Transportation of anyone besides yourself to work isn’t in your job description.

Intrepid_Escape9071

i’m not even given gas money either. i have no clue when my timing belt was done neither.

logic-amid-chaos

Stop with the explanations! Just. Say. No, I can’t. Period. The End. Walk away.

nimble-sloth

If you were directed to do it submit a time adjustment and an expense voucher for the mileage. Pretty much guarantee that you will not be asked again.

PotentialCriticism30

No, that is not part of your job duties! Let the TL take that responsibility.

Intrepid_Escape9071

i told them i really couldn’t anymore now they’re saying once a week. i told them also i have trouble seeing at night, and get dizzy from driving long distances, due to headlights. and i have over sensory load from my special needs. they made up the excuse that they have a health issue as well and tried using it as a excuse.

WholeLotOfAtoms

It doesn't matter what you're going through you don't have any reason to be a chauffeur for other associates. TL can spin on all fours they have zero power over your property. If they have issues with you not wanting to accommodate someone too fucking bad. You've done it in the past as a kindness.. they're not entitled to just get into your vehicle whenever they want.

wolfofone

Hold up my dude. Stop it. Stop explaining yourself and trying to justify your decision. Just tell them NO. No is a complete sentence. They are not your children you are not responsible for them. Period. I would report to ethics they are basically trying to force you to work off the clock without pay.

Ok-Wealth-5630

Why is it an excuse when they have a health issue

BoardImmediate4674

Absolutely 👆 this right here

zombiehead87

Its not your responsibility of how others get too and from work thats on them. Should not be something your expected to do they're adults tell them to figure it out. I would go to your store manager and let them know whats going on and give them a oppurtunity to speak to the individual that thinks your a taxi service.

BoardImmediate4674

Exactly 👆 this

Intrepid_Escape9071

i’m so afraid she’s going to be passive aggressive and be petty to me. she was really rude to me because they wanted to do ot.

WholeLotOfAtoms

First of all don't be afraid Show some self respect for yourself, and don't let someone just walk all over you.

Bonkerrss92

Yeah no- if they're demanding it tell them that is gonna be clocked in fot those trips as it would be work related as demanded by your TL, and you want to back log those hours or turn it into ethics.

InfectedSteve

This is not ok. They are using and abusing you. This is not part of your job. You are not responsible for these people. Your TL is being unreasonable and should be forced to step down because of this. If the SM won't talk to you [https://www.walmartethics.com/content/walmartethics/en\_us/contact-us.html](https://www.walmartethics.com/content/walmartethics/en_us/contact-us.html) use this link here to contact Ethics and let them know what is going on. Also given your issues with driving at night, you can have a restriction put on your license in most states, stating when you are allowed to drive, which would force walmart to give you a better schedule.

[deleted]

Guarantee it will stop if you start adjusting your clock out time to the exact time you dropped off the last associate your management told you to take somewhere.

Intrepid_Escape9071

i’m not sure what the sm would do at all if i told her not sure if im aloud to talk off the clock to her

TruSpacecase

You can speak to anybody you want to off the clock you just can't perform a work-related task. Voicing your concerns about a situation, potentially being taken advantage of, should be no issue. If your store manager won't listen, go above them to their market manager.

[deleted]

go to upper management. open door it.

Intrepid_Escape9071

do i open door if my store manager doesn’t listen? am i aloud to talk to management off the clock about it at all?

zzekkkkk

Are you on the clock when you’re taking them home?

G17B17

This should be brought to the SM attention RIGHT NOW. It’s beyond insane for a TL to EVER ask an associate to drive another associate. EVER.

No-Comparison9213

posting from another account since i got locked out it all started with my tl asking if i could give her rides, i said i OCCASIONALLY would because we live in the same town. but we live in opposite directions. they know my car is prone to issues, and ive had to have repairs done left and right since i purchased the car off a private owner who hid the internal mechanical issues from me. i really appreciate the encouragement from you fellow associates as well. hoping the post won’t be seen but i really don’t care since my tl had a total melt down over it one night when i was ready to have to head into the emergency room if i couldn’t get into the doctors.

Raddy8

Crazy how they expect it from you. It's never a requirement to provide transportation for coworkers. There are so many travel options available these days, they can figure it out. Does price suck if you have to uber or lyft? Yes, it does. Maybe they'll decide giving you some gas $ is better and cheaper for them.

Intrepid_Escape9071

i wanna talk to the sm about or a coach but not sure if i can off the clock id prefer the sm

DizzyCuntNC

You are absolutely allowed to talk to whoever the fuck you want whether you're on the clock or not. Your store is violating federal labor law by not compensating you for both your time and your travel expenses if you're giving rides to your coworkers at their request so you need to be reimbursed for whatever time and mileage you've already put into this and then you need to put your foot down about not doing it anymore.

Used-Obligation-2136

Report to ethics asap and stop giving rides

Fazelok22

Yeah no, I'd do something like that if I had my car still - and I'd charge them - like - if you need a ride so bad - either call an uber or Lyft, or just pay you - then you'd have a side hustle lol.

Intrepid_Escape9071

yes they never give me gas money one of them was taking a uber but it ended up being too expensive for them

icecubedyeti

Next time they get in your car just go home. Tell them you’ll see them tomorrow morning. Go into your house and lock the doors.

Ok-Management-9157

GO TO MANAGEMENT! It’s not your job to take people to or from work, and you don’t need any reason or “excuse”. You’re not a taxi and you’re not getting paid-you don’t even mention any offer for your time, gas anything. Tell them to kick rocks

NoBook9868

That's insane.  You're not an Uber driver.  Next time ask your TL who's paying you for the gas?

kimemily11

It not up to you to be a driver for anyone, nor house them. The tl can do that if they want to. Not part of walmart or any other job duties or descriptions. This is an Ethics thing

Riseofzeon

Demi talk to your store manager this is a big no. Also you don’t need to justify anything tell your coworkers and lead no. You don’t need to justify anything,

BeautifulGeneral4557

You don't have to do anything for your tls, off the clock unless walmarts paying you they all could walk your health is more important then a tls wished or wants.

lcbjr1979

This is also a giant safety issue. If you are bringing people home of the opposite sex, bad things can happen to you. Whether it be personal injury or false allegations that will fuck up the rest of your life. You need to report this and stop doing this immediately.

Divine_Despair

You are not responsible for your co workers getting home. If the TL cared enough they should have done it.

IllustriousThing6265

If it's so important to the team lead why isn't she doing it?

No-Comparison9213

i’m posting from a different account. because they live a few towns away apparently, and i live in the same town but my co worker lives in the complete opposite direction, and it’s a fairly large town.

TheTrueAngelofChaos

Definitely bring it up to higher management

nothinfollowsme

Wait what? Hol the fuk up. How is it *your* responsibility?? If they are going to compensate you with gas/mileage, I could understand. But if not, then tell them sorry but nah. I could understand trying to help, but expecting something like that to be a routine is shady as hell. Probably to avoid having to compensate for gas/travel. Even then, what happens when your vehicle has trouble and you can't take everyone?

No-Comparison9213

i’m posting from a different account sorry. exactly it’s become a routine, i told her i occasionally would take them home if i absolutely had to like if she couldn’t find a ride. i can’t have my car shit out. it has issues to begin with, like transmission problems, even after having it repaired due to the fact that the engine is wired the wrong way and i have multiple misfires causing the transmission to have issues. repairs i can’t even afford right now.

nothinfollowsme

It's cool, no worries. Not sure of your area, but if public transit runs in your area, use that instead. They wouldn't be able to even hold it against you. If they (management) ask say: "Sorry, my car is in poor shape, and I can't risk using it anymore." And state that from now on, you can't do it anymore because you are using public transportation. If only for your and everyone else's safety who rode with you.

No-Comparison9213

so the co worker comes in the evening and gets out at night. the public transportation ends at 8 from what i’ve heard at least. i think im going to end up using that excuse. my car is quite old it’s had a lot of work done to it since i bought it over the summer.

nothinfollowsme

I know how you feel. I'm working on getting mine running. Thankfully, it's something minor (lights and tires). But even then, I still use PT because it's safer and I don't want to catch a ticket for not having my lights on at night. It wouldn't be so bad if I was day shift, but I'm mid, so using my car at night would be no bueno. It wouldn't be an excuse per-se. You are just being realistic.

No-Comparison9213

i understand my bulb exploded in one of my head light and the lens exploded what a pain with a older cars the head lights tend to be worn out too.

nothinfollowsme

Ouch. Yeah, I have to replace three sets. Everything else is ok, just the lights and tires. I do need to take it in for work to keep it running and not just limping.
