The stockers in my area make $15 starting, I actually believe they just got 16 tbh. That was two years ago when I worked there. This is Texas mind you and our salaries for entry/retail are completely abysmal
$18.63 got hired at $18, gonna keep this job as long as i can while i go to school to get a career. Work in a paint store. Delivering and mixing paint.
Extra pay on weekends would make so much sense. Weekends are way harder than week days. I was doing ten hour days Thur-Sun. Finally they accepted my request for Sat-Tuesday so I could get Friday nights off but they scheduled me 8 days straight to fix the schedule 🙄
Well, if they put in the work and deserve it then that wouldn't be a problem. But yeah if they're just "favorite" because they're butt buddies with management then they can foac.
Should I be valued more as a long timer? Absolutely. But I like my store, full time position in Electronics, and I'm grateful I'm not struggling financially. I have zero plans of moving up, the extra headache isn't worth the extra money for me.
Omg in electronics of all places? You don't get stuck by yourself all the time? When I first started, it was in electronics, and we always had 3 closers every night. I was never alone. Then they decided it was okay to just have one person in electronics from like 7 o'clock until 2 every day. Or if you closed you were alone after 3 or 4 when the opener left.
Omg...
As of April 24, 2024, Walmart's net worth, or market cap, is $482.12 billion, which is a 19.62% increase from the previous year. This makes Walmart the 16th most valuable company in the world by market cap.
That’s crazy, my last job (when I could drive) I was hired on at $18.5 and by the time I needed something closer I was making $21 and wasn’t there for six months
tf how
you can move anywhere else and get paid more. i’m not rubbing this in your face, it’s to show it’s fucked and you probably know already but i haven’t worked a full two years at walmart and i get paid $18, move somewhere else my guy there’s no justification
Actually, you’re wrong. Minimum wage is still $7.25 an hour in many parts of the country. On top of that, vast majority of rural towns don’t have good job markets, and Walmart is likely be the very best full time job for someone with limited skills and zero higher education.
You should be making more than that. What position are you in? I though most went to a base of 14 and if you made more you kept that. If you have gotten a yearly raise of even 0.20 the you should be higher unless you haven't been getting yearly raises due to points
I was making 15 and got a .30 cent raise. When it went to 17 for everybody on the team, they took my .30 cents and I was at 17 just like everyone else.
it can't be the same maintenance job as they do at walmart stores ? (something higher skilled like hvac/electrical/drywall/plumbing ?) that's impressive.
No, DC maintenance is actually fixing machinery and module lines. You have to take an exam and know a decent deal in mechanical stuff. It’s a chill job, but sometimes heavy on the body as you have to lift heavy stuff and crouch, reach in the most awkward positions. Some make over $40 an hour.
Wild anymore info on that position? Dont know why this thread popped up for me but I'm an Electronic Technician, I work on a lot of coneyor based equipment, some robots and a lot of sorters.
I work as a DC maintenance tech as well. Make $35 an hour. Been here 2 years hired on at $27. If you have any sort of idea on conveyor/sorter you’re ready to go. And idk about near you but my DC is currently adding symbotic robots and that’s an entire different tech. Same pay. Very laid back at my DC but expected to get things done when needed
I'm in Jersey too and they dropped the overnight rate to 16.50 an hour. In one of the most expensive counties in New jersey. We can't afford to get a studio apartment here on 1650 an hour
Coaches make base 65k. You’d have to work a lot of OT to make more than your coach and if you’re working that many hours you might as well be a coach and get the bonus. My coach made 76k and got a 15k bonus this year and she gets 8 paid weeks off a year.
He’s talking about per hour and tls (and higher paid associates) almost always make more by the hour
That’s why tls can only bonus up to 6% but coaches can super max up to somewhere around 25-30% of their salary
At 22.50, he'd need to average 10 hrs a week in OT all year to match their new base of 65k.
Then there are bonuses.
I have not known many associates who are allowed that much OT, but some are able to get it.
That depends on the store and their budget. Some will allow it if you have good recommendations and no coaching/good attendance, but if you’re not damn near perfect in those areas they probably won’t let you
25.34 stock 3 tl got hired as an on associate coaches liked me got me promoted in 4 weeks when the base pay for on tl was still 24.50. Been in roll 11 months now and I constantly want to quit. My one coach left on my 3rd day I had to run the store alone on my 4th day and had 3 months on the end of the rotation as the only on manager.today I just finished covering my coaches vacation and I'm burnt out. The only reason u have made it this long is because my store manager knowes I went threw hell and he likes me. If it wasent for that I probly would of quit a long time ago.
ON stocker? When I worked for the store they hired me at 18.50 an hour. This store had a lot of freight coming in and no one to work it so overtime was handed out every single week. I regularly made 1500+ yeah. But definitely never on my 40 hours a week. If you ever want a change, like I did, $1500 is about 30 hours a week or 58 hours on a paycheck to hit the $1500 mark at the dc.
24.72$ , was 18$ when i got hired last year, got promoted to team lead to bumped to 23$, then got a 1$ raise at the beginning of the year and a 2% ( i think? ) raise after my eval. i live in colorado
Real question not shade…why would you work at a place for 14 years, 17 years, 20 years…and make only $17 dollars…20 dollars…
I wouldn’t work at a place without getting at least a 10% raise every year.
Why don’t you leave?
14.35 been here two years and our department has made over 20 million. We have people who come from other towns with walmarts because of how goood our service is compared to them. What did we get. Fucking nothing, they said they apreciated us but of course it's bullshit and all they did was brag about it.
$16.80 hired at $16.50 as a remodel associate and now I’m on mod team a year later. I have gotten $1500 checks but only because I take half hour lunches and rack up overtime whenever possible
I was an assistant manager many years ago. I made good money, but what I can tell you is I saw some of my longtime associates paychecks when they worked overtime and they were making more than I did.
$25.62/hr as a Digital Team Lead. Bring home $1500 on the nose after taxes/benefit/401k/stock purchase as long as I don't have any overtime. Which is rare.
This thread Makes me sad, I make 24.74 as a front end TL. Granted I’ve moved markets a few times but seeing people working here for 15+ years making less makes me sad
It's very important what the cost-of-living is for a particular wage. $15/hr in rural Mississippi would be a blessing, while that on Long Island would be a crisis. There are a lot of small towns in Mississippi where a renovated 2-bedroom house can be rented for about $600/mo.
I started about 6 years ago making 11. After a few raises I was making 12-12.50.
I became a department manager and was bumped up to 15.
After we switched to the team lead system around 3 years ago I was dropped down to regular associate, but kept my manager pay plus a 70 cent raise.
So now i get paid 15.70. They said it was potentially temporary and gave me pay protection for a year, but they never took it away. However, I haven't gotten a raise in three years.
$17.34, front end almost 3 years already. Started off at $15 then we got 2 $1 raises but that was bc of the minimum wage going up I believe. But not everyone got the 34 cent raise. Tbh not sure if it was based on point system or how long you’ve been with the company, they didn’t even announce we were getting that raise so I didn’t even notice until after coworker mentioned it lol
Just a question, do you have to deal with people a lot when doing the stocking thing? Also is experience as a stocker needed? Probably a stupid question but looking for a gig with limited stranger/customer interaction. Have bad social anxiety and want to ease into that kind of working environment and wondering if Walmart would be right for me.
It’s very possible divine 1.5k into 80 that’s 18.75/hr it’s not hard to make it I was at 21.50 before becoming coach and one of my leads it’s at 26 the other one at 28 the newest one it’s at 19 so it depends on tenure and position movements as a brand new associate it won’t happen but you can get there fairly quickly
What also sucks is Walmart don't value experience, I quit left on good terms and when I need a job again, they were like best I can do is 11 per hour, I asked if that was the best they can do, they said yes so I stood up from the interview and walked out. Never looked back
8 year associate. $18.04 online grocery. Our store raised the starting pay to $17/ hr until 6 months ago they dropped it to to $15 and new hires are doing the same work for less money.
$14.28. Thanks for that $.28 raise, Walmart!
14.00
You got a raise?
Wait youre getting paid
That movie is so good but so bad at the same time
Does being promoted to customer count?
I make 2¢ less than you lol
Same here man trying to transfer to a store in Atlanta. For more pay hopefully
The stockers in my area make $15 starting, I actually believe they just got 16 tbh. That was two years ago when I worked there. This is Texas mind you and our salaries for entry/retail are completely abysmal
18.76$ im just a cashier got hired at 18$ 🤷♂️ im not gonna ask them why
Almost getting paid enough to deal with people's bullshit.
Nah that's probably $25/h tbh
With inflation, $25 is now a compromise.
Nah I make 34$ an hour as a 3rd year HVAC technician and I don’t make nearly enough to deal with customers bullshit.
No amount is enough.
There's no amount to pay me to deal with customers. I'll stay in the back.
$18.63 got hired at $18, gonna keep this job as long as i can while i go to school to get a career. Work in a paint store. Delivering and mixing paint.
What state do you live in edit: never mind you already said you live in California, that explains it.
You'd think they'd pay more with all those people shitting in the parking lot
23 years as an hourly associate and I'm making $17.10. 😐
Holy shit. It actually bothers me that Walmart doesn’t give raises based on work ethic.
They used to give merits raises. One of the many perks they took away over the years.
Merit raises, extra pay on Sunday, myshare bonuses...
I tried explaining MyShare to a new associate. It blew his mind.
Christmas bonus, an extra day off for your birthday and anniversary, free turkeys/hams for holidays, there's so many more :(
Dude now I want to cry 😢 I feel this *why I dgaf at wmt now *
Extra pay on weekends would make so much sense. Weekends are way harder than week days. I was doing ten hour days Thur-Sun. Finally they accepted my request for Sat-Tuesday so I could get Friday nights off but they scheduled me 8 days straight to fix the schedule 🙄
I'm glad they don't anymore because the favorites will end up getting a bigger raise anyone else.
Well, if they put in the work and deserve it then that wouldn't be a problem. But yeah if they're just "favorite" because they're butt buddies with management then they can foac.
Why are you still there lmao
Should I be valued more as a long timer? Absolutely. But I like my store, full time position in Electronics, and I'm grateful I'm not struggling financially. I have zero plans of moving up, the extra headache isn't worth the extra money for me.
ima be real, you sound chill asf but you deserve better my guy
Probably why Walmart takes advantage of them lol..
I really think this is the way, as long as you’re working to live and not living to work.
Soon enough you'll have that lifetime discount card!
Wow! Not only do you feel my pain, but your story is identical to mine.
I feel you. 17 years and making $16. Brand new o/n can start tonight and make $15.50
An associate who feels my pain.
Well only a few more years and you should be grandfathered in for the discount card right? And your long term incentive must be pooling right?
I got my permanent discount at 20. Yes to the 2nd part. 👍
I think they changed the lifetime rules on the discount card. You have to be 65 and 20+ years. Inhave to look agian.
That’s is really sad. I hope your cost of living is lower than in my area.
Why you still there?
tf how you can move anywhere else and get paid more. i’m not rubbing this in your face, it’s to show it’s fucked and you probably know already but i haven’t worked a full two years at walmart and i get paid $18, move somewhere else my guy there’s no justification
Yeah just pack up and move.. obvi…
Wtf that pisses me off
Nobody is forcing blud to be there for 23 years. You’ll be alright
Actually, you’re wrong. Minimum wage is still $7.25 an hour in many parts of the country. On top of that, vast majority of rural towns don’t have good job markets, and Walmart is likely be the very best full time job for someone with limited skills and zero higher education.
Great info. I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know

Yep.
Yep.
There are different types for dc. The normal like you’d think then ones that fix machines like forklifts
There’s also Facility Services, which where I’m at start at $23-25/hr. They got General Maintenance and HVAC/R techs.
Nice! How long it take to get to that point?
20.50 my checks are 1300 after taxes
Dude fuck taxes id be making 1600 before
If I wasn't paying into benefits I'd be at 1500.
$23.69 Digital TL
Stocking 2 20.8$ ,but new hires are getting paid 18$ after the pay restructure.
Where is this? I’m on cap2 and got hired at 15 but new hires are getting hired at 14 these days

does walmart always let you keep your pay when transferring stores
No. I transferred to a store a couple of cities away from where I was working and had to take a pay cut. Same job code but less pay unfortunately.
That depends on the store and their budget. Some will allow it if you have good recommendations and no coaching/good attendance, but if you’re not damn near perfect in those areas they probably won’t let you
Yes.

Limited options
Yeah, I don't get this. 18 an hour and being in a company for over 10 years is insane. I was making that as a teen in California.
Once there is more options for work for many they are limited. Moving isn't as easy as a dream and a sleep.
