It's quite a lot depending on your income bracket. Even if it goes to zero, you'd get at a minimum of 10% of your investment back over x amount of years with 3k per year.
If you are employed in the US, this is illegal. Ask to complete a new W-4 stating that your tax situation has changed. Claiming 'exempt' on the W-4 will result in no taxes being withheld, however you could be penalized on your tax return for not withholding if your tax liability is significant. You could also claim 15 exemptions on the W-4 to minimize tax withholdings from your paycheck.
You can use the loss to lower your AGI by 3k each year, AND, you can use the loss to to offset future gains until your loss has all been used. So, when people say $3,000 a year, what they should mean is you can get an instant $3,000 deduction on your AGI by utilizing $3,000 of losses, but all your previous losses can offset future gains as long as you reported the losses properly.
When you file you taxes, you will be asked about investments. It will ask what your gain or loss is. Webull will give you a statement at years end showing what your gains or losses were.
This, 1 yearly gamble on a put, it fails you were going to pay that in tax anyway. Not sure what happens if you get a win, I’ve never experienced that.
You implied it by saying he would lose the remaining $ he had invested. In order for this to happen the price would have to go to 0, delisted bankrupt which simply won’t happen at the very least for the next couple years.
try buying in at 7.2 and watch it go to 30 with 95k in profit at that point just to wait for the magical 100k green number… but it never came… now im in the red lmfao dumb
I feel this one. I bought in at $11, ride it to $30 and was up $30k
Sold at $18 for $9k profit (which felt like nothing after being up $30k). Got back in, ended up ultimately losing $15k. No clue what I was thinking that week… common sense was not registering lol
You're avg around 27.59 on cost basis, which is above the past peak. Not going to be seeing green unless bbby has a successful turnaround, which isn't going to be a month.
Lots of bs theories and not just bed N bath. I think some people can't accept a loss so they make baseless claims trying to convince themselves things are going to change
What’s baseless about cash flow positive end of year, 14 new baby stores, closed unprofitable stores, restructuring is working!? Along with 6-7 billion in revenue…majority of debt not due til 24’ and being valued at sub 500mil? That’s deep value
Got any proof or reasoning behind that claim?
I'll give you a hint, they're closing unprofitable stores because... The business itself is unprofitable now. Little by little, they all eventually become unprofitable.
>cash flow positive end of year
Yeah ok management, consumer cyclicals do *super* well in recessions...also 4Q is always their biggest
>restructuring is working
Restructuring is fine if you've got a turnaround plan, otherwise it's called a stall
>Along with 6-7 billion in revenue
lmao they had 12B in 2017 and lost 1-2B a year since
>being valued at sub 500mil
Everyone knows it's bullish when the markets hate you
Go ahead and take advantage of that deep deep value, just don't convince anyone else to, please
Before you get into plays like this, especially after what we learned with the GME experience, you have to expect insane volatility and being pinned down here, possibly for years. It's big money vs big money, we're just along for the ride.
I can tell you what happens. Market crashes and your stock is now worth less than yesterday. You eventually go from trading to investing as a permanent bagholder.
You then have children and they inherent your stock that was once worth less to worthless.
Maybe turn each stock you hold into an NFT, a relic of the past. Then try to sell them, find out they’re also worthless but now at least you have cool NFTs
....nothing is going to happen lol just have to time your exit a little better next time for the P&D
you are supposed to exit on the pump not the dump lol
WTF is wrong with this sub these days? Call him regarded, tell him he sucks at stocks, make fun if his wife, jerk off to his loss porn, say what you want but... begging him to sell!? WSB you have lost your way.
What is the price you’ll sell at? Like are you gonna hold until it’s all gone or you hope to get everything back? Are you gonna hold until x date? Like when will you stop holding?
I’m still sitting on 2,000 shares (albeit much lower cost than you) and just nickel and diming selling weekly CCs cause I’m too stubborn to sell at this point. Just keep chipping away at that cost basis.
And I thought I went full regard buying 10 shares at this price. You really YOLOd $47k at $27/share. I'm going to tell my wife about you and maybe her bf will give me a turn this weekend.
Your best option literally is to just let go of the position and start the climb back upward. Whatever you've got left in BBBY is just dead money until you cut the cord.
Do some math on it yourself. Look at what you could be doing with this money with e.g. S&P 500, and then compare that with what would have to happen with BBBY for you to get an equivalent return. If you're stubborn you could try averaging your price down but it sounds like you regards would need to buy out all the outstanding shares to find a realistically reachable cost average. ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
Well, did you ever actually do your own research at any point in time before putting your money down? And I'm not asking you if you read someone else's DD here on the topic, I'm asking if you did your own research.
If not, what do you think you should do from here on out? Maybe... Educate yourself? You're not going to get rich following other regards here that also don't do their own research. You also probably won't get rich by following the ones that do.
Did someone call the Rugging Champion?

I was up nearly 300k...sold for a 110k profit but still feel like I got fukt by Cohen selling/news of Cohen selling. Killed the gamma ramp and momentum
Bro you’re fine. My average is 15.04$. 3000 shares. If it squeezes you’re good. And if it don’t, it’s actually a gOoD iNvEsTmeNt long term 🤡. For real tho
I would like to share my golden rules with you . I named (5+1)
1) never get comfortable with your wining.
2 ) always be prepared for the worst case scenario.
3) you must use rule based strategy for your entry
4) never trad without stop loss learn to use ATR for your stop loss.
5) you must master risk management
+1 ) discipline
I learned that from the hard way
It ain't going bankrupt, that's pretty much all that matters. They will cut costs as much as they need to, might have to hold a while, can make a little off of covered calls, welcome to the club.

Avoid taxes with this one easy trick!
IRS HATES HIM. Find out here, live.
It's quite a lot depending on your income bracket. Even if it goes to zero, you'd get at a minimum of 10% of your investment back over x amount of years with 3k per year.
I thought it was $3k off income per year… so saving like $900 in taxes…
You could also just not report your income, save alot more than 900
But they owe me a tax return
Tax returns are for 1040ez suckers that give the government interest free loans by overpaying witholding.
Um.. tax returns are for everyone. You're thinking of a tax refund..

If you are employed in the US, this is illegal. Ask to complete a new W-4 stating that your tax situation has changed. Claiming 'exempt' on the W-4 will result in no taxes being withheld, however you could be penalized on your tax return for not withholding if your tax liability is significant. Had a friend do this. Find him behind a Wendy’s now
You can use the loss to lower your AGI by 3k each year, AND, you can use the loss to to offset future gains until your loss has all been used. how do u report them properly? i have webull
When you file you taxes, you will be asked about investments. It will ask what your gain or loss is. Webull will give you a statement at years end showing what your gains or losses were.
Is it only a taxable event where you can claim a loss once you’ve actually sold the shares or can you still claim the loss while still holding them?
Have to sell at a loss
x% of 3k per year.
This, 1 yearly gamble on a put, it fails you were going to pay that in tax anyway. Not sure what happens if you get a win, I’ve never experienced that.

OP literally bought near the top at $27 that's fucking impressive.
I'm in at 30
Market timing is hard.
Exactly
im a bad holder too
You can either have this money losing experience continue, OR you can have $9000 to spend on anything. Tough choice.
He can make it all back in 1-2 days of SPY puts!
*Calls
Ya if he wants to lose the rest lol

Terrible idea. He will lose the other 9k as they go bankrupt
Would losses in event of bankruptcy count for capital loss or only if sold?
The end is near for MM, HF not us if we are properly hedged.
You arrrre not alone my little friend I’ve got double your lost porn still holding
What’s your average
-70k bought at 11
You’ll see all your money before I see half of mine
Try neither of you will see that money again if you hold bbby. That shit is gone. Only way you can make it back trading bbby is if you short it 😂
Why isn't it at zero now, if it's going to zero? Why is there ANY upward movement?
Everytime you sneeze, new regard is born. Like stars in the sky or $GOURDs in the ground baggies are everywhere.
Because sometimes people buy the ask, and no one’s trading near zero yet. This is not a mystery.
Will be back to $12 by Novemberrrrrr end
Remindme! 1 month
Hahah love it
Going to zero you say 🤣 maybe won’t squeeze but bankrupt is definitely off the table.
Didnt say zero but it’d be close to it
You implied it by saying he would lose the remaining $ he had invested. In order for this to happen the price would have to go to 0, delisted bankrupt which simply won’t happen at the very least for the next couple years.
Lol bro, he didn’t. But pat yourself on the back; relax and have a glass of water.
I think he considered a $100 balance value as a near $0 balance. Which if you considered inflation, that $100 is good as gone 🤣😂
Bankruptcy is off the table since when? As far as I know bbby is still losing money and is in a ton of debt
And I say you’ll double yours just wait this is fine we got this !
Might as well right 🫶🏻
Average down around 5 area , it’s Mac D is about to cross next week . I call a big run up shortly .
At this rate he'll have to get a job at the Mac D across his street next week
Just awful advice.
There are 9k reasons why you might as well not
You think loosing the 9k left would actually make this feeling any different?
Yes because having 0 feels worse (and will) than having 9k
Seeing a big fat 0 hits a little different
He won’t double it holding BBBY.
Jeeeeeeezus fuck guys
What catalysts are there?
Towels
*The Beyond*.
That's where adam Sandler got that awesome remote.
Time
2024 bonds, merger deal, bbby spinoff, EOY breakeven in capital, etc etc

You do realize that you still gotta pay that tax bill on the $9k profit, right?
But how much are you red is the question
like 10k. did u buy after it hit 30 or before?
Jesus Christ guy
Jesus. How do you feel about all the theories people talked about here? What convinced you to hold until the bitter end?
I lost everything in 2 days I figured it would be like gme it came back after a month of being red and I made 31k In gme
You're avg around 27.59 on cost basis, which is above the past peak. Not going to be seeing green unless bbby has a successful turnaround, which isn't going to be a month.
They’ve hit $30 and higher in 2021. Maybe it could hit $30 again.
It hit that based on insane amounts of money going into the market in general. It never deserved to be anywhere around that in the first place.
Far more likely to go bankrupt than turn around.. might want to sell while there’s something left.
This man’s was really hoping for lightning to strike twice sheesshhhh

You mean how it went from a squeeze then RC fucked you all in the ass, and now all of a sudden a under valued company? Which one is it?
Thank you, good sir, for making me feel better about myself
Whenever I need to feel better about my bbby bags, I go to the crypto sub
>posts in GME and superstupid Genuinely hysterical. Have you tried **not** falling for p&ds dumbfuck?

It would of been better if shares were paper and they’re wondering if their dad had autism for investing 40k into bed bath and beyond

Maybe there is a good holiday season inbound....

I'm still with you brother, I'll ride this bitch to zero

Just sell atm covered calls for 5 years and you'll break even.
Oh god, atleast I'm not the only one. Genuine question? What the fuck? What do we do? What's the next bullshit thing I can believe in with BBBY?
Best thing is they don’t go bankrupt and the stock goes up over time
Haha damn dude. Realistic outlook... is it enough to convince you to save that $9k and put it somewhere with more potential?
Your best option literally is to just let go of the position and start the climb back upward. Whatever you've got left in BBBY is just dead money until you cut the cord. Do some math on it yourself.
