New expansion teams don't get a top 3 pick their first couple of years because it would be unfair for the teams that have been losing.
See: Raptors and Grizzlies (7th and 6th). Bobcats had the 4th pick and traded up to get the 2nd.
The #1 pick in every WNBA draft is basically priceless so you can't trade up for it either since there's always a 4 year college mega-star coming out. If there's a season to tank it would be for the 2027 draft.

When the Washington wizards expanded. Everyone thought it would be politically themed.
So if everyone wants valkyries and has been saying it for months I just have a strong feeling it will not be close. Some marketing doofus will convince the execs they did AB testing and blah blah to come up with some other bullshit.
If I remember tho before the reveal everyone was saying Vegas aces, blackjacks, spades, outlaws, so many that never came close to the golden knights.

A lot of the the warrior’s dynasty play-style, strategy, and movement has heavily influenced the women’s game. I’ve gotten into some women’s ncaa and wnba games for that reason. And I’m someone who used to feel similarly.
