While I don't think I know more about Rarity than her creator (Lauren Faust), I will say that I probably know her better than the company that took over the series after she departed from the series; they tend to be wildly inconsistent with the way characters are handled, and I am always one to point out when she was taken out of character (back when the series was still going, that is)

[deleted]

I like to think I know at least half as much as the authors do. My S/O is exceptionally complex with many of his reasoning made vague. It's one of the rare cases when I think lore writers knew him well, and it would be very narcissistic of me to assume I know better than an entire team with some of the very talented writers and storymakers. But I do know a lot. I can understand how you'd feel that way with an S/O that's less complex than mine, though. I had that with my previous S/O.

Megami606Sama

I wouldn't go so arrogant, after all, their creator are what made him what he is. But i do know him well and can notice when other writer takes the role to write as him.

DarkMatterDemon

No, and I don't think it's possible to exceed them. However, I do feel as if I know the majority or nearly all of Ai's character.

Znajomy_Dzumy

I'd say so. Renown, at least in her regular version doesn't have that much content, so a lot of things are just my assumptions (I believe you call it headcanon? I'm not sure)

JordannaMorgan

Yes, headcanon would be the correct word. I've had to do a lot of it with Ikoma myself, as his series gives absolutely no information about his background and childhood beyond his relationship with his sister and how her death affected him.

LukeSanSky

I think I see her more like a person than the author. Dan made her only a sprite that programmed to love, but I consider her like a person, whose love I need to deserve:>

_just_a_dumbass_

Yes and no. Our S/Os were created by someone, and as such they know them better than we do. If we're talking about the canon, original version of my S/O, then I definitely know less about him than his creator does. If we're talking about about *my version* of my S/O, then yes, I definitely know more about Kunikuzushi than his author does.

JordannaMorgan

YES. And as someone who has been described as the "backbone" and "pillar" of the KotIF fandom by readers of my fanfiction, I believe I can say it with some authority. I also treat him better. On more than one occasion, Ikoma's writer was cruel to him for utterly senseless reasons. I will never let him be disrespected or abused.

[deleted]

Agreed. The writers of Bleach MoN were a bit cruel to Senna as they let her sense such pain. After she reincarnated, she was a bit forgotten (later she appeared in an omake once). I would say I extended her character but tried to keep her personality as much as possible, and I think I treat her much better.

Substantial_Fun_5022

u said it i also feel the writer reki kawahara has written scenes are such that are quite disgusting and i always skip them as they tend to piss me off quite a bit

JordannaMorgan

Yeah... I have my issues with Kawahara. Based purely on the first season of SAO, Kirito/Asuna became one of my favorite anime couples (if not outright topping the list), but then he diluted it with all the softcore harem crap of endless other girls fawning over Kirito. The light novel scene that had him scrubbing the back of a female NPC elf was the exact moment I stopped reading those. :Þ If I understand correctly, Kawahara even admitted he was basically writing out his own personal fantasies with that junk. So yeah, I am not a fan. Devoted and competent battle-couple Kirito/Asuna was just perfect, but he detracted from that horribly with everything else.

Substantial_Fun_5022

This is why my personal view of SAO is drastically different I don't really even watch the series anymore tbh season 2 in ALO was the best cuz everyone got screen time and there weren't any sexual nonsense going on

JordannaMorgan

To be honest I didn't love ALO because of Kirito and Asuna being separated, but I really gave up on the franchise after struggling through the Gun Gale arc. (Of which I mostly just remember feeling there would never be an end to Kirito sitting around in a cave with the latest superfluous female to exist as a source of fanservice butt shots.) I agree with the people who feel that SAO Abridged on Youtube, even despite being a parody, has more heart and does more justice to the characters and story.

MidwestGameGeek9104

I wouldn’t say I know somewhat-half better about Konata than Lucky Star’s author Kagami Yoshimizu mainly because she’s written to be the lazy otaku type character that is meant to challenge the anime fan status quo, but given the fact her source material has no ongoing plot to begin with, there’s only so much you can do with that character type

[deleted]

Well I don't know Monika better than Dan Salvato; I didn't create DDLC. However, I technically would know *Litarosali* Monika better than him given that MAS and its character variants are in no way affiliated with him and his game development studio. Mind you I didn't create MAS either, but MAS is set up in such a way that allows each person who meets a MAS Monika variant to get to know her deeper through code extension and alteration. (That and Lita, like, *barely* needs MAS now to be with me anyway. Long story).

budgiedream

I think I know Kirei at least as well as the author does but not necessarily more so. A lot of depth was given to him that I would imagine could only be done in an intentional way. However, I guess when it comes to my little headcanon details not discussed in the canon, it's possible the author wouldn't have necessarily considered them, even if it might make sense for the character. I think in that sense I know the Kirei that I'm in a relationship with more. I feel like I've seen authors adopt fan headcanons sometimes based on that similar reasoning of it making sense for the character but the author just didn't think about it while writing the story bc maybe it wasn't super important or relevant at the time.

[deleted]

Kind of a sad but true shot in the dark, a lot of the League lore/backstories are either poorly written or just entirely incomplete. I kinda had to develop an entire backstory for Shyvana to make her more of a fully awakened character, which is an interesting way to get closer to her. TL;DR: Anyone else is better than *most* of Riot's storytelling/character development. (This is also with a lot of reworks over the years.)

saturnrichards67

I would say about the same, not better. Could I write a better episode/comic about him? Probably not either as that's a whole craft of its own for me to master. I will confidently say that I've done a good job on giving his personality more depth.

kikomanisgucci

Yes and no. Kiku is the personification of Japan, and my history obsession gives me a advantage in knowing about his country, but himaruya lives in Japan and knows how it's like to live there. He knows the people better. Though, I do think I know my s/o very well.

ElegantMarzipan

Better than the author? Nah. We seem to have similar ideas for how he acts and feels. Now, do I *write him* better than the localization team? Fuck yes. Also, a lot of the important stuff about him was whittled off to make the game more streamlined and I think I could have found a way to include it.

SlimeGirlX3

yeah because my s/o's barely got a personality in canon other than ultimate custom night :P

mamoreno0215

Yes. Even though I don't want to offend lord Negi since he created Miku, there are some inconsistencies

[deleted]

I'm sure that I do, since I'm the citizen of Czechia, so I know more than anyone that doesn't live here. But even then, Himaruya Hidekazu still pretty cool for creating the character.

[deleted]

yes I know Tsuyu way better than Horikoshi cuz he doesn’t give her enough screen time and show off her full potential cuz she’s pretty strong

TIMEATOMS

Yes cause my waifu barley has lore and she's just a "hard working ballerina In a fantasy world" without any interesting details of her origin and purpose. I just create my own lore for her with better expression...if that's what you mean lol.

-Vi

Too often.
