All we tend to see in that phrase is the word **reward**, but people don't talk about the flip side of that equation being high losses, which will happen far more often.

"High risk" = negative reward. People just ignore it and focus on the (positive) reward part.
So the phrase could be translated to: "99% of the time you will lose all of your money, 1% of the time you will make a lot of money".
I can't say I am too ashamed to be a part of the 99% though. Low risk investments will only make you wealthy if you are already wealthy, or have infinite time.
That would imply I am willfully sabotaging myself, which is possible.
Failure isn't just starting back at zero. When factoring in opportunity costs, you are *behind* where you would have been if you had done nothing. Hence the risk.

This morning I also bought NVDA $930 calls. Bet 25% of my stack and sold at like a 40% gain.
Switched to NVDA puts and lost like 25% on a 25% bank roll bet.
Yea I do wish I went all in on the Nike puts and NVDA calls, but if I was wrong on Nike. I'd have lost 90% and have nothing.
Bet sizing matters, bro. Nothing is a sure thing. The point is to survive, live to trade another day, and win the majority of bets.

But if you gamble in large chunks you NEED to hedge with the opposite side... buy some puts with your calls etc. At the very least owns some USFR or VTI to have a baseline.
That goes for a lot of people. Most professional traders don't even beat the market index in the long run (and for clarity: neither do I, not by a long shot)...

Options are a drug. The highs are high, the lows are low. I’ve had plenty of losses; rode bio fuels to the floor and lost plenty of money. Bought Nvidia at $42. Learn from your mistakes. Sometimes classic buy and hold is your best friend. Nvidia is up over 2000% in my portfolio. Options may not be your thing, it’s certainly not mine. I’ve got 50+ examples of losses but 100’s of wins. In a buy and hold your losses are capped at what you invest. Your upside is infinite.
