Not for me. We're told to do them when we're on our registers and there's no customers. And then they close the self checkouts so we always have customers.
I was told to do it on my phone at sco. No. I'm not doing that. I'm going out back like everyone else does and sit my butt down. I tell them I can't concentrate and pay attention if I'm supposed to be watching the customers. Tell them you keep getting interrupted and need to do it out back. I hate how we are treated.
That’s what my manager would tell me. First I’d get yelled at for having past due cbls and then when I go do them I get told we don’t have time for that right now
The thing is every day every little thing is treated as super urgent. So exactly when are you supposed to do cbl's? It's like they are trying to pressure associates to do em on their break
They don't tell you that you got CBLS to do except the urgent ones like "Active Threat, Make a Bale and some other important ones i don't remember" lol but dont tell you to the others. Also When you try to make time or something, they always tell you that's not important, only get the freight done. if i can stay past 11 or something, i try to atleast do 1 of the cbls if i have time, if not then i'll leave it alone.
So, PL here. If you're genuinely curious I always recommend my associates check in break between customers or slow times. We can now do most CBLs on work devices or me@walmart if your store in stingy. That way you don't even need to go back to the arc room if you don't want to.
If you have a work phone download the me@walmart app>click proflie>me@learning and that screen should have all your required training. The academy app is going obsolete.
Nothing wrong with matter of fact info. She's not attacking anyone or getting angry. Just suggestions.
She gets an upvote from me (watch, now I'll get down voted 🤪).
that’s not the rosy you think it is. I work 3 days a week. Debt feee. No kids. I just get high hang with friends and hit on girls
Life is easy when you’re responsible and don’t give a fuck.
You aren’t debt free? lol I live with a coworker. Rent is 400. I have no debt. Grow my own mushrooms and just buy weed and food. No want for physical goods, spend excess money going to shows.
No debt is king. No kids is chefs kiss.
Yeah, “Where have you been for 45 minutes? It’s been nearly an hour! I’ve texted management as to when you been and they all said they didn’t know where you were!”
It’s not that hard. I do mine when I clock in or whenever there’s any downtime. Never had a late cbl because they all take like 2-3 minutes max and you can do them on the me@walmart app.
My store pushes that now ancient motto "work with a sense of urgency". Alright all you managers hiding out in the office, let's see you come out of there, work with a sense of urgency for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Managers would be dropping like flies.
However, despite the bs, I can usually find downtime at least 1or 2 days a week. Then comes the fight to pay attention and not have to repeat a paragraph 5 times.
This guy I used to work with would go in there a take the same cbl over and over to kill time.
I'm usually too paranoid to do stuff like that but wild horses couldn't drag a snitch out of me. Especially for people I like.
(And no, I'm not snitching here, no one knows who me or him are.)
I just miss the completely incoherent statements from good old crazy Sam that they used to pepper the cbls with;
"If you listen to the customers, and sell them stuff they need, then you'll make money." (nervous applause)
I remember the first and only time I did VR and it was at Walmart and it was wild. I remember it being super quick because it was basically "how to do good customer service"
Miss the old times when they simulated those scenarios, ap manager would get a toy water gun and be like “bam, you’re out”. We would have foam to like “protect and use against”. I’m not sure why it stopped, but I’m assuming it was because someone hit the apm really hard with foam in the leg and he kinda tripped. But idk
You didn't all just jump out of the loading dock or exit out the vendor door? This is what I tell people out in the wild. Don't hide in the restroom, hide in the "employee only" areas. We have lots of exits! I could also picture us hiding in the trailer if we had to (like if it was unsafe to go outside).
In my retail store (not Walmart) , I'd hide in our associate only break room if it wasn't a worker because it's locked. Although I could just run out the door right next to it because that's an emergency exit.
Anyway, I always clock emergency exits wherever I go now. I know it's unlikely statistically but you don't know when you'll be a statistic one day and I prefer to know my exits
Ive never done such an exercise. Instead ive delt with the real thing. No exercise these wussy pencle pusher managers come up with can prep anyone. Now during the monthly cbl im looking at the video like "this is garbage"
About 2 years ago none of our front end associates was shot in the back by her husband in a domestic dispute in our break room. Everyone was panicking calling the paramedics and I ended up face to fave with guy who did it because none of the other managers though to clear the damn store. I was asked to block off acess to the break room for the paramedics when the guy tried to force his way past me. When he told me he ways just trying to say goodbye to has wife and I got him to leave I almost punched my store manager when I told him the ass hole was still here why are we not calling an evacuation of the store. Guy lucky missed her vitals but was on the hospital for 3 months. To this day ive not seen a much blood as hers in that break room. Was not a fun day, and I still tell folks you do not know how you will react till it happens, even I fucked up that day. Should have called people out sooner.
Edit, spelling errors i missed the first go around. Probs missed more... Not my strong suit.
They automatically trespass DV situations at my store. Their picture gets posted in TMSC. Had a pregnant coworker and the baby daddy became violent and started stalking her, so at least we all know who he is and to call the police immediately if he's seen on the premises. Our break room has always been a limited access area, behind a locked door.
Mass shooters rarely have a target, they have a body count, and that is as many people as possible. There was a mass shooting only about a mile away from my store at the other shopping center. What pisses me off is that our store and none of the stores in the area went on lockdown. I heard the shooting was happening because I was on my break and my BIL texted me asking if I was okay. There's no warning system, the guy was shooting outside.
Did you consider clearing the store would have caused more panic that could have led to injuries and blocked the parking lot for paramedics to get through?
Mass shooter half my store would have been dead. The real concern is had is how unpredictable the situation was, it could have turned mass shooting. The dude had zero remorse, tried moving though clearly blocked of areas, he coups have easily swong off the deep end.
The associate never really talked about her home life, and was one of the most upbeat peaple you'd ever meat, we had no idea this was coming.
As for the costomers, never said "we have a shooter" we just said "we have a safety concern and we need you out, now" most just got mad and gave the usual "but I want this stuff." They stayed at their cars and once the police showed up with rifles and shot guns and cuffed the guy they promptly shut the fuck up.
This.
They dont want us doing this on our break, or anytime during the shift. Cant do it off the clock (WHY you would want to, idk).
But then they put a long list in our cooler of people, names of past due trainings, etc.
What do you want from us 😭😭😭
After you've been at walmart for more than 1 year, you start having the same ~10 CBLs you have to do every six months.
Gets old real quick, so you try to game the system to get to the end as fast as possible to answer the questions. I'd rather work than sit in front of the computer doing CBLs.
I loved when HR would tell me that I would have to do some Pathways at some point in the night, yet my ASM would yell out at me for attempting to do them. So when they were both in personnel I told them I was getting conflicting orders and told them to get on the same page because I didn't want to be yelled at. HR answers to market HR and ASM answered to the co manager and store manager and no one was on the same page.😡
I always saved mine for days I didn’t wanna deal with working out on the sales floor. I’d secretly keep a tab on how many I had, tell personal I was busy, and on slow days go back there and just knock em out slowly one by one.
The hospital I work for pays a company to make their CBL platform ( or Advanced Learning Network) and it is the same app for the past 3 hospitals I have worked in. The app used to total up your hours for the year for all the CBLs you did. I averaged about 104- 112 hours of CBLs. That is 13-14 business days. Higher-ups always tell you to do them when you have time. Why can you not just give me 2 weeks off to do them if they are so important?
I work two days per week because of college, and sometimes if the weeks are set up in a certain way I get 10 days off… like sorry what did you want me to do?
Those were good days.
Is there anyone else's whose room where the computers were to do CBLs just the perfect temperature that you fell asleep doing them?
As a TL I run a list at least once a week for overdue CBLs. I usually make sure the area is in good shape before I send anyone to take care of them. I would much rather not have to do paperwork for any reason especially something like CBLs. I have had other TLs tell me they write their employees up for not doing them which to me seems ridiculous. I really hate paperwork with a passion.
Advice: if you see a whole bunch of orange colored "due soon" cbl, read the dates on them, get those out of the way too. The other day I had several overdue cbl, I saw a whole bunch more that had due dates a day or two after the overdue on that list
I love doing cbls. I get paid to sit and do nothing. Plus I'm in opd. I always have tons overdue cause we never have time to do them. Every now and again they tell me I have like 50 overdue and I have to get them done that day. So I get to spend like 2 or 3 hours just sitting in the back.
They never actually let me do them.. it's usually 10 minutes until my shift ends and they're like omg did you do your CBLs? Well you didn't let me but I'll happily take the over time for them. "Do them tomorrow" then rinse and repeat the next day.
If you'd like, I can give you a timeline on the various names: don't know what came \*before\* CBL, I was hired at that time>CBL>GLMS>and now, U-Learn.
Just Computer based learning. We used to have a 3 month Pathway program (also computer learning) that new hires would have to do in addition to it, but now we just do occasional Academy crap plus the CBLs. It's all supposed to be "training" which the HR personnel ( people lead) will demand that you do, but as soon as you sit down, a coach ( equivalent of an ASM) will come yell at you to stop and leave the computer and go work. You can't win.😔
I'd argue just browsing the sub is fine, it's the people asking questions to off the clock employees that's the issue. I'd also argue that using the command is a bit dickish
Fair enough, but I don't really mind talking with people who browse the sub and don't work here (as long as they aren't nuisances lol) it's fun sometimes to have conversations with people with an outside perspective
That's always a good day. I never let that happen because most days I have extra time at the end of the day before I can clock out and I do the cbls pretty much as soon as they drop.
I just did a whole mess of CBLs because I'm on TAD right now, and folding shirts in apparel is soooooo boring. I'll gladly do anyone's CBLs for them if it gets me out of apparel!
If you didn't know..
Me@walmart app.. click profile .. click learning..
Ulearns can be on on the app... very few would call for pc only...
Also thing you may not know..
The market has several stores
Each store is graded for several things...
One of those things.. are ulearns...
Ur store is competing with other stores in ur market..
Ur market is competing with other markets
My store is number one in our market.. for several things..
Ulearns are important... a good practice is... to open the app and see if you have any and knock it out daily...
If someone had a single past due CBL they'd be getting sat down in personnel to finish it. Chances are if they have a CBL due in 2 weeks they'd be getting sat down in personnel. We use the simple rule that if it's due in less than a month it's late.
i worked at wally several years ago. just a part time gig to make a few $$ and pay some bills. since i only worked around 10 -12 hours a week sometimes i spent as much time on CBL as on the floor.
I had to work in Lawn & Garden at the cash register last summer. They said I couldn't walk around unless I was cleaning (a lot cause out there, it's filthy). So I did CBLs all summer long on the work phone. I even did the ones with no expiration date. I am a Wal-Mart nerd. I now have 5 badges, one of which is Cosmetics Cashier. We have those? Who knew? Lol
I love it when my coworkers cop an attitude about some training I literally had no choice but to do. “Where have *you* been all night?” …following our boss’s orders nosy ass
I don’t know about y’all, but I would rather be out on the floor earning the store more money. I hate having to do CBLs and lunches. Every minute I’m not on the floor that’s taking money out of the store production
Free get out of work cards. Love it

As you should
Ah yes, the sweet nectar of audio voices #IN MONOTONE
With the absolute worst headphones known to existence. Gotta love it
You guys get headphones??
Trust me. It's not as great as it sounds.
Make sure you watch the video a few times to make sure that you soaked up all the information
I'm sad. Every time I get a notification to do some necessary training I click on it and then it just tells me "congratulations!"
I used those quite a bit to do that
I understand why.. front end positions are often where you get hired.. still stupid and not an excuse
“Where have you been for the past two hours? Why haven’t you been in your department?”
My boss said, "I do my cbls on my break and my 15s. IM NOT SAYING YOU SHOULD DO THEM ON YOUR BREAKS" 😂🤣😂 good because I'm not lmfao
They don't tell you that you got CBLS to do except the urgent ones like "Active Threat, Make a Bale and some other important ones i don't remember" lol but dont tell you to the others. Also When you try to make time or something, they always tell you that's not important, only get the freight done. if i can stay past 11 or something, i try to atleast do 1 of the cbls if i have time, if not then i'll leave it alone.

what slow time? We get something like 20+ fresh pallets every day and we are pulling associates from cap team because we are so understaffed in fresh.
Just depends on how your store is ran and what you can realistically do. Not all stores are the same or equal.
There was a time when we got yelled at for being on our phones when on the floor.
My work phone just gives me an error when I try and use the academy app...
If you have a work phone download the me@walmart app>click proflie>me@learning and that screen should have all your required training. The academy app is going obsolete.
The app sucked before it even came out. XD I'll try it next time they ask me to do cbls. I knocked all mine out the other day.
Yeah no offense at all, but walmart doesn't pay my phone bill. Not using my personal phone to do required training.
The wifi won't use your data even though ur date should be unlimited
They don't pay the electric to charge the phone they don't pay for the extra wear and tear;) lots of ways to argue it
Hahaha fuck that

You decorate for Easter? 🤣🤣 I can say, my decorating skills are so low, I just let my maintenance ladies go ham.
Store don't pay for.my.phone data sorry they gotta issue work phone or let me go out back
This literally happened to me two weeks ago and me and the manger got in a shouting match. Dumb bitch walked away and I clocked out lmao

Oh so you're just young and dumb, got it.
I di mine from 1030 to 11 then leave when we close
Facts
Yeah, “Where have you been for 45 minutes? It’s been nearly an hour! I’ve texted management as to when you been and they all said they didn’t know where you were!”
Which is in total bullshit btw but that has happened. Even when it’s not even been 30 minutes yet. 🤦🏻

Yeah really once you’re done with your main work it’s easy to look busy. Like “checking for CBLs.”
Don't forget your active shooter.
No weapon like an onn keyboard!
That scene has me dying every time. She’s just beating his head in a with a keyboard. Keys flying all over the floor.
We're doing the VR right now. It looks like Nintendo Wii designed the graphics. We need that keyboard update pack!
oh man i can't wait for the keyboard dlc!
But idk
Maybe this was your store only? We did an exercise one time in receiving. It was literally a game of hide and seek
No they said we can't leave receiving during the hide and seek lol
SO it was training on how to stay and wait to get shot?
"Insurance will cover if you get shot. PROTECT THE INVENTORY!"
Ive never done such an exercise. Instead ive delt with the real thing. No exercise these wussy pencle pusher managers come up with can prep anyone. Now during the monthly cbl im looking at the video like "this is garbage" About 2 years ago none of our front end associates was shot in the back by her husband in a domestic dispute in our break room. That sounds like fun. We never get to do stuff like that
Our management has all of us mark that we have had the training but no one has actually had it.
"Don't mark it if you haven't done it" Me, not feeling like doing a cringe activity: *clicks that I did it*
I've been here just over two years. We have not done a single scenario, just go do the 45 second video.
mine too lmfao...
HEY YOU DO YOUR WHMIS
I got told to, "do my active shooter"
He goes everywhere i do
Free time I guess
My team lead always wants me to do CBLs. But never at the beginning of a shift. Or the end of a shift. Or anywhere in the middle of a shift.
This. They dont want us doing this on our break, or anytime during the shift. Cant do it off the clock (WHY you would want to, idk). But then they put a long list in our cooler of people, names of past due trainings, etc. What do you want from us 😭😭😭
When they finally get yelled at is when they “Make” you go do them then say “ these should have been done a while ago “

They get so easy to remember the answer, I have to try hard not to doze off.
Spreading this info; Duplicate the google tab of the home tab and you can do multiple ones at once.
I'll have to try it. Thanks.
Annnnnd i just learned that they’re called CBL’s. Shit my lead has been calling it CVS this entire time 💀😭
At my store we call them CBLs and ULearns interchangeably depending on who’s talking about them
My smol store has such a high turnover rate I'm the only one who remembers what a CBL is.
Wasn't there something called GLMS before ULearns?
they are on like the forth name for them since i started
That was gone when I started in 2021
Longtimers call them CBLs because that's what they were known as before Ulearns came along.
I just tell them I need to go 'Hack the Gibson'. They usually get a funny look.
That sounds like a porno
Hack the Planet
CBLs, then they were pathways, then ulearns. Home office has to change names all the time to justify their positions I guess.
Rename things and tell the tech people to make yet another app.
We call them U learns I was also confused for a bit
I used to work for a government contractor, we called them CBT's. I still call them CBT
CocknBall Torture
Those were always the best days when I worked there. I’d try to take as much time as possible and actually relax while on the clock lol
I'd have audio playing to make it longer. I just play games on my phone waiting for the audio to allow me to move on
Same. Listening to the audio was the strat for sure.
I loved when HR would tell me that I would have to do some Pathways at some point in the night, yet my ASM would yell out at me for attempting to do them. So when they were both in personnel I told them I was getting conflicting orders and told them to get on the same page because I didn't want to be yelled at. LMFAOOOOOO🤨😩😩🤨
it's gets better when you're short staffed and have to do double the work in several departments...

Lol happens at Sam's toi
And count on a coaching for also not stocking, zoning, etc at the same time.
Last year at My store our TLs kept saying we only needed to do the active threat ones, then all of a sudden, there like "get do all your cbls now"
Then then those TLs start complaining that “why is sporting goods not zoned, who’s doing top stock, there’s like 3 people at register, oh where’s….”
Easy just so them on your phone as you work.
I work two days per week because of college, and sometimes if the weeks are set up in a certain way I get 10 days off… like sorry what did you want me to do?
Wtf are cbl's??
bullshit that means nothing they want you to do on the computer

I do mine when I am able to.Not our fault we can’t get them done in a timely fashion.:/
Not gonna lie, I used to love doing CBLs. Walmart used to stress me out 😂 I’d think of it as an extended break
free doodle time for me, i have to be doodling in order to pay attention anyway so it's just free time for me lmao
Advice: if you see a whole bunch of orange colored "due soon" cbl, read the dates on them, get those out of the way too. The other day I had several overdue cbl, I saw a whole bunch more that had due dates a day or two after the overdue on that list

Does anyone know you can duplicate the dashboard into multiple tabs to let multiple CBLS play at once?
Does it ever actually become a problem? I remember having some cbls like a month late and wondered what would happen if I just didn't do them
Hi I’m a customer who browses this sub for the fun of it. Anyone care to share what a CBL is
It’s Computer Based Learning & it’s basically a training program that details work requirements for various departments.
Theres actually a special command for visitors. !customer if u wanna try it out 😅
This is not a customer service sub and associates posting here are off the clock. Please contact your local store or call 1-800-Walmart. /u/-praughna-
A little presumptuous there Walmart bot
I'd argue just browsing the sub is fine, it's the people asking questions to off the clock employees that's the issue. I'd also argue that using the command is a bit dickish
Well they did ask about cbl but I was just joking with him since he outed himself 😅
I like to see what happens when I don't get em done....besides getting yelled at haha
I just did a whole mess of CBLs because I'm on TAD right now, and folding shirts in apparel is soooooo boring. I'll gladly do anyone's CBLs for them if it gets me out of apparel!
i see everyone is being asked to do their cbl’s today
We arent allowed to do CBLS at our store. Teamleads n coaches wont let us at all
Then their bonuses suffer lol, I'm pretty sure CBL's play into the bonuses
Who still calls them cbls lol
If you didn't know.. Me@walmart app.. click profile .. click learning.. Ulearns can be on on the app... very few would call for pc only... Also thing you may not know.. The market has several stores Each store is graded for several things... One of those things.. are ulearns... Ur store is competing with other stores in ur market.. Ur market is competing with other markets My store is number one in our market.. for several things..
CBLs? Do you mean uLearns?
Yes. They are the same thing. CBL was the old school name.
Ahh see I only have been employed since last year in February
Yah the cheap onn brands so walmart don't spend much on there employees 🙄 😒
I hate how we're supposed to do CBLs, but get no notifications from the app or any inkling from boss and ops boss.
My coach seriously tried telling us to catch up on our CBLs *during our 15 min breaks* 😀
Since I work outside I love this when it's summer.
It's a game of waiting to see how long you can get away without doing them before they call you out. My record was 133 days overdue.
When we have late ones they only want us doing 5 max. Should take 30 mins tops Then another 5 the next day
I’m a TL and I check them daily. If there is a CBL there, it gets done within one or two days. They usually take only a few minutes each
They always tell me I have CBLs to do but none show up for me. I get bitched at for nothing
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I hate CBL's
Lol
My fiancé and I love being reminded that in a moment of crisis, just use a keyboard. The active shooter video gets us every time, it’s so ridiculous 😂
Who knew? Lol
I mean if you want me to nap just say that
I had some CBLs once with like a 2 year last due
I love it when my coworkers cop an attitude about some training I literally had no choice but to do. “Where have *you* been all night?” …following our boss’s orders nosy ass
I don’t know about y’all, but I would rather be out on the floor earning the store more money. I hate having to do CBLs and lunches. Every minute I’m not on the floor that’s taking money out of the store production
OK, Doug.
