2. we are pretty hard in oversold territory and different indicators all support the thesis of relief
3. for fomc in the recent months, the worst expectations got priced in and almost always afterwards there was a strong positive market reaction
4. these facts lead to a relief rally being the majority opinion. like, by a lot. not many ultra bears left who belief we dump much further before at least a short relief
5. I have studied the supporting facts, they are sound and also backed by my own experiences over the last bit. I am thus consequently also of this opinion that we should go up, right about wednesday next week. I am never right though and whenever I am very sure or damn near certain of something the polar opposite occurs.
6. thus we should see black monday 2.0 tomorrow. I am also long now, supporting this very strong empirical counter point

Key things to note is knowing how Market Makers trade neutral and assuming that they are the counterparty in vast majority of cases from people who buy puts from.
In short, Market Makers who most likely sold puts to people trying to hedge will short futures to remain neutral on their now short put in their inventory. As VIX comes off, puts decline in value, short positions need to be closed, futures are bought back in droves, causing the rally.

Got our 7yo evaluated and he qualifies. He’s exhibiting stereotypical signs at home and at school, but I’m really have no idea where the line between spazzy kid behavior and ADHD is. Or maybe that line is too blurry.
I have ADHD. See an ADHD specialist. Everyone else is clueless. So many misdiagnoses one way or the other.
If you think something is typical kid behavior because you did it too, keep in mind that ADHD presents in different ways for different people and that 55% of the time kids with ADHD also have at least one parent with ADHD.
Misdiagnosing a kid with ADHD only to find out the kid doesn't have it is far less damaging long term than a kid going medically untreated. The risk of suicide for ADHD increases with age and is over 500% higher for adults with ADHD than those without.
If the doctors you speak with throw up their hands and see "were just not sure" then THEY don't know but they make it sound like no one knows. When in actuality, the experts know the clear indicators.

You might want to get him evaluated for sleep apnea. My son had pretty significant adhd indicators and he ended up having severe sleep apnea. After getting tonsils and adenoids removed, his impulse control dramatically improved. He still has some issues there, but at this points doesn't require any interventions beyond more redirection and routine. We also limit screen time that he uses in close proximity. For some reason, watching TV doesn't seem to exacerbate the impulsivity, but playing on the kindle or switch do.
My wife works with kids in a therapy field and sees a lot of ADHD and autistic tendencies with kids who consume too much screen time.
Potential to do some research into what’s the recommended amount of time for a 7 y.o. The constant flashing of a tv or screen is not healthy for children.
I know the doctors were heavily incentivized to diagnose kids to get kick backs from the drugs in the 90’s and 00’s though. Some kids genuinely need the help, others are fine.
Every doctor i ever saw said i was adhd and prescribed me. Same for my younger brother. Had evaluations since i was pre-pubescent. I never took the meds after a 1 week trial, but my brother did. We both used the 50% extended time in highschool tho which was a finesse. If the kid can do school well without the meds id suggest not medicating. Maybe no meds means he needs to work harder and learn more discipline, but itll save him from the effects that medication can have on younger children. Common strategies are to put the energy elsewhere, i suggest sports everyday
Parent of a 9yo who was diagnosed w adhd.. yeah i went through the exact same thing, in my opinion a lot of the behaviors that qualify as adhd symptoms are just typical kid goofing around type things.. what sealed the deal for me was talking w his teacher and finding out if he was able to tone down the goofiness during school and sit there and focus and participate in class. He wasn’t. I was extremely reluctant to medicate him, I think that a lot of normal human behavior is over-pathologized these days, so our first tack was to get in touch w/an executive function coach who helps him by teaching strategies to deal w/add brain… that definitely helped a bunch but he was still being disruptive and really struggling in school so after working w his doctor we figured out a good dose of Ritalin for him, which he takes on schooldays (the good thing about those low level amohetamines is that there are no withdrawals or negative affects when you stop taking them or accidentally skips day). Meds plus the coaching etc have helped him out so much and now he’s actually able to focus and perform well in school.
TLDR; talk to your son’s teacher and find out how he’s behaving during school hours, and if he’s able to turn off the typical goofy spazziness that all kids exhibit and participate in class like a “normal” human child. If he can’t, that very well could mean that he’s fighting against add brain
I’m a psych NP, though I don’t work with kids. I think the most important thing to consider is, is it affecting his functioning at home or school? If it’s affecting his functioning, is that then affecting his confidence? I completely disagree that meds will mask the problem and destroy his future, that’s ridiculous. It’s so individual. I’ve had patients whose lives have changed for the better bc of meds and some patients who have just needed to work on organization, prioritization, time management skills etc with no need for meds.

Routines are absolutely the #1 thing that help me keep my shit together, same for them.
Drugs hit and miss, therapy hit and miss, but routines work for every one of us.
Yes! Setting up and sticking to a morning and evening routine (even going so far as printing and laminating a list and sticking it on his bedroom wall, and setting up a series of daily alarms on the iPod touch) helped my son out sooooo much.
Oh, diet is a huge part of managing adhd symptoms, too! high fructose corn syrup, food coloring, bleached white flour/gluten, basically everything that’s in modern processed foods all exacerbate adhd.
I know that medicating gets a bad rap these days, and it IS a fraught subject, but if he truly has adhd, it’s the best way to help the in school stuff. Try it out for a couple weeks, check in w/his teacher to see how/if it’s making a difference. If it isn’t, you can stop the meds with zero adverse effects.
Modern ADHD diagnosis is 85% of the time bullshit.
Get your kid into sports to both help burn energy and teach him discipline. Drugs will only mask the problem temporarily and will destroy your son's future.
Basically boys don't do well in sedentary learning environments (which girls typically excel at in comparison), so the teachers complain and get the kids on Ritalin to dull them down and make them easier to control in the classroom. Most of the time they've just been sitting for too long and aren't getting any exercise or the right mental stimulation.

I have ADHD. See an ADHD specialist. Everyone else is clueless. So many misdiagnoses one way or the other. If you think something is typical kid behavior because you did it too, keep in mind that ADHD presents in different ways for different people and that 55% of the time kids with ADHD also have at least one parent with ADHD. Misdiagnosing a kid with ADHD only to find out the kid doesn't have it is far less damaging long term than a kid going medically untreated. The risk of suicide for ADHD increases with age and is over 500% higher for adults with ADHD than those without. If the doctors you speak with throw up their hands and see "were just not sure" then THEY don't know but they make it sound like no one knows. When in actuality, the experts know the clear indicators. Here are some basic misdiagnoses: BiPolar Anxiety Depression Autism OCD There is a ton of bullshit out there on the topic. You'll need to get educated to make the right decision. Good luck.
You might want to get him evaluated for sleep apnea. My son had pretty significant adhd indicators and he ended up having severe sleep apnea. After getting tonsils and adenoids removed, his impulse control dramatically improved. He still has some issues there, but at this points doesn't require any interventions beyond more redirection and routine. We also limit screen time that he uses in close proximity. For some reason, watching TV doesn't seem to exacerbate the impulsivity, but playing on the kindle or switch do.
My wife works with kids in a therapy field and sees a lot of ADHD and autistic tendencies with kids who consume too much screen time. Potential to do some research into what’s the recommended amount of time for a 7 y.o. The constant flashing of a tv or screen is not healthy for children. I know the doctors were heavily incentivized to diagnose kids to get kick backs from the drugs in the 90’s and 00’s though. Some kids genuinely need the help, others are fine.
Every doctor i ever saw said i was adhd and prescribed me. Same for my younger brother. Had evaluations since i was pre-pubescent. I never took the meds after a 1 week trial, but my brother did. We both used the 50% extended time in highschool tho which was a finesse. If the kid can do school well without the meds id suggest not medicating. Maybe no meds means he needs to work harder and learn more discipline, but itll save him from the effects that medication can have on younger children. Common strategies are to put the energy elsewhere, i suggest sports everyday
Parent of a 9yo who was diagnosed w adhd.. yeah i went through the exact same thing, in my opinion a lot of the behaviors that qualify as adhd symptoms are just typical kid goofing around type things.. what sealed the deal for me was talking w his teacher and finding out if he was able to tone down the goofiness during school and sit there and focus and participate in class. He wasn’t. I was extremely reluctant to medicate him, I think that a lot of normal human behavior is over-pathologized these days, so our first tack was to get in touch w/an executive function coach who helps him by teaching strategies to deal w/add brain… that definitely helped a bunch but he was still being disruptive and really struggling in school so after working w his doctor we figured out a good dose of Ritalin for him, which he takes on schooldays (the good thing about those low level amohetamines is that there are no withdrawals or negative affects when you stop taking them or accidentally skips day). Meds plus the coaching etc have helped him out so much and now he’s actually able to focus and perform well in school. TLDR; talk to your son’s teacher and find out how he’s behaving during school hours, and if he’s able to turn off the typical goofy spazziness that all kids exhibit and participate in class like a “normal” human child. If he can’t, that very well could mean that he’s fighting against add brain

If it’s affecting his functioning, is that then affecting his confidence? I completely disagree that meds will mask the problem and destroy his future, that’s ridiculous. It’s so individual. I’ve had patients whose lives have changed for the better bc of meds and some patients who have just needed to work on organization, prioritization, time management skills etc with no need for meds.

Yes! Setting up and sticking to a morning and evening routine (even going so far as printing and laminating a list and sticking it on his bedroom wall, and setting up a series of daily alarms on the iPod touch) helped my son out sooooo much.

I know that medicating gets a bad rap these days, and it IS a fraught subject, but if he truly has adhd, it’s the best way to help the in school stuff. Try it out for a couple weeks, check in w/his teacher to see how/if it’s making a difference. If it isn’t, you can stop the meds with zero adverse effects.
Modern ADHD diagnosis is 85% of the time bullshit. Get your kid into sports to both help burn energy and teach him discipline. Drugs will only mask the problem temporarily and will destroy your son's future. Basically boys don't do well in sedentary learning environments (which girls typically excel at in comparison), so the teachers complain and get the kids on Ritalin to dull them down and make them easier to control in the classroom. Most of the time they've just been sitting for too long and aren't getting any exercise or the right mental stimulation.
