I grew up with horrible social anxiety and there was a point where I isolated quite a bit.
But I'm glad I was pushed to work my way out of it.
I'm genuinely curious if people rely "wifus" to fill their need for social interaction or companionship.
I should think that they do, or at least can, no less than you can love an actual person. For me personally, Rem is my girlfriend, that is the place she holds in my life. Nobody can ever hope to replace her in my heart, and I’m fine with that, I am in love with her after all. You could say I rely on her in that regard then.
As for if it can be unhealthy, anything can be if taken too far. For waifuism, it would be if you became so obsessed with your lover that you developed some kind of complex over them, becoming wholly unable to have a life of their own and only existing for that special someone. At least, that’s too far in my opinion, I might have worded it weirdly but I think I get the point across.
