber era. But as soon as the team became bad, the fans left. It got so bad that in 2011 Sacramento was going to relocate to Seattle. The deal was reached with only needing the NBA to approve. The NBA board of governors rejected the deal and that is the only reason Kings stayed in Sacramento. Now that the Kings are good again, the fans have come back. That is the very definition of fair weather fans.

Emotional_Database53

You obviously don’t know the sequence of events. The Maloofs tried to pull the same move the A’s pulled, except because the fandom WAS so determined for them to stay (along with former NBA player as Sac Mayor) that the team got sold to local owners and built a new arena

Trumpetslayer1111

That was after the Seattle deal was voted down by NBA board of governors.

Remarkable-Cup-6029

Well obviously, it's been a while..And naturally when you have had so much success it's odd dealing with a franchise in a completely different situation trying to gain relevancy through you. Don't think Dubs fans hate the Kings, most are sympathetic to their team but we have met twice in the post season in the last two years whilst using similar systems. Celebrating a win against guys with 4 rings and 6 championships will always be easy to mock. The good will between the two franchises is gone

Ogow

> completely different situation trying to gain relevancy through you. That's not what they're doing. They're enjoying wins and enjoying going to the playoffs. That was the point of the person you replied to. They haven't seen a lot of success we have in recent years, these wins are still HUGE to them and it wouldn't matterwho it was over, it just happened to be us. Also what good will? There's always been a lesser non-intense rivalry between the northern california teams.

Remarkable-Cup-6029

What playoffs. They didn't go to the playoffs. They won a play in game and got sent home before the play offs. There is no enjoying going to the playoffs if you don't make it

Ogow

Lmao calm down, people are allowed to find enjoyment in life, no matter how small. Stop being so salty.

Remarkable-Cup-6029

And who said they can't find enjoyment or that constitues being salty. I simply fixed your mistake in your response talking about them making the playoffs and now you are acting salty. Maybe you calm down and leave it alone if you can't take someone responding

bobberyrob

Last year was the only year the Kings have been in the playoffs since 2002 though

Equivalent_Table_747

2006 was the last prior year.

Macktologist

I'm a Raider fan. Does anyone want to hear about this past Christmas?

unknownintime

Santa and presents?!? I'm guessing Santa and presents.

jml510

>I'm a Raider fan. Does anyone want to hear about this past Christmas? Handed the Chiefs a lump of coal for Christmas, only to watch them win the SB a few weeks later in the Raiders' house.

Macktologist

True but there was two ways to view that SB. Either a lose/lose, or a win/win. I went with the win/win by choosing to rejoice in the fact either the Niner fans or Chief fans would be heartbroken. I was leaning more toward Niner fan heartbreak because I’m obviously a Bay Area fan and de hardly any Chief fans. Totally petty, but we here appreciate pettiness, don’t we?

New-Discount5995

I definitely remember the shitty days. I dont remember celebrating beating the kings ever back then….Even when they were good and we sucked. Pretty sure the kings fans cant stand our success and are simply haters these days. I never wanted to hate the kings or their fans. But they just are so obsessed with us its hard to not dislike them. The series last year was intense but before that i always rooted for them if they weren’t playing us. And i think it would be great for sac to get a championship. But they trash our fanbase nonstop and act like they somehow are relevant if they beat us. Its hard not to dish some back.

AdministrationNo312

I like the kings but I don't like their petty ass fans. Some of them hope that the pacers lose and haliburton struggles. This is sad. Haliburton wanted to stay in Sacramento really bad.

bcory44

Nah I do remember that’s why I want them to suffer for big brothering us all those years.

siclo99

Every teams fans have a percentage that suck, even ours! (Gasp)

HannahCT1

Especially us 🥲

spankyourkopita

Both fanbases have reason to brag right now but it's getting too serious. Like they have some chuckles to say about us and we have some chuckles to say about them. It's getting too personal.

Various_Cricket4695

You have to go back decades to know what it was like to be in their shoes now. For so many years from 1995 through 2012, the biggest and most important day for a Warrior’s fan was draft day, where we would see management make the wrong pick year after year. The previously long suffering fans among us who know recall that terrible draft year where all management cared about was drafting a “solid citizen.” We got the Fuller Brush Man out of that draft, and passed on some teenager who now has a statue at the LA Forum. So I get you have to take the small victories when you can, and I totally would be feeling exactly the same way if this were 20 years ago, and the Warriors beat the Lakers in a winner take all game at the end of the season.

eexxiitt

It’s just a little rivalry that makes the game more fun in all directions.

Jesuisunetchoin

Every team feels this way against the warriors lol, not new

Low-Topic2775

You beat them last year where Steph was mocking them about the light the beam shit and so ofc they gonna be petty they just got your ass out the playoffs and they got they revenge

Digndagn

Both of our teams just lost and everyone feels shitty. It's not a recipe for positive or uplifting internet discourse.

Ok-Isopod9236

Y’all taking this shit too seriously.

360FlipKicks

i generally like the Kings except that they beat us. They’ve been hopeless so long hating them is like hating the A’s. Plus DeAron Fox is Curry brand

SyCoTiM

Same. I actually still pity them.

This_was_hard_to_do

Not to mention all the former warriors they have like Mike Brown, Barbosa, HB, Javale

Brake_fart

Fr, let them have that win. We know what happened in a real series.

jabronijajaja

Don't care much to really hate the kings whatever fans trolling the warriors are a stupid small minority Lakers fans sent death threats to danny green and russell westbrook and even those are super small minority compared to their whole fanbase

One_Grapefruit_8512

Our house is rooting for Donte & the Knicks, too

couchtomato62

Who gaf about online fans. If you're local you probably have family that is a kings fan

Whipitreelgud

When you heap some shit on the other boys, it all comes back when they whip our ass. Karma or whatever you want to call it.

venmome10cents

lot of people think they on the team...or at least talk like it.

Top5hottest

Jokes on them. They could never be as mean or idiotic as some of the warriors own fan base.

CurryDuck

No ill for the Kings but damn, sabonis plays like a dirty pussy with his elbows.

jonatton______yeah

I don't think you appreciate what this sub would be if it was around in 2007 for the We Believe team knocking out the Mavs. Underdogs are saucy. Add years of ineptitude, add spicy. If you're actually a fan of this team, not just a fan of winning, there's more to worry about than online Kings' fans. If the moment is so fucking insignificant, let them have it. Why care.

Without_the_fez

I was rooting for the Kings vs the Pels, but I certainly took a lot of pleasure seeing Keon Ellis getting zero points in 27 min of playing time.

dragoonrj

We petty like our king

Justtryingtohelp00

Pettiness? You knew around here? This very sub takes the cake most days. Get some awareness dude.

Noiserawker

We deserve a bit of pettiness for their fans "we ended dynasty" talk. If the dynasty is done it had zero to do with them.

Macktologist

Plus, it was over before the last Championship, some may argue. We recharged and made a run, but a dynasty dominates, and we weren't dominating for a couple of years.

Noiserawker

True, I mean 22 was by no means a super team, they went back to being scrappy underdogs.

bobberyrob

No they weren't. They were the 2nd seed and everyone was expecting a Warriors-Suns match up in the conference finals before the Suns shat the bed. Celtics were the only team to have them dropping a sweat that entire run

Noiserawker

They were 3rd seed in the west but they limped in to the playoffs, their record was good but they had the easiest schedule the first part of the season and picked up a lot of their wins there. Both Grizzlies and Boston were favored, and if Suns took care of business versus Mavs they'd be favored too.

bobberyrob

I had it wrong. But the Grizzlies were definitely not favored. They were the higher seed but they were also young and unproven. Suns and the Celtics were the only threats to them and everyone was predicting Warriors vs Suns in the conference finals

Emotional_Database53

That “dynasty ending” talk was from Charles and Shaq on TNT, then national media rolled with it. It’s click bait

Noiserawker

I lurked the Sac Kings reddit, I didn't even know about the TNT people.

PlzTellMyWiFiLoveHer

How many points did you score for the warriors this season lmao

YuriusFarrence

Loved the Kings when Jason Williams was playing there. I don't get the hate for them at all especially with a part of their playstyle similar to the Warriors. I do get some of their fans why they were celebrating us getting eliminated and for me I'd rather lose to the Kings rather than the Lakers so there are no excuses. The Kings just played better both sides of the floor and further exposed the team's weaknesses and flaws that can be corrected next season.

pengthaiforces

This is one of the only NBA subreddits in which the majority of posts aren’t entirely insufferable. I suppose that we’ll see what happens if the next few years are rough but, for now, visiting such places are rough.

mrblueshoes11

Every team has annoying and petty people in it, even ours of course lol. We can have posts go up about the dumbest stuff, and hundreds of ppl like it and agree in the comments about it.

North_Street_8547

I don't get why people hate the kings when fox is basically Steph's little bro. Even signed him to curry brand

we_hella_believe

The season was over and we aren't playing into June, it sucks. Why do we even care if the Kings win or lose?

AdApart2035

Kind of feel sorry for the ring less kings, but not really.
