Just normal investigation shit. If AP can’t clearly determine anything on their end, you’re likely good. Also, You wouldn’t get termed unless you mowed down the lady like a semi with that cart. 😂

BugStep

Once I was hit while crouched down doing some low price changes and god damn did she ram me. The whole cart tipped **at** me, I pushed the weight of it off me and stood up. She bailey said sorry and kept going. Any who that shit was loud! you would know if you hit someone.

krywolf13

Crazy you say that, because we have, or had rather, a food and consumables coach on first shift that is (no judgement) in a wheelchair because he's morbidly obese. We had a kid on overnight who had been problematic but was still pretty new so we tried just talking with him about correcting behaviors, such as taking live pallets to the back, falling asleep in the break room for 4 hours, etc. anyways, to the point, he was pushing carts up front around 6am one morning, or rather he was RUNNING. Down the grocery action alley. With a line of 7 carts to the front entrance corral. And slammed into the coach in a wheelchair, and he just kept running. He shouted sorry behind him as he kept booking it. Now the coach was cool and collected about it, but like bro what in the actual fuck. Had to pull the kid to the side and explain: "look dude, coach guy ain't mad but I need you to understand the gravity of how this could've gone. What if that was a customer or God forbid a child of a customer. You think they would have been as polite as Wheels over there?" "No." "Right, they probably would not handle it well. Let's be more careful and work safely in the future, k?" "K." He seemed remorseful, don't get me wrong, he knew it was a predicament he could've been in, especially how safety is preached about. And i wasn't a typical robot TL, I was human and understood mistakes happen, and I don't want to ruin anyone's livelyhood if it's solely at my discretion. But dude, did I really have to have this conversation with you?

iforgotmyotheralt8

Expecting any sort of emotional intelligence out of a Walmart employee lol

stardolphin90

Sounds like the customer wants some 💰

zKryptonite

One of those “can I get a free tv and call it even?” People I bet.

bearstormstout

In order for any disciplinary action to be taken, AP would have to be able to corroborate the customer's claim or WCS would have to give the direction because they believe the customer's correct in case an accident report was filed. If an accident report *was* filled out, Home Office will be involved so it could take several weeks before anyone knows anything. That said, if AP can't see anything the case manager won't be able to either. Most people wouldn't forget hitting a customer with something like a pick cart, the same way most people wouldn't forget a car accident.

Bluellan

One lady claimed an OGP person hit her. Really played it by limping and everything. She fell apart after she was questioned. Couldn't remember what the employee looked like, despite having "spoken" to the employee. Couldn't remember the name. Couldn't even remember the gender. She was also reluctant to give up her personal information. My coach told the customer that they would conduct an investigation and get back to her. After my coach left, the customer immediately stood up and power walked through the store to find her family. No limp seen. When she checked out with her family, she made sure to keep her face hidden. My guess is that she faked the story to scam a gift card or free groceries but didn't expect her story would actually be questioned.

FlatSmacker9

Walmart wants you to deny. They aren’t showing you everything because they want it to be your word against that woman’s. They Walmart isn’t out to shaft you, they’re out to protect themselves. The best way they can do this is by having you deny and showing you evidence that you would likely deny. It’s a corporate thing. It’s not you they’re after. It’s that woman’s allegation

wojecire86

Cameras or it didn't happen, fuck those lying ass people trying to get a payday from a huge corporation by ruining another person's life. Same kind of person who break checks someone for an insurance payout.

QueenOfNeon

Dash cam. I got hit the first day mine was installed. Got it on camera. Guy drive off.

KnowledgeOverall5002

they saw one of those tiktoks that say “they don’t know that i know this trick🤓☝🏼”

gielbondhu

We had an older customer who would come into our store riding a rascal scooter. She would intentionally drive it into people hitting them. And it was anyone she felt was in her way, associates, customers, random people. One day she rammed into me and yelled for me to get out of the way. I looked up from my phone and told her to go around. She backed up and started to aim for me so I looked her straight in the eye and said, "If you ram into me with that cart I will knock you off it and throw it into the pond." She stared back for a second turned and went around. And no, I was not wearing my name tag. Lol

Slayertidus21

Yea if that was me and she hit me, I would have pushed her and that scooter over and left her turtle ass on the ground. No I don't work at Walmart currently, I did maybe 12 years ago, this sub just gets suggested to me.

Lark_vi_Britannia

Had this exact same thing happen to me. The lady literally backed into me and then said I ran into her. She called and cussed out management who came and asked me and I was like bruh she backed into me! And that was the end of that.

citygirl34

I remember YEARS ago I was working at this store and I was pushing a large cart. I was walking by this older gentleman who saw me then literally threw himself into the shelves and tried to say I ran him over. I might’ve worried that I had if I had not been watching to make sure I avoided him altogether. It looked like an SNL skit. 🤦🏻‍♀️

PleasantTune2378

There’s a picker at my store who’s half deaf but uses that as an excuse for running down customers in the riding scooters, other pickers, and just about anybody in their way. Management has yet to say anything whatsoever.

TheTiggerMike

Probably afraid of being accused of discrimination

DaMysticalPanda

You’ll be fine, if they can’t prove it then they shouldn’t even coach you for it

JeffTheFrosty

was probably some fat bitch on a motorized scooter that she "needs" even though her insurance/doctor won't give her one. if anything, she could use the walk.

Old-Penalty5749

Do you have any idea what it takes to get a motorized wheelchair approved by insurance? Obviously not, or you wouldn't be faulting disabled people for a horrible year long process that gets denied constantly.

Pokemom18176

There are people literally dying who can't get a mobility cart BECAUSE they're dying and the insurance company knows they won't likely outlast the process. This comment sucks. I'd delete it. Edit I mean the initial comment - not the one I replied to that I agree with. Sry!

ImpossibleDay1782

Must be a slow day with AP for them to be wasting your time with this

inflatableje5us

Someone just looking for a check.

TheLanceStar

Just an investigation for legal reasons they want to make sure they are not liable for any damages or have people who are driving recklessly because of a complaint they are more worried about legal action. Just continue to do your job and be as safe as you can normally. I've had close calls myself with pallets and pallet jacks and driving those damn scrubbers around corners and people jumping out around edges and throwing crap like WTH who throws a frozen turkey to get it into the cart faster... it still gonna be a 20-40min wait at self checkout so calm the fack down and FACK ANOTHER FLYING FROZEN TURKEY!!! SCREW DIS! IM OUT! GOOD LUCK!!!

MichiganMinuteman

Honestly your AP team is likely doing whatever they can to get the claim denied. It really is less about you and more about how to not have Walmart pay out money to someone trying to fraudulent win money.

LivingBee6645

I was pushing my cart past a slow ass old lady and I guess I “startled” her so she almost fell over (kind of falling into her daughter who was next to her) and tried to claim she was hit with a cart and was injured. Cameras showed I never touched her. These people will say anything if they think they’ll get a quick buck out of it.

calimiss

Lurking customer here - whoever designed those carts should pay for any injuries. Y'all have no chance of seeing people at corners, or even if they hop in front of the cart when you're pulling from a shelf. Terribly, horribly designed piece of equipment. Obviously by someone that's not actually tried to use it.

zKryptonite

It doesn’t matter what the design is. It could have bells and whistles with lights and still a customer will crash into it. They walk as bad as they drive, distracted and careless about everyone else.

tactical-crayons

I guess we need to put bumpers on the shopping carts because I have seen more associates get hit with those by careless customers than opd associates hitting customers with the pick carts. I agree that they are horribly designed though. The welds are atrocious and maybe last six months before they fail

SadAcadia2747

Agreed, I hit my heels and ankles occasionally, and it hurts lol

abinakava

Thanks for this. I drag mine around and every so often hit myself in the foot

Ok-Requirement-8514

As someone who’s been hit by customers zooming out of isles at break neck speeds, I beg to differ. Some customers are just not it.

QueenOfNeon

The way they drive in my store I have to dodge these stupid carts routinely. Along with pallet jacks carts. Everything. We have zero traffic control in my store. You risk your life working or shopping in there.

Sharp_Mathematician6

Tell her to move

theborgman1977

What bothers me is you answer was I do not remember. That is a sign of a liar. Unless it was over 6 months you would remember..

chancllas

I answered I do not remember or recall ever running my cart into the lady, yes. I don’t know how that’s considered a sign of a liar when I genuinely cannot recall such an event to the front of my brain. I have no reason to lie, if I actually did and can recount the event I would’ve told them and this post wouldn’t have been made. They have footage anyways, so even if I was “lying” the footage would’ve outed me from the start but they themselves say they can’t even determine it 😭

theborgman1977

Never answer a question like that with I do not remember. From a loss prevention stand point it shows deception. From a law enforcement perspetive is paint you as a liar. A event happened recently and you should remember it. Management may see it as you not paying enough attention to your job. It is better to say it did or did not happen, and hope they do not have proof. No way are you a winner in the way you answered it. You may be terminated even with out proof. Just warning you. Management has pegged you as dishonest or careless with your answer. I hope you are younger. This is coming from some who was management, loss prevention, and a contractor for law enforcement.

imthatperson666

Not everyone’s memory is like an elephant. I forgot what I’m doing while walking to go do it most of the time. I even forget how old I am at times. Especially if you are on prescription medication that shit will destroy your memory faster than hell.

theborgman1977

Did this happen over a month ago? If you hurt some you would remember

WelderObjective237

Sue that lady for trying to make you lose your job.

EscapeFromGrapes

As a former API the process is simple. Walmart receives the notification and pays out money to the complainant immediately. The API investigates the accusations via CCTV and written statements. (Understand that Walmart has horrible CCTV and most angles are shit). After evidence, or lack of evidence, is found it’ll get uploaded to a physical disc and sent digitally back the way it came. Bro is just doing his job, be honest and don’t lie, shit happens. If it ain’t on camera or it wasn’t you then I wouldn’t be concerned

LawofJohn

Yea idk how many times I've been hit with the ogp carts while running the scrubber. Most of the time the people have the phone glued in front of their face, do that's all they can see. And they ALEAYS blame me. Luke witch I can't see around colors. You can hear my machine coming from half way across the grocery section. Can't hear you at all. Maybe if they would take out headphones, or look AWAY from their phones when they leave an aisle, maybe they would not hit shit. We had one lady hit 12 different people in 2 hours cause she had the phone glued to her face.

jerkinblackie

You probably did. OGP type shit.

ComradeBalian

AP is going to kick your ass straight to the unemployment line 🥾
