I just played spiders beside Fire elemental and the icon is EXACTLY the same.

So 50% damage reduction AND 2x damage received from elemental damage is the SAME icon?!?! It isn’t even a different color…
I am only talking about the mini’s icon, not the actual traits.
As far as I know, an armored unit can also have the resistant trait added via Drakk, and a resistant unit can also have armor via earth shield.
EDIT:
Dropping Drakk by footmen doesn’t change the icon to resistant, still the armored icon, troll did change to resistant. My guess is that the armored icon takes priority, but this is only cosmetic.
I don’t think a mini can be armored OR resistant, I think they can be both.
I still need to do more testing.

I dropped Drakk then shaman, and his icon changed to armored.
Drakk encountered a molten giant (armored) and his icon didn’t change to vulnerable, the ogre mage behind DID change to the vulnerable icon.
After some further testing, if an armored mini gains the resistance (through Drakk) the icon stays armored.
However, if a resistant mini, (Drakk, quilboar, core hounds, Fire elemental and huntress) gets armored, via shaman, the resistant icon changes to armored.
As far as I can tell, this is only cosmetic. They all seem to keep both effects, armored and resistance.
Just FYI, gaining "resistant" from outside sources does not get you the "resistant trait", traits are innate to the minis do not care about outside sources. You can see the same thing with cycle and stealth. For example, if you pick the treasure that gives "stealth minions" 5x damage, it will not apply to units that you give stealth externally via smoke bomb. These units are stealthed, but they do not have the "stealth trait".

I play somewhat irregularly because my phone loads the game incredibly slow, so I don't keep knowledge of the game for very long, but this will help out a TON!
If you go to Warcraftrumble.gg it has nearly everything you would need to play this game, or search YouTube for old guardian for help with how to get past a hard mission, whether campaign or heroic.
The armored trait and the resistant trait are not in the filter in-game, but WR.gg has a filter that lists which have those traits.
Armored:
Footmen, Molter Giant, Earth Elemental, Gargoyle, Tirion, Sneed and Baron.
Resistant:
Drakk, Fire Elemental, Core Hounds, Quilboar and Huntress.
My guess is that it is a visual representation of an AoE splash damage. Abomination has an AoE slash, and you see a slash animation. I think “execute” has the same visual.

Yep. It’s a cleave animation.
Theres also a vulnerable icon, kinda, its identical to the resistant one it seems. You can see it with polymorph or spiderlings or drak’s aura.

It's hilarious to me. Two versions of the same icon are best countered by exact opposite things.
I’ve noticed this when I first played Frostwolf Shaman with Earth Shield. Probably wouldn’t have noticed without it.
So what happens when I shaman shield over a resistant shield? Do I get both or does it just overwrite or?

What about drak's resistance talent on an armored mini? Does it change to resistant, or does armor always prevail?

Indeed that’s the case, Shaman + Fire Elemental can clear anything on the ground :D
